Just basically agree with everyones posts are home form been poor this season it's not good enough am not blaming c. a but the players need to take the blame we have had good few chances to compete for 4th spot an for whatever reason just hasn't happened tbh am gutted watching the match yesterday we should of been out of sight just wasn't to be based on what I have seen we will be lucky to finish in top 8 just my opinion but man I am devastated.

I agree Andy. I have said it before and will say it again - we're amid table team with a mid table striker. Somebody replied to that quoting DCLs goal stats suggesting he's the best performing striker in the league (ignore Kane being injured, or that a lot of teams don't set up around creating majority of chances for one main striker) . I would one again stand by my earlier statement, and in my opinion last night was another example of why that is the case. And yes I know that on this one particular occasion Richy missed chances too.

TD, DCL 19 goals this season with a strike rate of just over 1 in 2 in the PL with 14. He has missed 15 big chances though but has 55% shooting accuracy. His stats are just slightly better than Vardey who I also consider a good striker also in a team that looks to him to score most of the goals. So I don't really understand why you think DCL is a mid table striker?

Because I think he misses a lot of chances that I think he should score. You don't think he misses chances that cost us games, which is fine as you are entitled to your opinion. He does have a very slightly better goals to mins ratio than vardy this season to be fair, vardy has 7 assists to DCLs zero mind.

Shooting accuracy is a bit of a dud stat to use in my opinion by the way. His two one on ones from Monday were shots on target (100% accuracy) but in my opinion, I appreciate that you disagree, they were both bad misses and again cost us points.

Think the reality is he has improved but is by far the finished article. The issues this season seem to have been goalkeeper and a total lack of width. Centre backs are decent, midfield improved but now what's sticking out is just how dross we are going forward. Well we don't go forward with any conviction. Not carlos fault he inherited this mess. Still going to require a lot more patience and a lot more backing.

TD when have I said DCL misses haven't cost us points? Why do you think I disagree that both DCLs and Richys misses didn't cost us the game? What I do disagree with is the fact that you are calling him a mid table striker when the stats this season don't really back that argument up. For the record DCL needs to improve in quite a few aspects of his game, one on ones being one of his biggest areas where he needs to improve. I hope he still develops into a better player but even if he doesn't I still think he is a good striker that will do well in a top four/ six team.

OK so with no development he is good enough for a top 4 or top 6 team. Which of the top 4/ 6 does he start for if he played for them?

{Ed077's Note - Man Utd for starters.

What's with the hate for DCL ToffeeDavey?

Sure, it's plain to see that he misses some excellent chances which are gutting, but this strikes me as a composure problem. He's so desperate to score that he rushes into a strike rather than taking that split second to place into a corner. As he develops further, his composure will come.

He has markedly stepped up this year. 2 years ago he was pretty raw and woeful, tail end of last year he started to produce, and this year has kicked on hugely. If this trajectory of development continues then next year will see him become England's number 1 striker.

As it stands, his current qualities as an aerial attacker and hold-up play put him with the very best in the league in those departments.

Lay off the hate and support the lad!

It's hardly hate. I have pointed out areas of his game that aren't good enough but then am forced to defend my right to an opinion and in doing so makes my opinion appear more extreme. There are people on this site who won't have any of our players criticised and obviously they are entitled to their views. The other night we played against a distinctly average team, aside from the two absolute howlers how else did DCL perform did you think? I thought he was barely involved.

TD to be fair to you, you have been consistent about your opinion re DCL I wouldn't class it anywhere near some of the vitriolic stuff said about other players just a differing opinion to mine. I was just interested as to why you thought what you did. Two things we can probably agree on is one DCL needs to improve and we both want Everton to be the best they can be. We just have differing opinions on where DCL is at the moment.

Absolutely mate - it's a game of onions and life would be boring if we all agreed on everything. For what it's worth, I do think it's better that he misses the one on ones where he has lots of time than the close range ones - the instinctive finishes and being in the right place is, I think, much harder to coach into someone whereas although he'll never be a natural he will hopefully be able to improve his composure for the one on ones etc.
