Did anyone see Garth Crooks comments on bbc when picking team of the week regards Jordan Pickford. Think we all agree he hasn't lived up to our expectations from when we signed him and all wince a little bit when the ball goes towards him. That said credit were credit is due and Saturday he was great and put me at ease for maybe the 1st time in ages. But can't believe after he plays well this still gets brought up!
He wrote: “It is with some hesitation I find myself selecting Jordan Pickford for my team of the week.

“It was Pickford who put Virgil van Dijk out of the previous Merseyside derby with an awful challenge that went unpunished.

“However, football moves on very quickly and Pickford seemed intent on inflicting even more pain on Liverpool, this time on his return to Anfield.

Also Alison is getting grief from LFC fans for talking to him at the final whistle. If it wasn't so sad I would be laughing!

Does anybody else think Pickford has lost weight? He looked a lot leaner to me, but then maybe I didn't have my telly on wide screen.
To be fair on your last point. Had we lost and Pickford was seen chatting to their keeper then if i'm being honest I would have been a little peeved.

It was only the game before Liverpool he made a mistake leading to a goal. He’s got a lot of good games to have before I think he’s our long term Number 1.

I think it's evened out considering terrence trent derby didn't get a red card for the pen.

I read it Cookie and thought Garth Crooks a bit of a nob with that comment.
If football moves on very quickly why’s he bringing it up again?
Poor journalism but not unexpected as it appears no one wants to see us do well and look to pick fault where they can rather than just commend our results.

I’ve never rated Crooks. What is the point of picking Pickford to spend 2/ 3 of his section not about him? Easily could have mentioned his save against Henderson or Salah when 1-0 and the fact he kept a clean sheet but opted not to.

Agree it’s lazy journalism. If you don’t want to pick him on merit of his performance, pick someone else. Only looked at this weeks article as it had an Everton shirt on it. Reminded me why I stopped reading his tripe long ago.

Shameful, sensationalist journalism - Pickford did not set out to injure anyone, see bad tackles and injuries every weekend. Let it go man. Pickford looked sharp and confident- let’s hope he takes it forward. Get Dom and Richy up top on Monday night and go for 3 points!

Day 5647 and they still have to bring it up it's pathetic. Smit regards the red card I believe the ref went to the monitor to check the red card not the pen as under current rules if he accidentally brought Lewin down then it's a red card if he tripped him on purpose then no red card.
