To be constructive in your comments is preferable to total criticism but after such an abysmal performance against Soton Carlo's tactics and team selection were ridiculously negative and the result was a foregone conclusion before a ball was kicked, it is difficult.
I blogged last week that you cannot play 3 flair players in the EPL and expect to compete.
What I meant by flair was players like Sigurdsson, Gomes and Delph who have no pace and therefore cannot close down giving away unnecessary free kick after free kick. To add insult to injury they cannot even make the most simple of passes.
For Carlo to say he had addressed the detail this week in training and then pick that team and setup is unbelievable if not laughable.
To compound the mistakes he takes off Nkounkou who was having a decent game and offered something going forward, instead of Delph who spent most of the game passing the ball either backwards or sideways.
I really don't understand why Tosan, who again is short of pace and has no future with the club, is preferred as a substitute to Gordon who has a turn of pace and skill and is direct and would have offered support to DCL and a threat to Newcastle.
Without boring fellow bloggers, why was a box to box midfielder almost used as a second RB and why is Allan suddenly being caught out of position and then attempting to recover only to be tackling from the wrong side risking injury and giving away fouls?
I appreciate that we are missing James and Rickie but we have sufficient in the locker to beat a bang average side like Newcastle.
Carlo needs to take that on the chin and listen to Skylark below and If Isco wants to join in January snap him up.
Well done Dominic for a well taken goal after a game when you didn't get a decent ball throughout.

Agree with most of that Fancy, and your right why bring Tosun on if he’s not in his plans. There was a really opportunity today to give Gordon and Simms a chance today. I know I keep banging on about it, but what is the point having a striker who is really good in the air if your not going to play wingers.

I sincerely hope that Carlo comes nowhere near this site for tips on team selection or tactics. This man has won as much silverware as our entire clubs history. Just because I know where my kitchen is doesn’t make me a qualified architect. We know as much as we know about football. But if we could just remind ourselves that on Monday we will be at work doing what we do for a living. And unless that’s coaching at Premier League level than let’s just trust the man who has proven in the past and present that he’s really quite good at what he does.

For god's sake toffee it's ok to have a go at your own manager when he gets It wrong just like we praise him when he is working his magic.

It's a game of opinions Toffee ace. I presume you have never expressed a political opinion or criticised the government. Unless you've been a politician of course? And most certainly never said a TV programme was rubbish, unless of course you've been an actor or director? In fact I presume you have never really talked about or expressed an opinion on anything outside your line of work.

Opinions yes. But to hope that Ancelotti comes on hear to learn a few things from those who post. Do me a favour. I’m just not here to dig him out the minute we lose a few. We can’t expect to win them all. Or even win most of our games. Our squad isn’t good enough.

But to be fair to the other parts of your post, as I was unfair to focus on the one thing I disagreed with, I am also at a loss as to what Delph brought all game. It seemed every pass he made was behind the man or couldn’t clear the first man when he crossed. I actually said to my son that Delph reminds me of the feeling you get when you lose. Not a nice feeling at all, and yeah we lost again.

To be fair toffee no one is having a real go at the manager it's more the players they are just no good enough . But he could have picked a different squad and he has made a mistake today that's all we are saying, we are not calling for his head mate.

Exactly Skylark, nobody is calling for the manager to go. They are just stating the obvious that Carlo got it wrong today. Now had he made changes a little earlier then who knows. But seriously Gomes, he was shocking in the first half, and should have been replaced before the second.
