I will probably get slated for this, but feel that playing James out wide right is leaving us open to attack on that side. So either we get Doucoure or Allan to cover for him or we move him to the middle behind DCL. And Bring Gordon or Bernard in to play on the right to help support the full back.
I would like to see a 4-4-1-1 formation giving James the freedom to play anywhere across the pitch.

Not slated at all woburn. James will do immense damage in the 10 role, my opinion, free up Doucoure box to box, Alan to break up play. Not sure about Bernard etc!, but we need a RWB and RB. Up to Carlo though isn't it.

Just don't play Siggy, absolute waste of space. James should be in the #10 position. Playing Iwobi and Sigurosson together is like playing with 9 men. I would like to see Gordon given an extended run, at least he tries.

{Ed025's Note - i can put up with losses mike, dont get me wrong i dont like it but if the team gives their all sometimes it happens, what i cant stand is players strolling around the pitch like those two mate..

I did think that by moving James infield would also reduce the need for Siggy and Gomes being our either or option.
Agree right side is our biggest issue at the moment in both positions. However, it’s an improvement on needing a whole new midfield.

I’d be worried DCL would be isolated in 4-4-1-1 . I’ve always preferred 2 up front.

I"m with you Ed025, No passion, no desire, no effort. Having one good game in every six is just not good enough. Gomes may have slowed down and not as effective as he used to be but he tries his best and Davies for all his faults played his heart out.

The way I saw it against Southampton Dacoure spent most of his time covering the right side to help out James and Godfrey. Carlo must have hoped it would be enough shoring up the right at the expense of the left unfortunately Iwobi is no Richarlison and Digne was left exposed on numerous occasions. This gave Southampton the opportunity to attack down either flank leaving Alan exposed in the middle. It also meant that both wide men came too deep and without the pace to get up field quickly isolated DCL. It just goes to show how much we rely on both Seamus and Richarlison for plan A to work. I would not be at all surprised if we go to a 442 or some sort of 451 variation against Newcastle and look to push forward rather than counter attack. Time for Carlo to have a tinker.
