What a fantastic performance by the whole starting eleven today. They played with passion, played excellent team football with no weak links, rather than eleven individuals who looked as if they had not practiced together like some of the games last year.
We've all waited a long time for this type of performance. The three new players all played excellent games and fitted into the team seamlessly. We dominated the game for long periods and well deserved the win. Hopefully the fringe players will learn from this type of performance and improve their game since injuries will occur and we need the likes of Davies, Siggy, Walcott, Bernard, Keen and Iwobi to improve their game (if they are still with us) .

I am not getting over excited about one glass of champagne, but it was great to watch an Everton side actually compete for 90 minutes of a game. I can't remember the last time! ?

ha ha not far off with the 80s i would say under Joe Royal was as close as we had to it we could match most sides and had really good attacking players.

Having watched it back again, the one that stood out, without standing out was our No6. A replacement (upgrade) on gueye, organisation, leadership, skill, tenacity and distribution. If that turns out to be consistent you have to wonder why he was allowed to leave.

Doucoure impressed me also. Sticking his leg out from behind players to win the ball in front of them. Ran and ran for 90 mins. Gomes looks like a player who hasn't the task of being all of the midfield 4. He didn't have to worry bout what was going on behind him and could play his own game. Only one game and yes spurs were poor but we made them look poor. Could be an exciting season for us. We're definitely going to ruffle some feathers this season.
