Seems this FFP is a corrupt system designed to keep the top clubs at the top an not give any chance to anyone outside the top 6 a chance at breaking into the champions league. Where you need to be to earn the money to invest the big money.

Just my thoughts don’t know what anyone else thinks.

{Ed002's Note - No, others understand how it works.}

I agree bud ffp is there to keep the top clubs at the top and the rest in their place due to regular income from champions League and sponsors they can spend more on players.

Spending needs to be controlled try to keep clubs from ending up with massive debt and going down the pan. FFP is a way to do this. Although its not perfect and does have a bias towards particular financial models, its not the FFP that has put Everton in the position they are currently in but the way the money has previously been spent.

I’m not saying spending doesn’t need to be controlled, I’m saying I don’t see how anyone can break into the champions league without spending big or paying big wagers.

I know Everton’s recruitment hasn’t been great Over time/ years an this why we are in the situation we find ourselves in.

With the exception of Leicester When they won the league, how do we expect to see anyone break into the top without laying big prices for the best players who want the biggest wagers.

I don’t look into the commercial side of the club where money needs to be generated, also matchday revenue and TV rights, sponsorship etc.

I understand something needs to be in place to stop clubs spending what they can afford but surely something can be inserted into it to allow clubs outside of the top 6 to spend if they have aspirations of challenge the top 6. Everton, wolves, Leicester, Newcastle, West Han etc.

For instance Newcastle - if that Saudi investment was to go through and they had a windfall of money pumped into the club to challenge the top 6 would they not be able to spend it due to FFP restrictions.

Maybe I don’t understand it, but it just seems it’s in place to keep the big clubs in the champions league. Anyone outside of that bubble need to have a faultless season to break into it.

sa90 nobody said it's down to ffp we are in this position but it's obvious ffp was brought in to keep the so called elite clubs at the top and everyone else in their place.

FFP is definitely the correct sort of system to protect clubs from maniac flash in the pan owners. However for a club like us who have a clear long term commitment with stadiums and the guys bought the most iconic building in town, it's definitely a handicap. It's just a fact. The greater good of football wins out but as a fan of our great club, it's definitely a smack in the face that we couldn't have done a Chelsea or City. The other billionaire wouldn't be floating like a shadow in the background for sure. We'd have 2 billionaire owners / investors and I'm sure no ones cheques would be bouncing. So yes, I believe if a club as potentially cash rich as our owner is and his associate, we should be allowed to spend and spend. So maybe if the argument is that it evens things up, why aren't the top 5 clubs who do whether you want to admit it, have a monopoly on the EpL, should have a "ballast penalty" like they do in touring cars. Its about as stupid an idea as FFP is for us.

FFP only has an affect on teams who play in Europe which are normally the top clubs anyway. The P/ L sustainability for the prem is there to stop teams losing millions.
Everton as a club could do so much more to increase revenue and the stadium in years to come will help.
Spending 250 odd million like we have and can't even overtake a spurs or Arsenal says a lot about how it has been spent and managed.
We are now at a point where we need to sell a big player to invest more in the squad. Luckily we have ricky and Digne who will bring big transfer fees.
We also have some quality young players coming through.
We thought it was our time to move into the top 6 a few years ago when actually it is in the next few years that we have a better chance.

To be fair, Arsenal have been light years ahead of us for 25 years and a paltry 250 mil would never have been enough even if we spent it better. Spuds? Again this idea we are just behind them like we once briefly were under Moyes is also a fantasy. Sure they've both had a wobble recently but their wobbles would have been most welcome at our club in comparison. They've both done the new stadium thing and both suffered on the pitch. When ours is built we will have the same. But falling from runners up in a CL final to ending up 4th or 5th isn't even on our horizon. Madness smit, sorry mate.

Arsenal have been off the boil for a while and have been getting worse. We were consistently around 6th in the Moyes era so when Arsenal stopped spending money and we started we should have made the jump up then if done correctly. We weren't just behind Spurs under Moyes we finished ahead of them pretty consistently to a point.

Yeah that's right smit. Arsenal getting worse. Winning the race for a European qualifying spot and the charity shield. Definitely going backwards. Sorry mate but that's just not correct. Delusional.

Toffee I might be delusional but I can see when a team finishes 8th last season 5th, 6th, 5th, 2nd before that, that 8 is lower than 2.
So it is correct its your lack of what has actually happened that could be the issue LOL.
By your reckoning Everton have been getting better for the last 5 years 🤣🤣
Embarrassing.
