See the Mail having a pop at us now, saying we have wasted 560m on players since Moyes left. However, no mention of the 320m we sold during that time.
This is over seven seasons, so giving us an average spend of 34m a season.
Now I know we haven't made the best buys on some of the players during this time, Klaassen springs to mind. But we are not the only club guilty of this.
Just feels like we are flavour of the month right now for the rags to have a pop.
Just saying like.

It's a trend repeated through recent times. Blackburn got a pasting as did Chelsea and City. Big spending and rich owners become a target.
Sure we are walking a tight rope at the moment but I'd take it as a compliment that others are jealous.

Difference is folks is that Blackburn, Chelsea and City improved to a point and won silverwear within x2 seasons of the spend. I would actually argue that we are no closer now to winning silverwear than we have been in the last 15 years. God knows how we have got CA as our manager- that’s one blessing.

Blackburn won silverware as they were promoted. Still took a few years to win the prem.

City were able to spend to such a point that World football had to come up with FFP and the like to stop them. They had years to blow crazy money and didn't win the league as quickly as you might think and have still been pretty average in CL.

Chelsea had already been top 4 (or there abouts) under Bates and Vialli so not as much of a revolution as we need. And again spent huge, way before world football authorities had to design mechanisms to shackle them.

Shame we didn't get rich 15 years ago. Hence why we've not closed any gaps. Officially we're only penniess richer than WHam!

We've wasted 3 years. And this is still a 5 year mission.
