I always enjoy the posts from Cowpat Sid, but am intrigued by his name. Can he - or anyone - explain where it came from?

1.) 06 May 2013
I remember the name Cowpat Sid being used on another Everton fans' forum many years back. I guess it's the same person, as I can't imagine two people inventing the same nickname so many years apart, but only Cowpat Sid can confirm.

2.) 06 May 2013
Judging by his posts, Cowpat Sid seems quite articulate and has a self-deprecating sense of humour, so I'd guess his name is a joke about the sort of material usually posted on this website. But what would I know!

His name is pat mate, and he owns a cow called sid easy one lolStef the blue

I was told by someone in the know that he's called Cowpat because that's a source for making methane and Sid is having a gas on this website.

I remember Cowpat Sid on that other forum - must be at least ten years ago if not even longer. Can't remember the name of the website. I do remember a lot of friendly banter with a LFC poster called Dancing Dave.

Bloody hell - it must be a slow news day! My theory is that he once wore a black beret and his mates slaughtered him about it and said it looked like a cowpat sitting on his head.

Unlike most posters on this website, I actually know Cowpat Sid. However, also unlike many posters on this website, I won't divulge secrets - such as the origin of his name - without permission. So, my friend, please disclose the origin of your sobriquet.

I first used my nickname many years ago on another Everton fans' forum website. I can't remember that forum's name. I do remember the friendly banter with Dancing Dave.
The Cowpat name has no hidden meaning - I genuinely just came up with it out of the blue. It just seemed funny, unique, and unforgettable.
For those who haven't twigged yet, although Cowpat Sid is my primary name for posting, I regularly use various other names depending on my mood or on the content of the post I'm making. If having multiple names upsets the EDs, that's too bad IMHO and I'm not aware of any restriction. Anyway, my excuse is that I did make a donation when I first registered on this website ;-) Besides, I always try to remember to login before posting so that my name (whichever one I use) is given at the end of the post. This is a great website and the EDs do a superb job. Once a blue, always a blue!

Donation? Stef the blue

Stef the blue: re donation - when I registered my name (so that it appears in a highlighted box at the end on my posts and thereby identifies me as the genuine poster), I also took the option to make a small donation for the upkeep of the website. As well as getting an email acknowledgement of my nickname being registered, I also received a thank you for the donation. The EDs may work for free, but the hosting of the servers containing this website has to be paid for.

I would have no problem making a donation either if ed highlights this i'm sure we would give something. Stef the blue
