Hey guys,

Please explain the love for Martinez?

I don't see anything special, he has about the same funds as Moyes (they've spent 8-9M for the last 3 seasons while gaining 10M back for the same 3 seasons) and is always in the relegation battle like at the minute. and will probably be going to go down.

Please enlighten me?

He wouldn't be top of my list, but when you watch Wigan games they always play pretty decent football, always passing and moving rather than punting it. I think that's the attraction plus he did an interview yesterday where he spoke a lot about giving youngsters a go - having just played about 5 of them and winning 4 - 0

Because he just might get the Everton team to consistently play progressive, expansive, attacking football. I loved the dogs-of-war, which we needed at that time, and I understood the need for a less cavalier approach when we didn't have the players, but we are the school of science and I want to watch the beautiful game.

He's the right one, the bright one: he's Martinez. {Ed025's Note - love it mate..

He is Spanish and he wears a nice suit.

Is he a good manager or a lucky manager to have kept Wigan in the EPL by the skin of their teeth so far. Who knows for sure, but I'd like DM's successor to have one - preferably both - of those qualities (being good and being lucky) and apply them to inspiring Everton's squad to play attractive winning football for Everton's loyal and patient supporters.

I want di canio myself but the reason people want Martinez is simple, he gets a small club from a rugby town playing nice football with rubbish players, he may spend similar to moyes difference is he never moans about money gets paid less and we have the luxury of being able to attract far better players so ofc we finish higher, with our squad Martinez would get us 4th no doubts about it, he'd ditch nev Naismith big vic yano the rubbish players and bring in his own players that can move the ball, he likes football moyes likes hoof ball, Martinez would get players like mirallas showing their flair and pace, he's never paid more than double figures for a player like moyes yet they mov the ball far better ands squads thicker, player quality helps yes but a managers style is far more important
Marouanes mop

Because when he's interviewed, he seems to be the right balance of realism, honesty, optimism, and positivity. He's one of the few managers who doesn't come across as ungracious, self-absorbed, blinkered, mindgame-playing, or trying to spin everything. {Ed025's Note - i agree with that mate..

Thanks for the comments guys.

I see bonus's being attractive football, not scared to have a go, Honest manager, would let the youth through etc.

So why are Wigan always fighting the Relegation battle? Something we've NOT done since Moyes has been in charge?

In 2003-4, under DM, we finished 17th on 39 points - just six points clear of the bottom three relegated clubs. In some other seasons, we'd have been relegated on that points total.

We haven't had to battle relegation as we are a far more attractive team to join than wigan, if you were a foreign or homegrown star and someone said wigan and everton want you, I don't know many whod go let me talk to wigan I want to go there, we are still a very big club, something that wigan could never be even with a sheik, martinez with the extra money moyes gets compared to wigan would turn us into something special playing wonderful football, and ofc wed actually get to see green, barkley, garbutt lundstram etc etc develop, he can bring that young callum mcmannamon with him too if he fancies it, looks a very very good player

I think we retain our top players for longer, and when they go they tend to go for quite a bit. a lot of wigan's best players leave either on a free or in last year of contract so they are constantly turning over their squad where as at least we have relative stability

Thanks Guys, your responses have been brilliant.

Although none of you have give me any confidence in having Martinez as a manager.

Thanks for your time.

Plus he's won at Liverpool and Arsenal with worse players than we have, but I think jist of it though is that most fans are fed up of watching moyes style of football when we have the players to do so much better.
