Eds are spurs interested in more than Richarlison? On there pod casts that they could be after Gordon or Godfrey?

{Ed025's Note - they can gladly take Godfrey for me. As long as we don’t get lumbered with winks..

Is it true there is also a Saudi consortium intresin buying up ed.

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

You don’t rate Godfrey then Ed025?

{Ed025's Note - when he first came ST I thought we had a star on our hands. But he has regressed terribly and become very negative. Every time he gets the ball he turns backwards and looks for Pickford and it does my bloody head in. I do believe there is a player in there somewhere mate but unless he grows a pair and sorts his game out I don’t want him anywhere near the first team ..

ED25 do you really want Godfrey to leave for me he has all the attributes to be a top defender he struggled last season due to virul fatigue syndrome after catching C.V. but he showed us enough when he signed to show how good he can be.

{Ed025's Note - I gave him the benefit of the doubt over his long covid issues lamps. But it’s been almost 2years now and you can’t blame the pandemic for him turning backwards at every opportunity mate..

Ed25
Think your being harsh on Godfrey. Looked a real good player when we got him but imo C.V. then being put back in too soon knackered him.

{Ed025's Note - I have said that on more than one occasion PHH but that is wearing very thin now after 2 years. Maybe frank can get a tune out of him but he has to stop the negativity. We can’t afford anymore passengers mate..

I agree with Ed, Michael Keane gets slated for every mistake he makes, last season Goddrey made just as many if not more yet everyone puts it down to CV. Saint-Maximin was in hospital wasn't he? Look at the level he has returned too. Not an excuse anymore.

The defence came in for a lot of stick last season and rightly so.
Last season we had a manager who most fans didn’t want, got the sack and left us in a relegation battle.
I hope the new season starts with the fans giving all the players a clean slate to start with whether they be new signings or existing players.
With the pressure off ( for now) unless we get a repeat of last season, and with this manager should see some good football.
My concern at the moment is Ali, as mo st know there WAS a good footballer there in the past, and now what does he bring to the team.

Each individual’s recovery from sickness will be different, there’s no sense in comparing one to another. The question is, can he kick on and be as good as we hoped? I don’t believe he’s a full back or a wing back, and was often used here. I’d be happy to give him another season to prove himself.

Regarding Alli Brian21, every training video I've seen of him, he's more interested in doing some daft celebratory handshake with teammates than putting the graft in. There's definitely a player in there and hope he can get to the levels he was at when playing for spurs, but I'd rather go all out for a player like Eriksson, or find a quality AM from abroad or in championship. Personally I'd like Gordon to be given a go at AM.

C.V., and in particular long C.V., affect different people in different ways. I had CV in December and I still haven’t returned to the fitness levels I was at pre CV. I struggle for breath still and experience a sudden onset of fatigue when running. A good friend of mine has had a terrible time - can’t lift his arms up and can’t walk unaided. Other people I know that had it are right as rain, so it could just be that Godfrey is one of those that has struggled to get back to fitness. Could also be a confidence thing knowing he’s not 100%.

It's all about opinions ED25 and I respect your view on Godfrey but disagree with it I think after a pre season with FL and his team he will be a different beast next season.

Godfrey needs a run of games at CB. It's silly to play him on the right and on the left then expect him to be at the top of his game for the 5 or so games he plays at CB.

I am normally with you all the way Ed25, but I think on the Godfrey one, I have to disagree mate, cannot disagree that his form dipped after coming back from injury, but my defence in the player I will list below.

Since coming into Everton, he has had to play right back, centre half, left back, pretty much everywhere, one week he has Keane alongside him, following week Mina, then back to Keane and Holgate, with Godfrey switched to a full back.

My personal feeling is Godfrey and Tarkowski might be the future pairing of our centre halves, depending how they both perform, they need to get a run of games together and kept in their centre back positions, on doing so, Godfrey will be stronger and better.

I know it is a bit harsh on Kean and Holgate, but with Mina a liability of playing a run of games, I personally think that Godfrey is for me our best centre half and hope for the future, not ideal but he is versatile as well to slot into the back four, if we hit an injury crisis in defence.

Godfrey is the one I would certainly keep, and see if he can get back to his early promise, too much of a utility player for me, to let go. sorry Ed25.

{Ed025's Note - it’s all about opinions in the end baz. He started off great but has regressed into a very negative player. When he gets the ball his first thought is to turn backwards and give it to Pickford mate. That may be symptom of the way we are playing but as a professional footballer you have to have more about you than that imo..

Ed025 I have to agree with you on this one, he is not tall enough for CB and lacks that extra leap smaller CB's have, he was lucky he was a solid defender and adapted to the full back role better, he got England call ups but was only really ever back up, since his injury he has lacked confidence whether he can get that back well time tells but it will run out soon!
I do fear that Tarkowski is the next Keane or Godfrey, Everton signing players from relegated clubs!

{Ed025's Note - I just think evertonians make too many excuses for our underperforming players wakka. We cite injury, covid, confidence and any other thing we can think of to account for poor form. How about the real reasons? …overpaid, lazy, can’t be arsed and mollycoddled? Other clubs don’t accept it so why should we mate..

Ed25, when you have a midfield like ours, I think I would turn back to Pickford as well, none of the midfielders last season offered to be open to a pass from our defenders, we gave so many silly goals away last season, with losing the ball with dithering on the ball, with lack of options to play a pass, quite a few of our defenders turned and played the ball to either another defender, or our goalkeeper.

If we can get our midfield sorted and keep to a steady defence without having to chop and change every week in defence, I honestly believe Godfrey will kick on again, no matter what happens though, our midfielders have simply got to give an option, for our defenders to pass to.

{Ed025's Note - I agree that our midfield did not help at all baz they were nothing short of awful. But sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns mate at least try and play football. I’m not giving up on Ben just yet but he has to step up to the plate if he wants to play at this level imo..

I agree with you ed025, Godfry has went backwards big time and is no different to how Holgate has went past few years. He has pace and can tackle but his distribution, positioning and carrying the ball out of defence have been atrocious. If he has ‘long C.V.’ and it’s too blame for this then he shouldn’t be playing. This is elite football you’re either fit or your not. I would keep him for now as we can’t afford to replace him and the faults he has can be worked on.

{Ed025's Note - he needs to be coached properly joe. Why that has not happened I don’t know mate but in his present state he is neither use nor ornament to us I’m afraid..
