I don't understand these posts putting down Benitez. All great managers have their faults, just look at the likes of Mourhino. Benitez inherited an overrated, underperforming bunch of overpaid but mediocre players. He brought in Townsend and Gray for 1.7m and they are the best on the park. Speaks volumes. He has had to deal with multiple lt injures that a small squad cannot stand. The important players are just getting back and he has brought in some youngsters with incredible futures. Support him until tge summer and i believe we will move steadily up the table. He wants players with desire that will give their all. So do i.

I don't think we have much choice really Alfar, he is the Boss and that's it, and those of us that are on the 'doubtful' side are just keeping their fingers crossed mate. . . that the results improve and that's just about the size of it with me anyway.

With you there Alfar mate been saying that for ages about Rafa he does need a few windows and time and with the injuries coming to an end with our top players, also did so well in the first window with Gray and Townsend, hopefully 2 or 3 more in and we will move up the table, one thing he has to do though for me is play the youngsters of Dobbin, Simms etc and drop Rondon as even my patience is wearing thin with him, but the future of our Club is certainly looking brighter mate,

Not sure how many on this forum actually go to the games. For the rest of us we can only show our frustration on here. Yes all managers make mistakes but Rafa sees to make more than most. Football is supposed to be entertaining, Rafa style of football is terrible to watch. I do like most of the new players he has taken in, apart from Rondon. We will have to see what happens when all the wounded players are back in action. What I can tell you is the style of football has to improve otherwise my TV will be switched off and those who actually go to the games will not stop showing their frustration.

Alfar1963 A lot of the fan base didn't want Benitez and thought it was an unacceptable appointment others thought it was not a problem as long as the team improved. We would all probably agree that on the transfer front we have seen an improvement. On the playing side our results speak for themselves. Benitez has used the injury issue continually as an excuse which to be fair is quite is a reasonable response. However, while we have had numerous injuries he has set up the side very defensively which hasn't worked as we ship goals and lost matches due to his lack of tactical awareness or reluctance to change what he thinks is a winning formula. I personally don't have a problem with his defensive football as long as we don't loose. Yes he may well be the man we need to sort the club out but at what cost relegation? I don't think so! So unless we start picking up points and winning soon then he will be in an untenable position.

Bm you are correct with everything you say mate, and I will keep saying it. Benitez is not a great manager. He is living on a past reputation that ne longer stands up in the Premier league.
Going the match use to be fun, few beers and a bit of banter and the hope your team would win. Now you have a few beers before the game to get you through the rubbish you have to watch on the pitch.
And it's not all down to the players. I am sick of reading how bad our players are. Well their not, we have a lot of quality in the squad, certainly enough to see off the likes of Brentford.
But we set up to fail, we are so bloody negative it's embarrassing.

Great post brassington blue I go games atmosphere is awful some down to benitez but been like for long time. I also go some Tranmere games when we don't clash with them or if we're away there at home. As I just like to watch football live but there ground is so much louder then we are. Away support at goodison this year has been terrible aswell so quiet dunno if just premier League thing to be honest as seen away fans Tranmere who had only couple hundred be louder then most premier League teams including Liverpool who were so quiet expect when they setting flares off.

Now that some of the injured players are on their way back, I expect us to move up the table and start getting better results. We started the season off well when we had the majority of our 1st team available. Possibly another face or two to bolster the squad in this window. It's been a rough few months but it will get better. Hopefully ?.
