Better than paying £20m for Gollini. If Pickford can keep his head right he's a great keeper and hopefully Begovic is still good enough to keep him on his toes, would prefer Romero though.

I think it’s a good piece of business and a sensible signing, not really sure why it’s underwhelming, he’s a back up keeper and a good one.

Maybe plans to sign Romero as well and sell Pickford. Then would have 2 good deal keepers, Romero first choice and money in the kitty for other players.

Agree in general that we seem to vastly overpay on fees and wages but don't think a freebie is an example of it!

It often feels like some of us Evertonians need our heads checking!

We need a back up keeper; Begovic is ideal for the role. Pickford is the first choice and should start 85%+ of games so many keepers won’t come to us as they won’t get much first team football. Romero would probably cost more and we are still facing at FFP. It also gives us a few years to try and develop a youth keeper or search for a future youth keeper.

I see this a good, sensible move if it come off. Olsen won’t be back after the robbery so our alternatives aren’t obvious to me right now.
