Couple of weeks ago I was just having bit of a laugh saying about having a go for Costa but after hearing Koeman today, that was a huge smile when talking about him. Could something be going on with talks, plus a loan deal will suit everyone including him, he only wants to go to Athletico Madrid but they can't play him till January plus playing in champions league won't be a motive as he won't get that till next season.
I have a feeling this could be a deadline day biggest story, as the whole Costa saga has to be sorted one way or the other.

{Ed002's Note - why would Chelsea loan out Costa?}

I think you may be write about that ed002 but stranger things have happened.

{Ed002's Note - There are clubs interested in buying him. Chelsea has no interest in having to deal with him again next summer.}

Everton could offer Ross Barkley plus cash in exchange for Costa. probably never going to happen, and obviously Costa doesn't want to stay In England let alone come to the north of it, but if Athletico can't afford him, and Chelsea don't want him, then who knows?

I think a player like Costa should be playing at a big club. when europes big 5 come calling it's hard to turn down Barca. Real. Bayern psg and Everton. every other club is just a stepping stone to the big time I am just glad we are now 1 of those top clubs that world class players want to join.

Ed's right Chelsea will want to offload ASAP. Costa will not want to come to the North of England so for me this is not going to happen. If it did it would be great but it would have to be on a long term deal otherwise it is a waste of time.

Ed wouldn't it be beneficial for Chelsea to loan Costa to us before the sell him, so he can cause the rest of the league and Chelseas competition problems?

{Ed002's Note - They are not going to wait a year to sell him.}

So it's less than a week to go all I hear is Costa won't be coming to us so can some one tell me where he could go, as.

{Ed002's Note - try the Chelsea page. They will tell you about three interested clubs and the meeting in Monaco yesterday. This is the Evertonpage.}

Athletico cannot buy the player until January, I think a few are suggesting Costa on loan until January, keep the player fit and if he scores then it will strengthen Chelseas hand for the transfer fee, not playing for a club until January and Athletico can come in with a much lower bid, I would not write this off just yet, especially with Chelsea wanting Barkley. If I remember rightly a few wrote Rooney off as not going to happen, but it did.

After 5 mins at Goodison Costa would fall in love with us, he'd be the new Dunc, it's not going to happen but imagine if it did, the next derby.

buying a player is not the same as registering him with eufa, any team can buy any player when they want they just can't register him. if costa was to be loaned to efc and (personally i think it solves nothing) it would be a loan deal with athl. madrid not chelsea surely madrid would buy him before the deadline day, as they are currently trying to do and they would loan him to us to sharpen his fitness til jan. would make no sense why chelsea would loan a top player for 6mths. " has this even ever happened before"? . so not going to happen. costa is for sale not loan and we all know where he is demanding to go.

We can all dream of 'big name' strikers coming, but Costa is a big no no for me - his attitude isn't Everton and his fitness would take most of a loan spell to get match ready. so a bad deal us - a non starter.

But I do like the look of Slamani at Leicester, looks like what we need and Walsh is clearly a fan. maybe a late bid will secure him. any noise behind the scenes on this one Ed?

{Ed002's Note - What loan spell?}

I may be wide of the mark here but Atletico aren't allowed to buy him until January. If we signed him with the understanding that Atletico will probably buy him in the summer for at least the same price then it is a win win for everyone. Chelsea offload a player who isn't going to play, we get a fully fit Costa for 3/ 4 of the season and Atletico get their man. Even if they signed him in Jan we could get a good 2 months out of him, which if we don't have a deal for any other striker could be essential to our top 4/ 6 hopes.

{Ed002's Note - No, they can buy him now but not register him until January 1. So, just to be clear, you are suggesting that Everton pay Chelsea the €50M asking price for Costa whilst negotiating the sale of a player they don't own to Atletico Madrid next summer - with Atletico guaranteeing Everton the €50M they don't want to pay Chelsea for a player that will then be a year older?. This is of course a player who is currently not even on this continent, is overweight and unfit (so he won't be available for a while), who will go in and possibly disrupt the dressing room taking someone elses place in the team - someone who has been attending training and working hard for Everton and his future, who will likely then be thinking what a load of DFs are running Everton - and will no doubt have ask his agent to look elsewhere for another club for him? Sounds like a plan.}

Great reply that, ed. We'd love a fully fit and enthusiastic Costa but not the current Costa.

Fair enough ed02, I did acknowledge that I may have been wide of the mark, and tbh was hoping that you would put me straight. I did not have any idea of his asking price, as you told us all not to think about the money. It was only an idea, and not necessarily what I want for the club. My whole assumption was based on us paying a fee that Atletico would then pay. As I am not in the know, and don't read any tabloid religiously, I had no idea of the large proposed fee.

{Ed002's Note - Tommy, I like your idea of Everton selling other team's players. But Costa? Surely you should be looking to sell the likes of Harry Kane who would bring in a lot more money?}

Ed 002's second to last reply was absolutely brilliant.
