Right everyone. I've heard a rumour. Don't know how true it is but it makes sense. Pellagrini has the job and it's getting announced Wednesday 1st June. If we announce it before then martinez will be entitled to more compensation. I like everyone am sceptical at the moment because I'm getting sick of all the rumours and I just want it to happen now. This makes sense about pellagrini really so let's see come Wednesday.

So far I think I am the only one not to of been linked to the job.

I hope the rumour you have heard is correct, It sounds right as does the reasons for not announcing it.

My big concern is that they may not give the new manager enough time to rebuild our beloved team, a lot of work needs doing and I think Pellagrini would be the ideal choice, We won't get any trophies in the first two years but we will be a major player after that, with plenty of trophies.

Totally agree grumpy. Pellagrini my first choice tbh. Hope this happens.

Pellegrini isn't everyone's first choice.
He's not my first choice, but what the heck do I know and how can I criticise him?
However, the second leg performance of his ManCity team in the UEFA CL semifinal second-leg against Real Madrid should imho raise serious questions about how he sets up teams, his tactics, and his motivation of players. The team were just one decent performance away from the final, but didn't play like they were. Was that the players' fault or the manager's fault?

I'm not saying that he'd do a poor job at Everton (after all, he did OK at Malaga and Villarreal - clubs compared by many to the current Everton) , but I just question how come he didn't do better with all of the resources at ManCity - notwithstanding the fact that the early announcement of his season-end departure was distinctly disruptive
Also, if he was responsible for the signings at ManCity - in particular the defenders - I'd seriously question his judgement. Of course, if the signings were just dumped on him, then he was on a hiding to nothing.

Judging by the rumours on social media - and the movement in the odds at the bookies - there seems to be a new "favourite" every day, so only those at the top of our club really know who's in the frame and those in the know are keeping quiet and just getting on with it.

Higher ceiling than previous managers without te concerns of a relegation low floor. Again, MP handled the last half of the season with far more dignity than most. Perhaps his contract with City has to finish the year so he gets whatever buyout he is due.

The compensation theory doesn't hold I'm afraid. The only factor effecting Martinez's compensation is when he was fired. Nothing to do with when his replacememt is hired. Another "expert" opinion which isn't.

And how do you know what was written in martinez's contract brian.

I don't. But I have enough common sense to know that what wouldn't be written in it is a clause to say if the club hire someone else before 1st of June he'll get more. Separate issues. Once Martinez is fired that's it. don't know about his contract per se but do know how business and contracts work.

John, Do you honestly believe that when Martinez' contract was worked out, that either him or his agent, had a time limit inserted on when Everton could appoint a new manager in the event of Martinez being sacked? Highly improbable. I'm not saying that the June 1st date isn't right I just don't think it has anything to do with Martinez.

Is the 1st June just when Pellegrini's contract finishes (supposing it's him) which could account for the reason we aren't announcing?

{Ed002's Note - June 30 but it is irrelevant.}

Ed and posters I'm sorry to be the one that tells you all pellegrini had one year left on his contract at the end of last season and on the 7th August 2015 he signed a one year extension to that deal (this was not an optional year it was an extension to take him to June 1st 2017

Mr pellegrini was sacked his contract was not due to end till 2017

Just look it up its on cities website lads.
