I know that some people do not agree with me about the good quality of football that we were served up under Moyes in his last 2 seasons, but now people must see that Martinez inherited a very strong squad with goalscorers all over the pitch and with an age group that could have been improved by adding lots of promising youth to it. Although Martinez has added Besic and McCarthy and Lukaku, he has not replaced the creative midfielders such as Pienaar and Osman or Gibson at all. Bringing in ageing players like Eto'o, Barry and Kone is now starting to show the problems of short term views. As these come to the end of their careers, add to that Howard, Jags, Hibbert and even Baines.and this after losing Distin shows just what a vulnerable position we have been left in. I have gone on and on about this I know, but it really is coming to "fruition" now and no team can incorporate wholesale changes with new players without disruption. It takes half a season minimum for them to bed in (unless they are real super quality like when Chelsea or Man City spend big time. We really need at least 3 signings now and probably another 3 next window. and move on some of our older players. This really is crunch time for our team. We are playing absolutely boring football and you can see the fear in the players eyes.that's another bad thing to consider. I really fear for us and just hope for a miracle. Stoke, Palace and others are still signing players and I hear Stones is going and yet another lazy signing in Evans from Everton is on his way!?

Very valid points degsy, they seem to bring up the problems most are worried about. Do we have the resources to replace these players? Or is Martinez going on about these youngsters because he knows sooner or later they will have to play them? Do we trust Roberto to replace the players? I dont, his wigan team got worse every year & his everton team seem to be going that way! Interesting & worrying few weeks ahead

Totally agree. It's very worrying times for Everton. I was gutted when moyes went. I would have him back in a heartbeat

Evans has won premier leagues with man u, this is where people like you don't know anything. He did the job and won the league 3 times, he's decent and would do the job when stones leaves.

I have mentioned this before go look at the stats for definitively moyes first six months of his last season And we all know what happened round Christmas with fergie, it's like moyes tactics were shared with RM in his first year then he took over last season and well, it ain't good, plus do we not have basically the team from two years ago, maybe if we had a decent signing the team would have a lift

Lanny Toffee, Anderson won the PL. Shall we sign him aswell?

LannyToffee-i have had my fair share of debates with Degsy and I will not argue with you, I just don't feel it is fair to say he knows nothing for saying some facts. Those facts being, we have a lot of issues and they need sorting out. On Evans and I promised to lay off commenting on players but Evans winning trophies with Manchester United does not mean he is a good player nor does it make him an adequate replacement for Stones. Bad players have won things before and good players have won nothing. Casing point, Matt Le Tissier won absolutely nothing with Southampton because Southampton at the time were not a good team. Anderson won things with Manchester United because Manchester United were the best in the League at the time. If you compare these players trophy wise and base their ability off of this, Anderson looks like Zidane and Le Tissier looks like Kilbane. From a standpoint of analysing them as individual players rather than players simply there to take credit for a team effort, Le Tissier is the better player. I used Le Tissier simply because he seemed like a necessary player due to how good he was against the team he played for and same with Anderson. It is a myth imo that players who win trophies are automatically better. I probably did not change or even affect your opinion but I hope it is an example worth looking at.

Well thanks guys for the support.appreciated.I will try and substantiate further. If you read all my post.it is mainly about unbalance of squad, youth and up and coming players versus "lazy" signings. Stones is 21 and obviously one of the best if not the center backs around. Evans is 27/28. Add him in to the squad with the following players signed by Martinez (I know some have gone. but in 2 years these are the players we had at center back) Distin, Alcaraz, Jags, Evans? When we signed Galloway and a couple of other kids.eg Garbutt.they were good future signings. Signing the likes of McCarthy too. But Barry, Kone, Alcarazand now Lennon and maybe Evans. to me it is adding age to an already ageing squad. One or two mature players are needed.not 7 , 8 or 9. Especially when you already have 26 and 27 year olds. It all catches up later on and gives future problems. this is what I was frustratingly trying to point out last year. as players age, they are also more injury prone. Evans may well be a decent player? But without looking for another Stones from Barnsley or another Coleman from Slithgo (both signed at 20 years old) we accept that we have other clubs cast offs. Players deemed not good enough by their clubs! And I can guarantee Evans will be out injured more than Stones over the next 3 seasons. Just because of his age.

Evans is a player on the wain hence Everton are willing to sell him, he is not even an expensive signing which says it all, I would much prefer an up and coming player like Van Dijk, who is more athletic stronger and faster also has good touch and hopefully a more commanding figure.

how embarasing to see your manager being taught a tactical lesson by an ex red , what the hell is going on with this club giving martinez a free run to bring the club down , the cert signing will be lennon and can see evans as well , I have watched van dijk play for celtic and he looks a classy player but why would he want to come to everton the way were going or anyone else half good I hope I am wrong and rm supprises us all. I have supported this club for over 50 years and looked foreword to every game but now I just bite my nails every time I watch
