Diame being tipped as next signing. Do for me!
Believable6
Unbelievable8
I want Honda as next signing. Diame would be good too though. We can get these two for the price we would have paid for Fer.
Agree2
Disagree0
Diame would be a great signing, however not too sure he would come.
There was a bit of needle between him and Martinez in Diames last season at Wigan. This resulted in him spending the second half of the season on the bench.

Villa will want at least 20million and I for one would not want us to pay that on the back of one season not when you can get negrado for same amount would like us to focus on honda now he could be the buy of the season and a massive oppurtunity to tap into Japan's global market 6million will pay for its self with the shirts that would be sold over there surely bill makes sense as Del Boy would say he who dares wins

Martinez must be preparing for the season as if he is going to keep baines and fellaini but will have targets if they do leave.
Believable11
Unbelievable2
Looks like Martinez is getting in players at cheaper prices to increase the numbers. We already have a quality squad so he is giving us strength in depth. I reckon Diame, Alcaraz and a keeper will sign soon. If feli leaves or baines then he will use that money to get in replacements.

With Kone arriving, Jelavic will probably see himself falling down the order. I rate Vic more personally and think he is more of a threat, I wouldn't be surprised is Jelly leaves this summer, any thoughts?
Believable5
Unbelievable18
Jellys better than vic and could score 15-20 a season if playing well as could kone
Agree2
Disagree1
Guys for me at this time jelly is our best attacker, now I know he did himself no favours last season but I feel he will come good, just rb gives him a chance.
Agree0

Jelly had a wobble. Twice the player of kone.
Agree0
Disagree1
08 Jul 2013 17:42:50
Agree with second poster, jelly is better than Vic, Vic is Championship at best, a good game every ten is not good enough. Jelly will get form back with RM
Degsy
Agree0
Disagree0
It looks like Martinez is going to go with 1 up top, and as Kone is much better at holding the ball up than Vic or Jelly then he should walk straight into the team. No idea where that leaves the other 2 - I guess we'll keep one and flog the other.
Agree0
Disagree1
Kone is the sort of striker Jelly needs to play alongside - someone who will do a lot of running and make space and opportunities, have faith Jelly will score again
Agree1
Disagree0
Jelly will be back, won't have to run all over the place anymore, so can focus on getting that round thing in the net.
Agree0
Disagree0
I think we may just have a manager who may be bold enough to play with 2 strikers when it suits, Jela and Kone could just work well together, we shall see!
Agree0
Disagree0
Vic better than jelly are u drunk
Agree1
Disagree0
I love poeple who think jelly was asked to do suttin different he wernt doing in the first 6 months, poor excuse for a dreadful season, i'd still prefer him to vic all day, both not technically the best but vics first touch is shocking

Jelevic probably is better than vic but he wasn't last year no matter what anyone says simples. LIAM!

Jellys first season he played off Cahill and was potent, last season fellani played of jelly? Now who is the striker. Moyes destroyed every striker we had
Agree1

My some bluenoses have short memories, he did everything right when he came, he had a blip last year, moyes playing him out wide, give him a chance, personally I want him to stay, give him the right support, he will come good again.
Bluenose
Agree0

Agree with post saying kone will make space for jelly to flurish thgfest
Agree0
Disagree0
Jelly is proven a great striker great first touch, don't know anything about kone but looks dynamic fast and hard working, but don't dare slag vic off he scored some important goals last season and runs his big powerful socks off great at holding ball up
Agree0
Disagree0
Mark my words Jelavic is class he will come good this season, he just needs someone to show confidence in him which I think RM will do, best of the lot In my opinion
Jamie
Agree0
Disagree0
MikeDeBlue, If you think Vic`s first touch is shocking, just wait till you see Kone`s.
Agree0
Disagree0
Jelly scored goals for fun in the first 6 months, that's was because we were playing the ball down the wings and getting early crosses in and jelly was there to finish it off, last season everything went through the felliani and jelly had to run down the flanks more instead of being in the box waiting for the right cross to come in, and the poster who said moyes destroyed every striker we have had hit the nail on the head, I can't think of one striker moyes signed who left a better player than when we signed them, the list is endless, beattie, johnson, the yak, saha (though he was nearly finished anyway), and now jelly (at least he now has a new manager to play to his strengths instead of changing his style of play).

We've just signed Kone for 5 million and he's nearly 30, Athletico Madrid are about to sign David Villa for 4.4 million and he's 31. Villa is twice the player Kone is and cheaper.
Believable9
Unbelievable9
Haha, just ignore the fact that Villa's wages would be double, possibly more, than what Kone would be on. {Ed025's Note - he also wanted to stay in spain..

Yes but villa's on 100k+ a week and 2 years older
Agree1

Sinnott1878
Agree1

Apparently he wanted to stay in Spain. we couldn't afford his wages anyway. kones a good signing
Agree0
Disagree0
Athletico just signed a nearly 32 year old striker recovering from a leg break who scored 10 league goals to replace the best NO. 9 in the world they sold for 50m aren't we lucky to get a 29 year old striker for 5m who scored or assisted 20 goals last season for a relegated team.
Isn't it easy to twist things.
Quinny

But also on 5 times kones wage, think that might play a part in it.

Sideshow ste
Agree0

If your'e happy with kone over villa you have serious eyesight issues. Class is timeless. Kone is not in the same class get real.
Agree0

In spain Villa will only be paying about 20% on his wage of around 100. 000. over here he'll have to pay 50%. any English club would have to offer him 150. 000 a week just to compete with any spainish club's offer
Agree0

Kone is on Everton wages and villa is about 3 or 4 times Everton wages. Its not all about transfer fees you know
Themanwhotalkssense

Villa ain't the player he once was, main stumbling block would be the mega salary he would demand

BarryTheBlue

4.4 million for him is a good price but 2 things 1. he wouldn't come to us as we are not in the champions league and 2. his wages will be astronomical.

Villa on £150 a week. He should come to us then he would clean up with the tax credits he could claim!
Agree0

Oh really? they wouldve asked something about 8 million from us and look at his wages. PKBLUE

All blues can have an opinion. we are loyal and will support him however the majority I think agree, good signing he aint. My word if alcaraz follows, that is worse than dire. {Ed025's Note - i would say that the majority think he,s a good addition..
Agree0

Amokachi was quite useful in the '95 semi vs Spurs too! How many other African strikers have we had?
Agree0

I think he will be a decent signing for us, and I don't think the fact that he's 29 and from a relegated team makes any difference, I mean people say footballers are at their peak at 27-28, so why at 29 are people saying he's too old for our ageing squad, also I don't think it would of been kone's fault they got relegated so why is that an issue, I mean Samba has just gone back to anzhi for 12 mil and he WAS one the reasons qpr got relegated.

"AC Milan looked set to land Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow this summer, but vice-president Adriano Galliani is now saying he would prefer a January transfer, with Honda's CSKA contract due to expire in December. However, the Russian club would prefer to recoup a fee for Honda - and that could spark renewed interest from Everton to make a move for the 27-year-old".

Hey Ed, do you have any idea whether we are showing any interest in Jese Rodriguez from the Real Madrid Castilla?
Heard he has asked for a transfer as he isn't getting enough first team opportunities. He was considered the biggest talent to emerge from the Castilla in i'm not sure how long, and was part of the Spanish u20 team this year.
This might be incorrect, but I think he scored 18 Liga Adelante goals last season which, for a winger, is pretty decent. Not sure how much he would cost, but in my opinion, would be a great addition to the team. {Ed025's Note - sorry mate..heard nothing on him..

Great signing for 5mil can't wait to see him for a few games before he nicks off to the african cup, what a complete and utter waste. that's our one of 3-4 sigings in key positions sown up, i'm waiting with anticipation for the other quality players to arrive. (detect sarcasm)
Agree3
Disagree0
I'm still shocked by this signing. Not a bad player, but signing someone who is 30 in November with no resale value is a massive statement about Martinez' transfer policy.
This sort of short termism might work for a club with money to burn like Newcastle or QPR but we only have 2-5m per year to spend max and need to sell players on at a profit if we are going to continue to compete. Transfers like this are the quickest way to drag our club back to mid table mediocrity.
Agree1
Disagree0
Give your head a wobble will ya, he scored more goals last season than our two strikers put together, and that was in a sh*te team that got relegated, how many do you think he's going to get in a team that's got a great squad and finished sixth last year. I bet he scores the most out of our strikers this season then people will say 5 mil was a bargain.
Agree1

I might be wrong, but isn't the next ACN in 2015?
Agree0

Just a quick note: There is no CAN this year. It's been back-to-back in 2012 and 2013 so they can move it to an odd year. The next one is Morocco 2015.

Our shirt doesn't suit him.

Uninspiring. Average striker with 29 goals in the last six seasons. Add this to the other two poor strikers and as if by magic. We have a complete set of useless strikers.
Agree0

Agree totally with the poster above a great signing tore us apart twice last season so much so our manager changed tactics in the FA cup to cope with him (unsuccessfully) age irrelevant for price and wage pace what we need get rid of Vic happy days.

Grant Holt going to Wigan for 2m and he is 32 so we only lose 3m if we sell him to a championship team and if we win summat it's paid for itself. I think 5m is fine for a player who will add something to our team.
Agree0

I reckon Bob Martins knows a bit more about him than any of us. Let's be honest, Kone can't do any worse than our other forwards did last season! I don't include Super Kev in that. Let's all get behind the lad. BLUE IMP

Adebayor whos on 120k a week, i'd rather have someone else, a bony or ambeuayang (spelling) but we clearly can afford them, our strikers were poor last year. it was either anichebe or jelavic and 13 goals between is really poor

Knows where the net is? obvously didn't watch the whole 90 mins of the games he played otherwise you would have seen the sitters he missed, and there were a lot.

Aubameyang, who just signed for Dortmund for £12M+, or Bony, who is about to sign for Swansea for £13M? Great (supposedly) players, but not optimal to spend all the available funds filling one hole, when there's plenty more left over.
