any news on the Nike deal? {Ed025's Note - not that i have heard mate..
100%, was on the stadium tour and Jimmy Martin said we are using Nike next year.
Just before we changed from Umbro to Le Coq I was talking to the manager of the Everton shop in Brokenhead who told me that Le Coq and Nike are all part of Kitbag (I think he said it's owned by Nike) He was dead worried at the time because he knew then that once we severed ourselves from Umbro then he'd lose his job, he knew then that the only outlet for the kit was going to be the club shop or website. Apparently Umbro are part of JJB and so he knew then he would be finished up and we wouldn't allow JJB etc. to sell our new merchandice.
Clear as mud - cheers
Kitbag is owned by Findel plc, a B2B and B2C goods and services provider who, amongst other things, own a number of home shopping brands. Because of their online expertise they've run Nike websites in the past (and may still do, as far as I know) but have not, to the best of my knowledge, got any exclusive links to them - they've also done similar things for Reebok and other companies. Whilst I am neither a lawyer nor in possession of insider information I can't see how any deal with Nike would override the Kitbag deal, which still has about 7 years to run.
Nike deal has been agreed for ages, common knowledge lids.
Nike own Umbro and have since 2007.
