I was a bit disappointed with Leighton baines comments on the radio this morning in relation to his probable starting place in England's game.

Itself should have more confidence in his ability and instead of saying how important ashley cole is to England and how he wants him to be back in the England setup he should be saying I've got my chance to impress and I will grasp it with both hands and hopefully continue to be first choice left back.

He does himself no favours sometimes and this goes back to the last world cup when he made comments on being homesick, regardless if those comments were taken out of context or not.

Come on Leighton have more confidence in your own ability and prove to all that you are the best left back in England otherwise I fear you will always play second fiddle to ashley cole.

Trying to draw himself from selection a bit, injuries ect, DM was never happy when players went on international duty. Explains why really - only 50% of baines wants to play for England, he is a 100% club player person

I don't give a monkeys arse what he said about Ashley Cole or England.
As long as he continues to perform for Everton at his present fantastic level and is happy to be at our club then that's all that matters.

We know he's class....everyone knows that he's class. Don't be too disheartened, he's only saying what we all know, and that is as long as ashley cole, john terry, steven gerrard and wayne rooney turn up, their places are nailed on and guaranteed. A half fit rooney walking into the england team, irrespective of what welbeck or carroll did was proof. Hodgson, just like capello.....just like Eriksson......the untouchables will ALWAYS be first on the sheet. Same players always play, then we can't expect different outcomes

I dont think its anything to do with underestimating his own ability. hes a modest guy who knows hes a great player but he has the respect and honesty to admit that ashley cole is better. i love leighton but u have to agree with him. it would be like trying to say that jagielka is better than terry. there is nothing to be ashamed about in being the 2nd best left back in england so dont give the guy grief for saying this.

I am for one still worried that the mancs will get him in January, hope he doesnt have too much of a good game, we need him to stay
