Put it one way I know martinez Got kone for £6mill but give him time.and would never have got 3 signings in a million years on deadline day especially lukaku who's proven goal scorer!

Gut feel is would rather have kept Vic thn hastily boght Kone in for the same money. RM can be under noillusions now in terms of what the fans expect, especially if he reads the posts on here!
Agree1
Disagree0
I would rather of kept Anichibe. But, Kone did do well last year and he is kind of a safety net for Martinez in my eyes as he knows what he is all about and how to use him. Further more Kone's play is similar to Anichibe's in some respects, but hehas more of a goal threat. So overall, we have got rid of Anichibe, who is good and I like but he doesn't exactly bag loads of goals, and have got Lukaku and Kone.
Agree0
Disagree0
Can't believe anyone would say keep Vic, he was a yard dog. Never score double figures a season, was a sulk and used to get knocked off the ball.
He wasn't good enough for Everton
Agree1
Disagree0
Victor Anichebe was simply not good enough, too interested in wrestling CB's and the amount of times I seen him switch off when passes were coming his way was ridiculous, no concentration on the game whatsoever.Hardly prolific was he?.West Brom fans are fuming they spent £6 mill on him.
Agree0
Disagree0
Vic scored 26 all compititions in all the years he was with us.enough said
Agree0

When you buy something its yours, when you loan something you are borrowing it, basically we have borrowed lukaku not signed him, what does that say for our ambition? Probably going to be one of our best players this season and he isn't even ours {Ed025's Note - he is helping out, loads of clubs do it, whats wrong with that?..
Agree0
Disagree0
I understand that ed002 and you are right, I just wish we could buy the type of players we want like the big clubs do, I mean all we are doing is developing him for Chelsea, there's not much chance he will sign for us next year is there {Ed025's Note - no mate...but it does get others playing with a player who enhances the team, ready for when we do buy a new striker, and will be a learning curve for our forwards, as well as giving us a chance to hopefully challenge for europe..
Agree0
Disagree0
People have short memories - technically we have three players who can put the ball in the back of the net
Lukaku 17 goals 4 assists
Kone 13 goals 4 assists
Jellavic 11 goals assists since jan 12
8 goals 5 assists - he went bad being scoring plus 20 goals for other teams the seasons before he played for us - moyes curse on strikers.
Norwich 7 on 8 off 67% poss
West Brom 8 on 6 off 62% poss
Cardiff 3 on 5 off plus penalty 63 % poss

Any idea what Barry's and lukaka wages are as the paper says it will cost everton £10 m. And over a year that's £197 k a week
Why it cost so much {Ed025's Note - its not that much, but in the end we needed them, our season depended on it, so yes we did pay too much, but hopefully its worth it..
Believable12
Unbelievable2
There's no way everton will pay all the wages not a chance .at best we will pay half of ther wages .
Agree0
Disagree1
I know but I thought it was simply loan no money changing hands and city were supposed to be paying a big chunk, just don't know why it's costing so much
Agree0
Disagree0
There will have been a fee for Lukaku, I'd guess £3mill but it's just a guess.
I have no idea on wages but I'd deduct the loan fee before working out the wages per week
TJ
Agree0
Disagree0
Gareth Barry came without a fee and 80% of his wages are being paid by City £125k a week.
Lukaku was £1.5m loan fee and all his wages is to be paid by us £50k a week.
Barry's contact runs out whilst he's with us
So he could sign for us on a free next year.
There is no option to buy Lukaku
Dave M
Agree0

Not true, Citteh wouldn't release unless the wages were paid in full, that's why it nearly fell over. Selling Victor has now paid for Barrys waged

Hi ed,
Just wondering why all through the transfer window you said we had money to spend regardless of sales. but now the window has closed an we have made money, you have said things aren't great on the money side. How is that? {Ed025's Note - i never said we had no money mate, with sky money to come, i think we have a decent war chest, maybe it was another ed?
Believable2
Unbelievable3
I think it was clear for all to see WE HAVE NO MONEY what kind of club offers 12 million over four years if it had not been for the felliani deal going through we would not of signed anyone which is why it all happened so late.
I have always defended Bill Kenwright but not anymore its time for him to walk

04 Sep 2013 19:06:22
Lay BK, how can you complain about the deals done I'm this window? He doesn't pick who we go for but certainly gets a good price when we sell. Plus Baines is still an Everton player which is fantastic. Hope he gets a good contract now. Shold tie him to a new 5 year £70K a week at least. Make him deputy captain. He's 28 he can enjoy that responsibility. BK is good for us, if we could get investment would still want him in control of the club. Its not easy juggling an old stadium with not a lot of cash and fellow fans on his back. The way he was treated last early season was a disgrace. Would you rather have Johnson who sold players withot the managers knowledge? {Ed025's Note - baines will not take a cut of £5k per week..
Agree1
Disagree0
Funny that BK is still bein slated even though he's been mooted as a deciding fa for in getting lukaku (due to his relationship with his agent who also reps Mirallas). Also, just because we said pay over four years doesn't mean we're skint. Madrid still owe Spurs money over Modric and I wouldn't say they're skint so wind ya neck in ya Blue Union doom mongerer.
Agree3

He's not on 75 grand a week ed more like 50 {Ed025's Note - you must know then?..
Agree0
Disagree1
We do have money, all premiership clubs do. But to quote someone I hate but for once spoke sense, Alan Pardew - we identified several offensive players who were options within our price range but none were better than what we had. You have to buy to improve.
Everton are stuck between a rock and a hard place, fans want unrealistic targets, why would a champions league calibre player come to us just because we can afford him? Transfers don't work how a majority think. The player has to want to come. Mirallas essentially sealed the Lukaku loan in the lads hotel room, just because we as fans want eg Honda does not mean Honda sees it as a career opportunity coming to us. We need to get real about the calibre we can attract regardless of cost

Ed025. Over the whole of the transfer window you mentioned we would make a Marque signing even if we didn't sell anyone, it was your understanding we had money. After the window shut I read a few posts asking you if you thought we would spend the profit made in January! To which you responded 'Dont bank on it mate'. Was that just disappointment that we didn't spend more money? Or was you ill advised? With the transfers and sky money surely we have some money to spend in January- at least 15m? If Kenwright did need to sell to buy then our hopes should not have been raised. Do you think we have a 'war chest' as you have stated recently? You mentioned your contacts are close to the club but I think 90% of evertonians could have guessed what would happen. {Ed025's Note - you do get caught up in the moment, but at the end, the club statement confirmed what i had said, that we were buying Mcarthy whether felli was sold or not, which meant we had £15m to spend!..there will be money for january, whether or not we spend it is down to bobby..
Agree0

Thanks for the reply ed. I honestly believe the fellaini money can't just go missing this time so yea I agree. It's down to Roberto whether or not there are new faces in january. We may not need any, we may need injury cover. Who knows!

Hey ed. I was surfing through a list of free agents and Junior Hoilett's name appeared. I'm just wondering, would he be worth a punt or are there issues there. Also ed, could you tell me about how much could be in the transfer kitty and should it be saved for the summer rather than January and go on a shopping spree. From what I hear Peanuts is on a hefty salary since his return, also Hietinga Jags Baines and Jelli are all on 50+
People say we are poor and Moyes over achieved but very few know until this season we had the 7th biggest wage bill in England so considering there is a factual and obvious correlation between league placing and wage bill he never really smashed the barriers of expectancy. No idea on this seasons figures but I would say we were still top 9 in terms of wages. In prem top 8 as QPR have a big bill.
That's why we don't have much to spend ever, as we invest in keeping what we have and therefore sell high. Arteta took a wage cut for example

Manu insist they have paid Everton no more than the £23.5m release clause that was in Fellaini's contract (a clause that expired at the end of July) but Everton say the deal is worth £27.5m. The difference is understood to be Fellaini's own cash sacrifice.
so we got 23.5 for felli and saved ourseves a few miion in future loyalty payments to felli, but he wasnt sold for 27m
still, I think I'd rather have mccarthy and barry anyway - feli ain't that great - he's good at a few things but not a complete player - slow sometimes too
Believable7

REALLY PREFER MCCARTHY TO FELLANI, HAVE YOU WATCHED A GAME WITH FELLI IN THE TEAM?AND WHEN HIS NOT? {Ed025's Note - dazza, stop the capitals mate!...they will be deleted next time..

Its just been on tv that the deal is 26.5 with a further million in add ons. Plus sky say we saved 750,000 in loyalty payments to fellaini so the deal is more like 29 million not the 23.5 man u want us to believe. Its not an undisclosed so the truth is out there
Agree1
Disagree0
Have Man U disclosed it as £27.5m? If they have then that's the price, as they HAVE to declare it to the New York Stock Exchange.
Agree0

Alan Myers just confirmed the fee. Felli didn't take a £4m hit. The fee is understood to be £26.5m rising to £27.5m.
Agree0

Sounds like bovine waste to me, a lot of Utd fans not happy at paying over the odds by dithering and thinking they could get him on the cheap.
They have to do something to take the pressure off the dithering one and this would seem like spin to do that.

Dazza - I watched FA CUP Everton vs Wigan where McCarthy was fantastic and was at it from the off at 100 miles per hour all over the place, whist felli and osman cruised around in first gear just expecting everton to win - mccarthy shoved it right up us that day - mccarthy wil be our engine

The unt story is just that, they PAID £26.5M + 1M ADD ONS = £27. 5 M. This story is a pathetic face saver for moyes and unt. PS. "Word on the street " is that moyes will be back in January for baines. However, this suposes that (a) moyes is still in the job, and (b) that they have another £27.5m burning a hole in their pocket.

Dazza felli stood out in the acm role he played before christmas because he could beat the cbs and outmuscle players and bring the ball down in tight spaces, at dcm for me gibson is better than him and works twice as hard, his passing is not the best and he much less effective, do I prefer to have mccarthy, with barkley in acm and now lukaku up top, n100%

It's about £2M. They had a sell-on clause of somewhere around 20% from his purchase by Wigan. That will come out of Wigan's fee, just like the Liège money will come out of our fee for Fellaini.

Well I hate to say I was proved right never put my name to these things. But I did say McCarthy was a cert said so on International duty when I seen him here in dublin.Fellaini also a cert, Barry only arrived in fear that Utd wouldn't stump up the cash for Fellaini then McCarthy would have had to wait till January.Dave Whelan was told in no uncertain terms to accept the bid Monday night or McCarthy would refuse to play, Martinez promised McCarthy he would take him when he got the Everton job. Anichebe fee is 4m upfront but can rise to 6.2m.Arsenal made an inquiry Sunday for Jagielka hence why we looked at Astori from Cagliari but Arsenal would only go as far as 6m. Chelsea also beat us to the signature of Christian Atsu last week.
So ill see everyone January.

At his age he really can not expect Man City style "silly money" or anything more than a 2 year contract whoever he were to sign for. So I think we have as much if not more chance than anyone else as I am sure he will enjoy his time here.
