We're apparently interested in Wiljnaldum, Koeman likes him as well and Saints are also interested.

Would be a great signing for me!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You will need to battle Roma for him.}

03 Jun 2016 22:05:14
Just had a phone call off a friend telling me Koeman has signed, also there are 4 more people behind the scenes coming in, one of them being a Russian but not Usmanov of Arsenal.

I'd rather we confirmed the DoF first.

I know it's not us but arsenal talking to Leicester about signing vardy for 20 Mil. don't know about others but quite a shock transfer for me. Leicester did just win the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i imagine that would be a fair price geoff but i would like to see how he does next year myself as he was a bit of an unknown quantity this season, his effort and work rate are very impressive though mate..

03 Jun 2016 21:19:42
Any team that get the ball to him really early will do well and Arsenal midfielders can do that.

Agree4 Disagree3

04 Jun 2016 02:13:07
I think he has a clause in his contract stating he can leave for 20m but only to a champions league team, sure I've read something to that effect.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 09:02:35
Vardy and Leicester will not have the same success this coming season. Leicester established a momentum very early on last season and dare I say it, Teams were hesitant against them. This time round Vardy will not find the space to run into.

BBC sport reporting that Southampton have denied Everton permission to speak with Koeman.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

03 Jun 2016 16:51:39
Yes I've just read that as well. However surely if Koeman has started talking to Everton then he will probably force the issue with the Saints? I can't see him and/ or his agent going for talks with Everton if he wasn't keen on the job. If he's had his head turned would Southampton be able to/ want to keep him?

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They could complain about an illegal approach being made.}

03 Jun 2016 17:00:01
always the cheerful chap Ed2.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Sorry if you don't like the truth. Would it be better if I said "Southampton could pop along to the FA on their magical rainbow-colored unicorns and ask the FA to write a billet–doux to Everton to request that they don't talk to Koeman.}

03 Jun 2016 17:07:30
:) you bite so easy Ed, like a firework, just light the blue touch paper and off ye go, only joking Ed, apologies if I upset you.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I'll not ban you just yet.}

03 Jun 2016 17:13:24
Southampton have every right to deny Everton permission to speak with Koeman who is under contract for another year. Can't blame them to be honest. I presume that Koeman can resign, forcing the issue.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jun 2016 18:41:31
It depends entirely on the terms of the contract and on the willingness of either party to enforce those terms. Normally a financial offer is the way to test that willingness and far more likely solution than any injunctive relief, the days of master and servant have long gone.
Given Southampton's recent history in resisting approaches money talks.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jun 2016 17:15:59
What are the rules surrounding an illegal approach Ed? In this case would be as simple as a fine and Koeman signs anyway?!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, because Everton were as far as I recall the last Premier League side fined and warned for tapping up and making an illegal approach for a player. That would be taken in to account if there were a complaint.}

03 Jun 2016 17:27:08
Is there a buy out clause for managers as there is for players?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There isn't a "buy out" clause for players normally, and it can only be enforced if both clubs are working within the same jurisdiction.}

03 Jun 2016 17:49:16

Rather than going for Koeman. why not go for the Southampton scouting set up? They seem to have been the ones who replaced virtually the whole of the Southampton squad over the last 4/ 5 years. twice. prior to Koeman arriving!

Completely agree degsy.

I'm not sure on him to be honest, I think Southampton have such a good set up then most managers could go in there and do a good job. Koeman has done well yes, but I think he gets a lot of credit for good work done by others behind the scenes.

Agree1 Disagree4

03 Jun 2016 14:32:48
This is what Monchi is for, even better than Southamptons undeniably excellent set up. For me going out will be be McGeady, Niasse, Pienaar, Hibbert, Osman, Lukaku, Mori.

Ideal world? Hart, Walcott, Jansenn, Van Dijk, Rooney, bony.

What's everyone's ideal targets?

Agree2 Disagree4

03 Jun 2016 14:45:42
I'd prefer Forster from Southampton to Hart. Bony is a good shout but I see no sense in paying mega bucks to and for Rooney who is the wrong side of 30 and has little or no resale value. Banega from Valencia would be ace in centre mid.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jun 2016 14:55:22
Forster would be great, I wonder whether Saints will insist on a clause whereby we can't sign any of their players particularly given how many they have lost last couple of seasons!

I'd love Walcott, Ashley Williams at Swansea may be a bit old by top defender and what about Wiljnadum at Newcastle?

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Jun 2016 14:58:14
Bangera played for Seville but has just moved on a free to ac Milan.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 16:07:15
I would like Butland over Hart or Forster tbh! And I would prefer a move for Remy, Hernandez or Gameiro as a replacement for Rom!
I would also hope Mori stays as well as adding one more cb alongside Jags and Stones, my choice would be go all out for Varane from Real Madrid!
My midfield choices would be to try and pinch Fernandinho from City! With Gundogan going their he may be available? I like William carvalho as well and I would go for Rooney as well if the opportunity is there.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 23:19:41
I think we are all getting a bit carried away with the new money. There are some unrealistic suggestions, such as Rooney and Fernandinho, and I don't know why people in general like Remy that much. Decent player but would command massive wages, isn't that young and isn't as good as Lukaku so for me would not be a worthwhile replacement.

For me there are a lot of options goalkeeper wise. Mandanda remains an obvious pick as he is free, and then there's the likes of Begovic who may be available for a reasonable price and is a quality keeper in my opinion (just because we have the money doesn't mean we have to spend it) . Butland would be good but would be very expensive.

For me Wijnaldum is a good target as he will be looking to leave, but as Ed002 mentioned above there are quite a few teams after him.

One thing is for sure, it will be an interesting summer!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 00:53:59
I'd love to see approaches for aubameyang and begovic, depending on 1st steamers leaving (prob ROM)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 01:16:38
Hart over priced and over rated, Rooney best days are well and truly gone. Walcott wants to play as a striker but not good enough to play there. Van Dike and Bony are decent.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 10:32:15
A lot of paper talk today Ed and it looks like Koeman as next manager what do you think?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the papers are saying but Everton do want Koeman. He has to think carefully as he knows that there will be a very attractive offer from elsewhere at the end of next season. He also has to decide if he can work within the confines of a system that Everton will be proposing. So some work to be done by teh club.}

03 Jun 2016 10:43:15
This offer at the end of next season?? is it set in stone then?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing is "set in stone" Blue247.}

03 Jun 2016 10:55:05
Exactly Ed002.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jun 2016 11:21:26
Ed 02 - if Southampton say no to efc's request to talk to koeman, is that the end of the matter?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Short of him trying to force the issue, yes. Would you want Manchester United talking directly to John Stones with permission of Everton being given?}

03 Jun 2016 11:26:00
Been on Sky sports news for last hour or so Everton are in talks with him and need to sort out compo with Southampton before taking it further.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 11:31:35
Wasn't trying to provoke an arguement just asking for facts. Efc refused stones requests, bids last season and this time Southampton hold all the cards so all rumours are futile at mo.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what your problem is. I explained the situation as it is.}

03 Jun 2016 11:42:16
No problem, only asked for a fact.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 11:47:13
Think his problem might be that Sdblue1 didn't read the posts correctly

Agree0 Disagree3

03 Jun 2016 15:29:41
We don't know Koeman's contractual terms, it is pure speculation. Given that he is known to move clubs frequently I suspect he would have trigger events within his contract. For example if it is true that Southampton have offered him a new deal that in itself might allow him to consider other offers. The days of employees being servants to their employers have long gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 16:47:51
Have to ask ed I know the answer I will probably receive but are united talking with John stones?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No DB.}

03 Jun 2016 17:09:17
Nice one ed Is there any info on where stones may be playing his football next year? I've read on the city page they are keen with laporte being injured but I also remember last year one of the eds saying he was keen to work under Mr mourinho (I can ask on another page if it would be more applicable)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - NOthing has changed at all. Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all took a look at Everton's John Stones in the summer of 2014 but none made an offer. Chelsea made an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2015 but then moved on to another target. I very much suspect Manchester United (who showed interest some time back) will look again to Stones. Interest of Chelsea has gone for now as they look elsewhere but a recent change in thinking at Barcelona means they are once again looking at Stones as an option. Everton know that Real Madrid have attended a couple of games and are working around a major potential issue that may make them bite. Everton will resist any move, but as ever, paying over the odds could force the matter – as it could force a bid from elsewhere, such as Manchester City - but he is not their preferred choice.}

03 Jun 2016 22:20:13
Nice one.

Sort of Everton related as we look for our new manager and await news. on BBC it is stated that the last time Jack Wiltshire completed 90 minutes for Arsenal. was 6 managers ago for Leeds Utd! Yes they have been through 6 managers since Wiltshire last completed 90 minutes for Arsenal. Crazy statistic and I am so glad our club has not fallen to that level of desperation!
