Question for huytonbluecraig: you posted "Cowpat sid is a legend among football forums globally and has sorely been missed in his absence. Feel like I'm writing a monologue for him, but his banter and jokes were clever and hilarious. Long live cowpat or god rest his soul!" Were you being ironic? I suspect that my "sense of humour bypass" might have been switched on when I read that or that my Sensitive-Sid triggers might have over reacted ;-)

It was actually a calling to u to come back as your original poster name as I was hating guessing which posts were yours. I suspected Gabriel and hancock were your other alias' but couldn't be sure, but just knew a heartfelt post would bring u back out of the woodwork! Long live cowpat. Enough of the sentimental crap now let's have u back giving us some funny reads (banter) and some informative posts. Speak to u soon buddy.;)

I was posting as Gabriel and Hancock, so well guessed!
I'll need a few posts to warm up and get the humour up and running again ;-)

No humour bypass by the way. couldn't agree with u on the john stones playing centre mid, but I wouldn't go against a 3 centre back partnership when barry's out something like this against city could be good to pack the defense and midfield to make it difficult for them, but also allow us to break fast in numbers.

Recent news article:

It has been whispered as a rumour in pubs across Liverpool, occasionally it is even mentioned publicly by executives at both clubs. Today those rumors became fact as Everton and Liverpool announced a historic groundsharing agreement at a brand new stadium.

The stadium would seat 55,000 spectators, and even include a small section behind one goal that could be converted to standing room only at some point in the future. Of greater concern to Everton, the stadium would also include several hundred luxury boxes, allowing the current tenants of Goodison Park to up their matchday revenue from the paltry sums they receive at Goodison Park.

For both clubs location was an important factor, and both clubs and the city came through with an inspired idea. The new stadium will be built in between Goodison Park and Anfield inside Stanley Park. In exchange for the land in the park, both clubs will be donating their current grounds back to the city of Liverpool. The city council plans to demolish both stadiums and turn the area into more green space for Stanley Park.

Other features include an orientation of one goal facing Goodison Park and the opposite towards Anfield in a nod to both clubs. The hope is that the raucous supporter's stands behind each goal will develop the history and tradition currently found at Goodison and Anfield. Both clubs will have team stores on the grounds, as well as separate changing rooms on the home side.

While the deal still has to be ratified by the Liverpool City Council, it is expected to be a formality. All of the members issued statements of support for the announcement, and a meeting has been scheduled for 2 weeks from now for official approval.

Construction is expected to begin this summer, and it is unlikely the stadium will be ready before the 2016-2017 season. The price is being quoted at £400 million, but it would not be surprising to see the cost rise to £500 million after delays and changes are factored in.

Would be great if true but the date of the article was the 1st of April. It's going to be a joke

Apart from the rivalry between us i'd say its a good idea.both teams have there own home changing room.more financial profit for us and the nice touch of the angle of the pitch so the goals face our old grounds.there is bitter rivalry in Italy but think there is only 1 or 2 teams in the italian top flight that don't ground share.its obviously a april 1st joke

Anybody else here wishing it wasn't an april fools joke and think it would propel us into a much more marketable not to mention profitable football club. I would sell almost anything to have this happen, surely both liverpool supporting council members as well as everton supporting ones can see not only the sense of this, but the benefit it would pose for both clubs. Come on city council, do the right thing and put merseyside back on the european football map for 2 teams fighting for european honours and bring back the glory days which flocked interest and tourism to our city from abroad as barca does for its city.

{Ed025's Note - im with you craig, it would benefit both clubs, and the city in general..

There is an article on one of the papers, where the head of Liverpool City Council says that 'Groundsharing is out of the question'

Lukaku's agent confirms meeting with Levy has alreday taken place and the potential of a GBP25m move and substantial increase to the current GBP40k per week wages. Is this games? I cannot imagine a greater need for RM to have his strkers fully focused on winning every one of the remaning game and not to be distracted by the other clubs openly discussing other teams players. Of course, if the CL dreams becomes reality what will LuKaku want then? Perhaps just shows that respect and dignity, that is EFC, is simply a matter of either you have it or you dont.

{Ed025's Note - your right TTM, mind you, decency and daniel levy are two things it is hard to associate..a plastic chairman of a soulless club who reside at the mausoleum that is white hart lane..

03 Apr 2014 11:52:52
I don't think he would go there TT, firstly they won't get in the Champs league, secondly I don't think they will have the money due to overspending on crap in the summer last year, they would have to ship out most of the 110 million they spent and who will pay the prices Levy would be asking, they would have to take a serious hit and as we all know love him or hate him Daniel Levy does not lose money.

If we do not get 4th then Lukaku will undoubdtedly be off to another club that is in the champs league as there will be a few that would want they lad.

Agree1 Disagree0

This is pure desperation from the spuds and the way I see a underhand tactic to disrupt our team in the final few games, this is where more than ever we can show our guts and talent and have that 4th spot. I hope they do land him and his goals dry up sucked up by the moral vacum that is Tottenham Hotspur! Do I sound bitter and twisted lol.

{Ed025's Note - you sound logical to me mate.. :)

Great call that Lancer, sounds plausible mate

Just had a read of the original article in Het Nieuwsblad which states clearly that Everton are in prime position to sign Lukaku, largley due to his desire to stay at the club. However Suprs are also lurking. They cite the oh-so-reliable Daily Mail as being the source of the £20 million being touted

They then raise the perfectly reasonable question of, should Chelsea demand £20 million, would we be able to pay? Possibly not, and Spurs DO have more money than us.

I think there's a lot of bad journalism here, putting together scraps to make a story.

Lukaku himself has repeatedly talked about how happy he is at Everton and has also talked about his desire to play CL football and I think we can all agree that's likelier to happen with us than it is at Spurs.

I say ignore all the pap spouted by dodgy journos and god-awful chairmen and just get behind the team for what could be the best end-of-season run-in in years.

COYB!
