Disappointed we didn't get targets today, but let's get realistic - it's been a good window and we're definitely stronger now than end of last season. Both on and off the pitch.

Sissoko always seemed like a 3rd or 4th choice. And surely you can't blame him for choosing champions league football. Some of the anger towards him is pathetic, he owes us nothing and owes us no loyalty. If our top transfer target became available today we would have ditched him and moved onto someone else.

And anyone thought that we didn't close the deals because they weren't right for the club? Every player has their value, and if we weren't willing to pay over the odds then that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

We're only disappointed because the media circus around deadline day whips fans into a frenzy.

Let's stay positive. 7 points from 9, stronger on and off the pitch. Things are still looking up. COYB.

Bang on Southern_Toffee.

All these absolute belters going on about how we are a laughing stock cause we didn't go an spaff 100m on deadline day.

I would rather keep hold of the money and spend it when we know or have a clear inclination that the player will suit the club and take us to the next level.

We have had a solid window. Stekky has started very well, and he is better than what we had last season.

Williams is a leader, rarely misses games, voice on the pitch and makes us much more solid.

Gueye works his bollocks off and is a steal at 7 million when you look at the likes of Ryan Mason going to Hull for 13 million.

Bolasie gives us something different and makes us a threat on the counter, just like Koeman wants us to play.

Every Newcastle fan i know couldn't wait to see the back of Sissoko, saying he never turned up, only when it suited. Do we really want a player like that, or do we want someone who will play for the shirt and the fans.

Seriously with some fans you can never win, we have made 4 solid signings and then by all accounts another young gem.

Valencia might not be the striker we were looking for, but he is certainly a better option than Niasse or Kone. Pace to burn and can find the net, given the service.

Great start to the season and i think we have a solid side. We have only just come into money, as soon as our league position improves from bottom half of the table, players will be more attracted to us.

Rome wasnt built in a day.

Even though I like our new signings and your post. I cannot help to be cynical. It's seem to me that we have to sell to buy. Also think that the Sissoko deal was smoke screen for us to believed we were in for a big player. When we only getting a loan deal. I just hope that th ground at the dock get the go ahead.

Agree4 Disagree9

01 Sep 2016 03:09:04
Are you kidding? We have come out well.
We have an awesome manager who can change a game and is already improving the players
A DOF to start pushing the club forward
A premier league hardened CB probably one of the best out there
A bargain Midfielder in Gueye who has already been immense this season
A Bolassie who will torment defences all season
We kept Lukaku
And we have some exciting talents in the fringes of the first team!
We have a major shareholder who is wanting to fund new players and a new stadium
Still have a chairman who loves the club, and is at heart an Everton fan
And we haven't forked out on any panic buys!
This was always going to be a tough window and I feel we has come out stronger and stable.

Agree with all the above ST and I'm sure once the disappointment fades (as usual) we will all crack on with it
BUT
Despite a billionaire investor
Despite the highest TV money ever

We have hardly spent a penny. Don't care what you say but THAT is unacceptable.

I get some of it is sound bites from ITK's etc. But Moshiri himself said was anxious to add to squad ( after Bolasie) .

For once we seemed to have money to spend. And yet again it didn't happen.

So crack on with your optimism but I and many more saw this as a real chance to improve and to push ourselves towards top 6. Don't see that happening now, least not this season.

Hopefully by January SW has unearthed a few gems.
Hopefully in near future we will hear about plans for stadium.

But being an Evertonians is like being a crap boxer who keeps having to get up off the canvas.

Well said southern toffee agree with everything u said this summer had been a summer of change for Everton and a change for the better we have a world class manager a new director of football who arrived late in summer and a owner who has big ambitions for are club with stadium and returning are glory days so the deadline day didn't turn out as we hoped but the work in the transfer market before deadline day has made r squad stronger steklenberg has been class in goal adrissa looks the buy of the season Williams is a vocal leader we have been needing for ages and s one of the best defenders in the league and bolasie gives us another dimension going forward with his pace and power and hopefully enner Valencia can repeat his form from his first season at the hammers where he was excellent what ever happens he still better than kone and niasse know we have some serious pace in the attacking and going to be a big threat on the counter attack in away games. Don't forget this gives Walsh some proper time to addentify his targets for January and summer windows and have deals already set up.

I'm OK with not spending £30 million on Sissoko. Looked good in Euros, poor in the prem. Just hope big Ash kicks him all over the place in the new year. What does annoy me is how we were allowed to be strong along by Napoli and Porto.

01 Sep 2016 08:08:47
I like the way everyone trying to be happy but let's get it right this was a shocking transfer window considering we were meant for a busy summer an top signing, we only strengthend with gueye, bolasie has 2 good game go missing for 6/ 7 game for 30mil we over payed, sketelburg is as good as Howard make some good save but always makes a mistake, we have no back up striker if lukaku get injured no back up right bk no top class keeper an with jag or William get injured were bk to square 1, the only good thing about this window is we got a top top manager in Koeman, Koeman has to be gutted.

Agree0 Disagree8

01 Sep 2016 09:05:06
No evidence anything has changed. We had to sell to buy and didn't spend any more than we got in. I want to believe it'll be different but don't see any evidence that it is. That's why I'm confused as to why so many fans have blind faith that money will be available and we will have an impact in the transfer market.

Rob I believe there is money there just don't know how much could be 100mil could not be who knows Everton certainly never came out with how much we have to spend plus rob did u expect us to go do a spurs from a few years ago when they sold bale and go buy for sake of buying which didn't turn out to well for them I know there's a lot of frustration but we need to be patient and let Walsh do his job in the upcoming transfer windows and line up some transfers.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2016 10:01:41
spot on duke. It appears most people who are upset are upset because we didn't spend every penny available to us - regardless of who we spent it on.

I for one would prefer to keep the money to spend on the right players in January or next summer, rather than spend it for the sake of it.

Also - after the Emirates move we saw Arsenal spend drop. We've seen something similar this season with Spurs, Chelsea and to an extent Liverpool (all with new stadiums/ stands to fund) . It could be that money is being put aside for a stadium. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.

And if that is the case then I would prefer a Bramley Moore Stadium over Moussa Sissoko any day of the week.

But we have a good team already! I am glad we didn't blow £100m just because we have it!
Koeman said there is time needed to build and money doesn't make you an overnight success. Valencia on loan makes sense to me, little outlay for a decent backup who if needs be we cut next summer when we are in a better position!
I am sure Moshiri will have learnt from this as well and feel our pain and Walsh hasn't had much time to work yet so let's get behind the team and be positive!

Just because some (of us) voice (type) our criticism's on occasion, that does not make us any less dyed in the wool Everton Supporters than others. We have made some good signings, (Gueye (spelling) will I believe turn out to be a bargain) . However, to carry on the consistency and progress that Koeman and his Staff have begun, it is true that we needed and now still need strengthening in key areas and that has been missed. Someone else typed it is down to our negotiators and it has been that case for some time at this Club but that will change. But meanwhile I will continue to watch and support this beloved Club. So yes a little perspective indeed.

Why is it poor? With Koeman and staff working on the team I think what we have will improve, we are light in places but have some talented youngsters on the fringes of the first team. The board don't owe us any explanation what so ever they tried to get deals done and it didn't happen that's just life. We are in a better state than we have been in since the Mid 80's and you're still moaning about not wasting money on over inflated prices for mediocre players that are not world class. we have signed 7 players in the window 4 1st team and 3 good young prospects what's wrong with that? If someone tells me Valencia is a viable option I'm not having that. He was signed on the back of a World Cup he played well in. He has proven nothing at club level. Kingpin, your assessment of FM when he was on the board is totally wide of the mark. Kroenke is the main man on their board and doesn't let the likes of Usinov, who owns about 40% of the gunners, spend any of his billions. So to suggest that FM wouldn't spend his cash there, and is continuing in the same manner with us, is rather stupid and juvenile. If your arsenal mate tells you otherwise then he doesn't know much about his own club.

BK has been our strong and weak link through the years and I am sorry to say that until Mr Moshri becomes outright owner Bill will continue to be a millstone. Bill saved us from Mr Picnic Basket and was very lucky in the appointment of Moyes but his decisions since especially with his choice of CEO (How the heck was Mr Moshri conned into giving Elstone a place on the board) have been detrimental to our progress. Thank goodness things now are now beginning to look good indeed and will only get better once BK has taken a true back seat.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 22:32:25
Not sure you can blame BK for not being able to offer champions league football. Sissoko obviously agreed to join us because we were the only ones who met the £30m valuation at the time. Can't blame him for changing his mind when an offer of champions league football came in, although ignoring calls and getting your agent to give the news is childish. If he shows the same lack of balls on the pitch he won't last long anyway.

Would rather end up with no signings today than Valencia though. No better than Niasse.

{Ed025's Note - i think we may well be thwarted on the first 2 dan, we offered top dollar but no cigar by the looks of it, valencia should be given a chance, with better players around him like we possess he could be a decent recruit mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 22:07:40
Ed25 would this lead to McCarthy then being made available to Sunderland and in another consequence Kone coming to us?

Referring to posts below that only chance we'll get Kone is if McCarthy goes the other.

Surely that's more likely if we get Sissoko in the bag?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it could be the case NBTB but it will depend also if macca wants to go there mate..

31 Aug 2016 22:11:20

Believable2 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2016 20:33:23
Depends which Sissoko turns up on a Saturday. Either way 30m is overpriced but I guess that's just a reflection of where the market is for prem teams. Powerful line up on the cards with rom, Sissoko, bolasie, gueye Williams. Not going to get outmuscled.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 20:37:34
Current market prices are mad. Luiz for £32m? Stones for £47.5 .
We get Sissoko motivated then is a great buy. Who cares about the price.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 20:38:47
Are you taking the p*** sissoko is a top player and you have to put price tag to one side Bournemouth paid £15m for Jordan ibre Bristol city sold average championship player for £15m and were about to buy a French international who can dominate midfield when he feels like it, great buy.

Agree truebluemetez if we get the sissoko from the euros then we have an excellent player which I think we will get because ronnie won't stand for sissoko not preforming he always demands the best and and for his players to put a shift in if they don't he will tell them exactly what he is thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 21:00:19
We can't get rid of one player who can't score so we sign another who can't score who we won't be able to get rid of and a player we don't need for 30 million not worth 5 I wouldn't play him in a flat side what a joke Kooman is and our so called director of football is useless.

Agree2 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 21:07:17
I remember Everton fans slating the board when Valencia signed for West Ham and not us. Get a grip! Imagine Sissoko and Gana in our midfield. I like the sound of that.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 21:09:10
Newcastle played him out on the wing, hence he was crap. France played him as his natural position of box to box midfielder and he was good.

He is going to be gayes partner imo in the long run and can also double as a attack midfielder.

30 is high I agree, but if we get the euro sissiko then that's a snip, him and Gaye will be beasts in that midfield.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 21:20:01
Swinners I agree, lot of sides will fear the athleticism of our team. Sissoko good player and will certainly strengthen the squad. Not doubting his quality, just needs the right attitude. 30m is a lot of money (as is 15m for Ibe) but it's all relative and that's what you have to pay to get good players these days. I've wanted us to splash the cash so can't grumble if we pull it off, whatever the price. If his heads right he'll be quality for us.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 21:23:03
We have paid the going rate get yer head around the fee and get behind the lad he was the one in French team in the euros who looked like the worldy not Pogba so just give the lad a chance.

Koeman will turn him into a toure and we will be laughing.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 21:31:35
The question is: Is Sissoko better than McCarthy. The answer is yes. So forget about the money. Is Enner Valencia better than nobody at all as back up? Yes. That'll do. Maybe we should have got better but I'm not too upset.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 21:32:12
And look at what pog just gone for rich 🤔

Like ed said let's hold out on the jury.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 21:40:23
Forget about the fee it is irrelevant as none of us are itk of how football finances work. Just look at what the player brings to us and what we need. Gareth Barry as great as he has been is probably in his last season so Sissoko is his long term replacement. Enner Valencia is a stop gap to add cover for the season. Remember we are a work in progrest and our squad is much improved with the ins.

RK is building a powerful side, more aggressive more direct and more adaptable he is shaking off those that cannot adapt! Top man!
It won't all happen in one window but for whatever reason certain targets could not come then we should realise for the first time in decades we were back shopping at the top table!

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 21:01:36
We will see. I'm not convinced at all. Nearly 60 mil on sissoko and bolaise and now talk of a West Ham reject.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - when valencia joined west ham he was the dogs bo*****s and getting rave reviews, sometimes a player is the wrong fit for a certain side, who,s to say he cant come good in a different set up and playing alongside better players?, for gods sake give the guy a chance and if he turns out to be a lemon then by all means have your moan...but give him a chance ffs..

31 Aug 2016 21:13:59
Spot on ed, there is lots of players that look average for years then all of a sudden there in the spot light, never many are amazing from day one, just takes that one transfer that makes them the right fit.

Let's not forget Leicester! They bought a certain type of player, fast grafters, put them together with tactics that suit and won a title.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right BS, if we had of signed vardy 2 years ago they would all be screaming blue murder...and look at him now, united let pogba go on a free and we done the same with mustafi, they just never fitted that club...it does not mean they are bad players mate..

31 Aug 2016 21:28:51
team is starting to look like a big tough tackling team that will break strong and fast.

Looking forward to seeing the defence make a solid brick wall with the tough tackling pop up everywhere Gaye, who spreads it to sissiko who drives forward with our full backs, bolas, kev, bark and the kak

Just hope the reality matches what I see in my head haha.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A good player but at the asking price it does smack of a little panic - given the availablility of others.}

31 Aug 2016 20:30:00
I am quite happy with the proposed signing of Sissoko. I mentioned him as a player to Ed025 nearly 2 years ago, i know his form dropped off last season but if we can get the Sissoko of his first season at Newcastle and from euro 16 for France and i think RK will demand that at the least we have a beast of a player. And you're spot on Ed025 we are stronger than we were at the start of the season, i am happy enough for now with the squad another forward would be the icing on the cake though.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2016 17:04:46
Click bait Ed? I have understand that with 6 or so hours to go we have no fee agreed with any club for any player so factor in medicals and you can start to eliminate players by geography.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there are ways and means to get around that svenny...keep the faith mate..

31 Aug 2016 14:23:04

Great young prospects according to Martinez and Kevin Reeves. I'd trust Koeman and Walsh over those two any day!

I agree cropper would just prefer if we strengthened our first team as a priority. not being a pessimist, far from it.

we have agreed 1.4million deal for england u20 player Dominic Calvert-Lewin beating Utd to the player. had good record on loan last season. More signings to follow don't u just love TDD. Brahimi next and them Gabiadini and will be a very happy blue.

A newspaper in Portugal reporting Porto don't want to sell brahimi.

Sissoko deal not happening with Everton. Not interested in selling McCarthy unless Brahmin did arrive but looking unlikely as no medical booked. Kobe deal may still happen but Gabbiadini deal will only go ahead if Napoli can find a replacement and the Italian window shuts at 9pm. To sum up arm I'm not getting my hopes up.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2016 13:57:28
Italian window is 10 we may need that extra hour.

Spurs cool interest in Sissoko due to fee.

31 Aug 2016 11:19:13
Just read that too. I am guessing we are closer to their valuation than Spurs. same as with a number of players. these players would rather play with Champions League clubs but when they do not offer enough the "selling" clubs refuse to deal. looks like a 10.59pm signing spree with the risk of one or two missing out. oh the joys of the transfer window!

31 Aug 2016 11:21:18
Says on Ssn sisoko going to Spurs.

Brahmin allegedly close.
Talks yesterday with Sissoko
Can still see Kone happening.
All those and a GK

Just a normal Everton deadline day eh!
But just imagine COYB.

Read on sky page, Spurs interested now in Sissoko. Whether genuine or not remains to be seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Newcastle has said they have had no offers for Moussa Sissoko at this time, they are choosing their words carefully as there have been offers but none close to being acceptable and none even half of the asking price. An approach from Napoli was expected to yield an offer but the price was far too high for them and they won't return as business is complete for them. Everton, West Brom and Spurs are interested but at a much lower price than is being asked. Crystal Palace have already been scared off by the price. Unless a significantly higher offer is made he will stay where he is.}

31 Aug 2016 08:53:57
I forgot Niasse and McHeady out Murf.
That must top the lot!

We should offer McCarthy and 15 million and see what they think of that.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 10:30:13
I think desperation is creeping in with Newcastle selling Sissoko. Willing to accept 5 installments of 6mil and making this news public seems like a last ditch effort to get offers in.
Is there a possibility that Benitez want on a crazy spending spree assuring the board he would balance the books a little by selling Sissoko? He always seemed like a manager who loves to buy tonnes of players and i think he was sure he could play hardball and demand 30mil after the Euro's performances. I have a feeling a move will happen somewhere but at a much lower price.

31 Aug 2016 14:48:08
