guy I work with in wigan told me today that mccarthy is going to everton. his father in law is a wigan fan and lives in the same street as mccarthy and was speaking to mccarthy's dad last night who confirmed the deal is close.

Believable7 Unbelievable8

His Dad lives in Scotland

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah I believe mccarthy ince and another will come. Fellie will go but we all know that. Have u got anything ed? I hope we don't sign barry but in fairness to him he is and always has been better than overrated osman #awfulandalwayshasbeen

Agree0 Disagree1

So because his dad lives in scotland does that mean he can't visit him in wigan!

Agree1 Disagree0

So you heard from a guy at work who heard from his father in law, who heard from mcarthys father (who lives in the same street in scotland) who heard from the mcarthy that mcarthy is going to everton (but the deal is not done, its only close)

Well I guess this is a rumour site.

Ed, could we afford mccarthy if no one leaves?

bluepaddy {Ed025's Note - yes..

Believable4 Unbelievable7

If that is true then it's criminal that we aren't purchasing; Alderweireld and Moses both slipping away.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not a chance Weil only get a10 million player if we sell, are transfer policy over the last 10 years tells us that's how we operate .

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 18:49:57
the transfer policy over the past 10 years has not had a transfer window where we have recieved sky money though?! CraigHuytonBlue

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed, If that's the case (we could afford him), why hasn't he been brought in already?
Assuming, we could afford him without sales then should we expect a £20m signing should Felli leave, or a couple of £10m players?
Granville. {Ed025's Note - its about timing granville, you can be sure things are happening behind the scenes mate, bobby will have a trick or 2 up his sleeve...you wait and see..

Agree2 Disagree0

2 in none out. That's what RM has implied, why dismiss it as false the geezer has not had a chance to say anything false so far. He stated we are in a strong enough financial position to not sell. No transfer requests have been handed in. He also said he hoped for 1 or 2 before the window closes as we have a specific area he feels needs strengthening.
If and when these statements are shown to be false then let's have a go. As for now 4 players in, none have left

in reply to "why hasn't he been brought in already?" maybe the price of a player differs during a transfer window and become potentially cheaper? CraigHuytonBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can afford mCathy if no one leaves we can't we sign players now?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we hear much untill after tomorrow match

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025 I hope your right. but I can't see it myself after all we are everton we don't do simple! SpekeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, not long to wait ed, it's just so frustrating being outspent by all and sundry and seeing our best players plucked from us by unscrupulous parasites, but I guess we're all used to that by now. Life as a blue can be so hard at times but I wouldn't change it for the world.
Here's hoping we do some decent business.
Cheers
Granville. {Ed025's Note - its all part of being an evertonian granvile mate..

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm just wondering who were Martinez targets at Wigan if they'd have stayed up?
If he is the manager we expect him to be he would've had maybe three or four targets himself. But instead he went back for the other 3 albeit Robles was from Athletico and Alcaraz was free, they were all technically from Wigan.
I'm slightly worried if Ed025 believes we have cash, why haven't we invested it in securing the services of a quality ball playing midfielder and a quality striker. As I would've liked us to send that 30 year old Winni Parks body double jogging on up the M62 to the French Speaking Mercenaries who play for the Skunks and spend £17-£20m on one top drawer
striker, or one equally as good midfielder.
Because if I were Baines or Fellaini I'd be looking for the door given the talent we have on show. Because its only Mirallas and the young kids who've played lately have done so in the Everton way. With pride, passion and flair.
And in that I mean Coleman, Barkley, Deulofeu.
I have to include the 2 central defenders but in terms of the new system, their play out from the back is shocking.
Hope this is posted as its taken me ages and I think it's a fair response to the opening posters question.
Dave M {Ed025's Note - you make some fair points dave..

its seems Manchester United have turned there attentions to ander herrera of bilbao, similar player to felliani put more pace and better passer, this may mean felli is staying. Secondly they have bid 6mil under his release clause, I don't know what's happening over there but money must be tight ha

MikeDeBlue

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Maybe that's why they wanted moyes haha

Agree2 Disagree0

They have apparently bid 10m for De Rossi too, which was instantly rejected.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ander Herrera couldn't be any less like Fellaini if be tried. He is a small, tricky central midfield player like Thiago, Fabregas, Gundogan and all the other centre mids they've tried to sign. Nothing like Fellaini. Even if they sign him, they'll still be lacking muscle in the centre of midfield and probably will continue persueing Marouane.

Agree2 Disagree0

Just because Manchester United have bid less than the fellas release clause doesn't mean they are skint. release clauses don't indicate a players value, would you pay more than £100m for sergio busquets? exactly

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 16:33:50
Transfer window is coming to a close and I do believe that we will be seeing a lot of ins and outs in the next few days, I think any offer above 40 million baines and fellaini will both leave and I do believe that is the right price tag, as for ins Bobby will have ideas on who he wants I think James McCarthy is a definate signing and Gareth Barry will sign on a loan as for any other players I think we could be surprised, it's all exciting times to be a blue though! 3 points away at Cardiff tomorrow and look forward to unving a few new players! COYB

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Exciting times if we bring them in without loosing baines and felli but definitely not if we loose them and McCarthey and Barry are replacements!

Agree0 Disagree1

Thats more like it! Bit of positvity! Up the toffees!

Agree1 Disagree0

Well I don't think its the right price tag uve got the boards mentality have you seen some of the prices paid for other players

Agree0 Disagree1

Finally, something positive.

What about Jelavic a bit of talk about him going on loan. Thoghts

Believable3 Unbelievable15

And be left with 2 senior recognised strikers? Can't see it happening myself.
Granville.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't rate Jelavic at all I think the club should cut its losses and move him on.

Agree1 Disagree5

I like him but its a case of how long can u give him. He had most of last season an the last few games to show he can improve but just doesn't seem to be doing it. Would love to see henadez from utd come to us?

Agree4 Disagree1

And leave us with just kone? I don't think so

Agree4 Disagree0

Not a chance he will go out on loan we have no replacement and no money for one either

Agree2 Disagree0

No chance were short of quality upfront as it is

MikeDeBlue

Agree1 Disagree0

Lol - no player over 20 will be loaned out by us. We have a tiny squad. Even if we bought another striker still need the bodies. Teams with big squads loan players out with options to buy, we simply can not do that. If and it's a big IF either or both Felli and Baines goes we need 4. Our manager has already said we need 2. Personally I think f all will happen and would be pleased with that.
Svenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Why, what's the point in transfer window?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are lining up a striker, either buy or loan, then I think this s probably best. Jelavic is a good poacher, but has the tendancy to just dissapear in the game. He has the ability, he just can't show it on a consistant basis. Look in chelsea's direction for a on-loan striker.

We have started talks over fee
For mccarthy
An tom ince sorting wages an we are in
Talks with dundee utd over a young lad.
reckon we could get four or five in by
Monday.

Believable5 Unbelievable19

Il be gutted if we spend 15 million on mccarthy, if that's what the board call marquee we are truly knackered

Agree4 Disagree1

I think the dundee utd kid is called gauld. They call him baby messi up there.17 yrs old.worth a look

Agree1 Disagree3

Surely there are better midfield players better than McCarthy, plus Holtby is available! Come on Martinez!!!

Rich84

Agree4 Disagree1

Rather have McCarthy play for us than holt by. not been impressed by him at all in Germany or here! McCarthy on the other hand is a talented lad. although the price is bloated!

Agree1 Disagree4

You are underestimating McCarthy - he is class believe me

Agree5 Disagree3

Macarthy is a class act the new Roy keane in my view will be one of the top cm in Europe in a few years 15m may seem high but the lad will be a top investment

Agree5 Disagree3

Agree mccarthy before holtby for me.

stewillow

Agree2 Disagree4

10m for McCarthy seems fairer to me he's good but not 15m good yet

Agree3 Disagree0

I was hoping it would be Ryan Gauld when I saw Dundee Utd in the original post. Supposed to be a quality player, played in all of the club's matches so far. Scored in the league cup, too. Just 17, so would be one for the future. (Maybe buy him and leave him on loan there this season?)

Ince would give us another wide option, maybe so Pienaar could get more time in the middle. He's got baggage, though.

McCarthy I would be fine with, but only if the price is decent. Getting in another midfielder of any sort would be wonderful. Sigurdsson would be nice, Holtby too. But I worry about the price with any of them.

Agree1 Disagree0

Mccarthy is a quality player and he is only 22. Price is deft over inflated but he will deft be a priced asset

Agree1 Disagree3

Mccarthey and holtby are two different players completely, I think if we do put a bid in for McCarthy it will be because felli is on his way out

MikeDeBlue

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah, I wouldn't say 15 million is the worst thing in the world for McCarthy. I do think that a lot of you are being swayed by the fact he plays for Wigan, Martinez is their ex-manager and for some that has raised questions over his ability (both Bobby and McCarthy). That being said, we knew **** all about Fellaini when we signed him for 15 million but we were all excited and he's turned out alright like. If, (and it should be pointed out that its all speculation) we are going to bid 15 million for McCarthy, then I think we should trust Martinez' judgement. By all accounts, the guy is a rough diamond and for what people are paying lately for players (read Bale and half of Spurs' signings) then 15 million isn't a "huge" amount of money to spend. Its practically the new 7 million in our transfer market now.

Agree1 Disagree2

The Dundee United player is Ryan Gauld, left winger think he's just turned 18 and a big prospect.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 17:27:45
Is this the same McCarthy who played for Ireland not so long ago and tore a hole in the England midfield, dominating it almost by himself (against carrick and lampard) both valued of upwards of £20Mill and £7Mill respectively! Think £10-15Mill is a sound investment for a talented young pass master

Agree2 Disagree2

Neither Sigurdsson or Holtby will come cheap because Levy is the toughest negotiator in Europe bar none

Agree3 Disagree0

It's still a lot of money when you look at some of the players spurs have brought in, Capoue £9m, Erikksen £11-12m? I'd have preferred both to McCarthy. Having said that I do rate McCarthy and believe he'll be one of the best CM's around in years to come.
Granville.

Agree1 Disagree1

McCarthy is highly priced, but is is a class act and I think him Fellaini and Barkley would make a lethal Central midfield. Although, if he comes, Fellaini would probably laready be out the door.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 12:14:15
Spurs are making sigurdsson and holtby available. Would be nice to see at least one of these at Goodison come monday night.

Believable17 Unbelievable4

Would take either of them two but Levy will screw as much cash for them as possible. I think they are each maybe £8-10m. What do you reckon Ed?
Cheeks {Ed025's Note - not a bad guess that cheeks..

Agree3 Disagree0

Don't think anyone should bid for any of them. Think Tottenham should be left totally overloaded with players and their wages for being a bunch of greedy gits! Teach levy a lesson (not that I'm jealous or anything). Bluenose Will

Agree5 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 13:22:36
Sigurdson in a second, very good player, don't understand why he never gets playtime
Degs

Agree3 Disagree0

Probably because spurs have about 6 centre mids playing for 2 or 3 places Degs, they are right hoarders
Cheeks

Agree1 Disagree0

How can you expect to sell 2 players which were bought in last 12 months not first team and expect to make profit or not loose money on them market value says they don't play regular enough so that should reflect asking price and there we are asking for a decent return on fellaini who has grown into a top player since we bought him and a stand out performer in last couple seasons yet Manchester United don't want to pay much more than what we paid for him Bk demand top dollar otherwise he stays

Agree3 Disagree0

To think that holtby and sigurdsson are there two worst midfielders is a bit of a joke, were miles away from having that dilemma

MikeDeBlue

Agree2 Disagree0

Why would b pay 15m for mccarthy when we could pay maybe 16-17m for the pair.

Agree1 Disagree0

Holtby is a everton true blue fan, why not then!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 11:48:12
Anything between 38-40mil and BK will sell he's stiffed us again right on deadline day Moyes knows this is how he does business hide transfer funds. If BK wants to make a statement to the fans and get people back on side he should just come out and say not for sale unless player wants to go! The silence from the board defening. feel sorry for RM having such a promise breaking chairman!

1878

Believable12 Unbelievable13

Indeed. nothing more needs to be said BK will stuff us as per usual. the man is soulless .I'd rather deal with lucifer himself, at least I would know we're I am. {Ed025's Note - have a day off biffy mate..

Agree3 Disagree2

30 Aug 2013 12:10:30
Silence from the Board may be quite simply because NO bid has been lodged. This is just paper talk. And it is only going to get worse over the next few days. OS was quick to announce the last 'bid' and its' rejection so expect the same should anything else happen. Otherwise condemn this talk to the Fish & Chip wrappers.

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree ed. Biffy give it a rest! Or go support barcelona or bayern munich were everything is rosey!

Agree1 Disagree3

Only in the life of an evertonian can someone be slated for being optimistic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im reserving judgement at the moment but if we do sell them on transfer day it will cause an uproar, papers are generally lazy and spout anything that has minimal substance but i'm not a 100% confident were we will be come the 3rd

MikeDeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it you defend BK then ed? He made a promise to RM we had money to spend on players in the press conference but we've only bought 2. Plus the TV money has gone into the club to clear the debt and improve Goodison but hasn't gone into the transfer budget. He's a born liar and needs to go.

Agree1 Disagree1

We are not a cash rich club- fact! BK can make promises to RM but its our creditors ( the bank) that call the shots. If it means that we don't get the money promised to spend on over priced players and the club survives to exist for the next 10 years, I will take that any day. At the very least BK is a true Everton fan - he maybe misguided or wrong at times but doesn't treat the club as a plaything. Those that want to moan point the finger at the fat cats on the board that seem to be pointless (IMO) being on the board. All successful in business yet won't invest when the team is at its best point since the mid eighties to push onto the next level. At the end of the day support the playing staff to victory!

GMBUK {Ed025's Note - good stuff GMB..

Agree1 Disagree1

Bill Kenwright isn't the "biggest Evertonian" he claims to be, the fans who pay there hard earned wages on tickets are the true fans and expect our board to deliver.

Agree0 Disagree1

In all fairness toffee mike you have made a comment that all fans will like but it's nonsense. The average fan has put nowhere near as much into the club let alone have the stress that any business owner who employes a large staff who depend on the club for he living. Step into the real world. We won't be bullied into selling and withe the bids turned down so far the worst will only happen at a top price to soften the blow. Oh yeah and it was the evil bill as you paint him who bought these players in the first place there for clearly invests what he can. Get behind the club properly and do one with these theory's on bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

And if ed wishes to defend bill guess what? He can and is right to do so.

Agree0 Disagree0

ToffeeMike, Do you honestly think that the Sly money is paid up front?
It's paid in instalments with add ons every time we're shown on telly. To suggest that it's already spent or pocketed is ludicrous. If it was paid up front, clubs wouldn't need to borrow using it as security.

i realy don't think everton will sell fellaini for less than 30 mill, we paid 15-17mill for him an he's got a sell on with that so it wouldn't make sence to let him go for less than 30 mill.and baines is one of the best left backs in the world so you would have to be looking at 25mill for him, and the bog eyed freek up the m62 won't pay that kind of money for them.thay will both stay, we will roll cardiff 3.0 2morra, coyb

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Said the same think last week

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines may be one of the best left backs in the world but he's 29 so he's not worth £25 million.Full backs never command fee's like that especially when they're pushin 30.No-one will pay more than £16 mill for him.Sadly I think him and the wig will be gone on monday for £40 mill.I just hope for BK's sake we've got replacements lined up.I'd be delighted if they both stay but i'm not looking forward to monday.Normally it's an exciting day, not this year though eh. {Ed025's Note - it never is for me paul!!.. :(

Everton make bid for McCarthy - source sky tv

Believable7 Unbelievable11

S*y "sources" normally are providers of good information - that doesn't mean that something like a transfer will definitely happen, but it usually means that something like premilimary contact about a possible transfer is really occurring. On the other hand, what appears in the printed press - or is said on TV shows by print journalists (bar a very ofew exceptions) - is usually a load of regurgitated tripe trawled by the lazy journos from the Internet or other media. That's just my opinion - anyone actually trust most journos to do a properly researched & honestly reported story these days?
BaronHardup {Ed025's Note - not me baron..

BK haters should be giving him credit for not bowing to the mancs, sStill think felli will go if price is right for us

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Ah right nice one, ill forget the millions wasted on failed stadiums, ill forget the fact he has asset stripped the club to feed his ego, ill forget the way he refuses to sell the club, but pretends he wants to, the constant lies, the blubbering cheesy acting. The fact he has invested the grand sum of nothing in the club. I'll forget how we have had a massive increase in funds but spent next to nothing before we have to sell to buy. But yeah if he holds out for a decent price for baines and Felli ill forgive him all that. {Ed025's Note - not a big fan then?.. :)

Agree5 Disagree1

Everton hold all the cards if we keep saying no its not like the players are going to sulk and refuse to play it is a World Cup year after all if anything they will try harder to remain in their countries plans. And if the Belgium squad lives up to their potential we could have a World Cup winner with a vastly increased price tag.

Agree3 Disagree2

He'll cave in yet don't worry about that. It's a given both are gone. What the first reply said. This pathetic, spineless board should be run out of town after this. Final straw for me. Hope BK has his ky jelly at hand.

Agree1 Disagree2

Oh dear.the stage the lights the action. No book, no play, is ever over in the first few pages/scenes. BK is a master act at drama. do you not think the whole proceedings have been staged. the hero, the villain, then the hero. By turning down a couple of stupid offers, he is the hero, Manchester United are the villains, but the hero loses an arm for the cause. this will be the selling of felli and bains . then he gets an artificial one on Monday. some signings. it's all staged my friend, RIGHT FROM THE START. Reminds me of Star Wars. {Ed025's Note - cheers biffy spielberg.. :)

Second poster TAKE A BOW MATE!
Hate these luvvie lovers who tell me I should be grateful for a man who paid £30m for our club does nothing, invests nothing, sells our real estate then 14 years later puts it up for £150m!
The man is a terminal illness

Dave M

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave M- he didn't pay £30m for the club, it was a loan.
A lot of the debt came from the board doing a Glazier's, after Robert Earl came on board. What the board members paid for the club, they borrowed back and put the debt on the club. So they got EFC for nothing. The finances have struggled ever since. And now he wants £150m, but we all know Philip Greene is the puppet master and Earl the man behind all the vibrac loans.
