The Toffees were keen on Manolas, and almost concluded a move for the AEK Athens defender on deadline day but the move failed to materialise.
Manolas, whose contract with AEK was due to expire in the summer, had attracted further interest from the likes of Newcastle, Bolton and Wigan.

anyone know if there is an agreement between everton and spurs that would stop pienaar playing next weekend? {Ed001's Note - if he is on loan he can't play against his parent club, Premier League rules forbid that.}
