Hi Ed I see Brahimi's name touted about in some sites taken from a Portuguese newspaper is this recycling old news or is there still an interest?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - old news as far as im aware ST, we did have him watched a couple of times but nothing more than that im told, i like the look of him though and would be happy if we did make progress on this one mate..

Ed think brahimi would be a great signing but not holding my breath on us getting him or are intrest in him especially they way we where messed about with by Porto we have never really had any good transfer dealings with any Portuguese sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we have never had the resources that we have at our disposal now though duke, money talks and even the porto,s of this world will have to sit up and listen if we come a calling with a fistful of euro,s mate..

In his Sharkopod the other day, Ed002 gave some interesting info on Everton's possible incoming and outgoing transfer activity. He gave caveats to these comments, not least because of the ongoing changes to Everton's scouting and recruitment setup.
He mentioned that Everton might listen to offers for David Henen, which isn't that surprising, as the player hasn't broken through to first-team reckoning. However, I was taken aback when it was suggested that the club might also listen to offers for Liam Walsh. If Ed002 meant a loan, then I could understand that, but it sounded to me that a permanent move was being mooted. As Ed002 is proven to be well-informed and well-connected, I am concerned that the club would consider permanently releasing one of our bright young talents. I hope I just misheard or misunderstood the comment.

{Ed002's Note - The club would like to keep him but are aware of interest. If they can come up with a plan for him going forward for a couple of years that would help.}

Ed002: thanks for clarifying this.

I personally see Walsh and Davies as the future midfield pairing of efc. I hope we keep both of these.

{Ed025's Note - they still have a lot to prove but yes why not, i would like to see a bit more of our youngsters being given a chance fanatic..

We have several other very promising U23/ U18 players, but it's vital that when (if? ) they get first-team opportunities that they deliver performances that convince RK they're worthy of a place in the first-team squad. If they don't continue working hard and productively at U23/ U18 level, they won't get first-team opportunities - and, even more importantly imho, if they don't do what RK wants when they're selected for the first-team, then RK will eventually bring in players who do. It's surely that simple?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - ron has never really been famous for bringing youth through to be honest sid, im hoping that its because the talent at other clubs has not been as strong as it is at everton but im guessing there mate..

28 Nov 2016 22:32:49
Ed025: if RK's three-year project is to make Everton European qualifiers, then he may well not want to risk that by blooding inexperienced U23/ U18 players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats certainly a fair point sid but i would hope if the young guys are good enough they will be given a shot at least, otherwise having an academy would be pointless mate..

28 Nov 2016 23:00:24
Ed025: your point about the value of having an academy is one I raised in a post a few days ago - although I wasn't advocating its closure, but rather just seeking other fans' opinions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im a big fan of the academy system sid but there must be a means to an end, it does seem at times that we are developing players for the championship loan market and im not too happy about that, dont get me wrong i dont expect a wayne rooney every season but i would like to see one or two at least getting on the bench or maybe a run out in a league cup game, it must be soul destroying for these kids who work as hard as they can to make a career for themselves overlooked for a player who obviously has no future at the club (kone being a prime example).give these young guys a shot i say, if they are not good enough then fair enough but we wont know unless they are given a chance, im sure the majority of supporters would be in favour of a policy similar to that mate..

The players are there and are good enough if givin the chance, just off the top of my he's mustafi dyer Baines all at efc at some point but released, and am sure there are many more, seems to me the prob is too impatient for them to develop. Maybe the prob is that they need a more competitive competition to regularly showcase there talant. I know the club try find this for the promising players but maybe not enough if these players keep slipping through yet obvs turn out to be very good pl players. Maybe a b team that can play against other professional teams not academy teams I dnt know if it is allowed or can be done bu isn't that what Barcelona do? I know they have a b team I don't know if they play in proper pro leagues like Barcelona or its just Spanish academy leagues. I might sound stupid sayin this Bu just a thought.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they play in the Spanish league system and it has destroyed the lower leagues, to the point where they do not even have two full divisions of fully pro teams because of it. The answer is to have a proper academy that doesn't just buy players from around the world, but works on developing local players. Athletic Bilbao are the model to follow, not the government assisted cheats of Real Madrid and Barcelona.}

A good point that Ed001 I didn't realise that it had damaged the lower leagues so badly, not a huge follower of Spanish football just the odd game here and there on Sky.
On the point of loaning players I think there have been a few examples of where this hasn't worked out well, loans cut short for lack of game time! For certain players surely the championship isn't a bad league for development, it's still a tough division.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it has been a disaster for them, people here in Spain now only really care about Barca or Madrid, they have taken most of the following from the rest. It would be a disaster in the English leagues if that happened. We have the most professional clubs in the world, there is no way most could survive if this were to happen.}
