Everton not signing a new left back in this window even on loan, plenty about, would be more of a crime than not replacing Lukaku under Koeman - if not give me garbutt or Galloway any day over Cuco (obvious weak link) martina, get seamus back in asap, in the modern era of football the fullbacks are probably the most important positions on the pitch due to their dual role, must be decent defensively with an attacking flair, especially due to the formation that many clubs including Everton now play, Jonjoe and cuco are no were near good enough at present even the teams below us in much worse positions have superior full backs currently - to have spent so much money and not even have a strong 11 is bad management all round disappointing we can't dven field s decent 11 got no width st all - width comes from fullbacks these days! Look at the clubs doing well full backs assists/ goals etc moshiri sign Ryan Bertrand please and with dramas be a different team! Promise.

Couldn't agree more lad, a list of left backs should have been identified by October, can only blame managers and Walsh for this unprofessional and pathetic recruitment plan.

You can have a list as long as your arm but If they are not available, ie clubs will not sell you cannot just buy them!

It is still a bit short sighted of the club. Because we were doing well before the xmas break they probably took their eye off the ball and didn't put the leg work in. At the very least, Garbutt should have
been looked at earlier with a view to getting him in.

You cannot tell me that there isn't a better left back than Martina available anywhere.

Peter Kay has cancelled his tour sure he's available to have a game I'd take him over martina.

Sure Ray Wilson could do the LB job. He’s only 83. One of the best if younger posters ask.

I think the club were shocked at Barkley's determination to leave. Especially as it coincided with Lukaku. That's are 2 top scorers and there was and obvious need to replace them both. We were then caught up in the shock of extra TV money causing an instant increase intop players values. so the likes of Sigurdson's fee of £45 million cames as a shock. Add into that Giroud mucking about. signing/ not signing and then the availability of Rooney and Klaasen. (Klaasen's fee being somewhat lower) . The whole lot was messy and poor. then Baines got injured. it is just all messy. but the dice didn't fall in the best way for us.

Time to finish the post that my busy fingered daughter sent this morning before I finished it.

I've been thinking (never good news). I want to look at this situation not from an Evertonian but an Allardyce perspective.
Fair to say that there was some oppostion to his appointment. The against camp would argue that he came with a reputation as a "money grabber" and a defensive, hoof it and hope coach.

Allardyce proponents would argue that he was a victim of circumstance. He had cut his coat according to his cloth and at the clubs he hsd managed he'd had only very low grade cloth available. I think the Allardyce camp woild argue that there was evidence at Bolton, Okocha et al, that given the opportunity he was not a one dimensional coach.

They would also argue that this was his chance to alter his legacy. An opportunity with a club that has some resource and would allow him to show that his previous clubs had forced him to stiflehis desire to play a progressive style of football because of their desperate need for results and inability to attract the type of player that he might prefer.

If we accept the pro Allardyce case that he was constrained by circumstance in the past and now he has the opportunity to break free of those shackles and once and for all destroy the image of him as a money grabber (see his England demise) and a negative coach (see West Ham inter alia).

If that is his position, do you think that we are yet in a position to say he has achieved that? If not what do you think are the signs that he might yet?

He came into a mess left by a highly reputable manager and adopted a completely unbalanced team, low on confidence, with a lack of cohesion and who were completely strugglingwith relegation fear rearing its ugly head. i'm mot a SA fan really to be honest, i didn't want him and don't think he is long term (what is these days though? ) But perspective needs to be added whem judging him. Too early yet to say.

Apparently we are supposed to be thinking of letting sandro go on loan and mulling over letting lookman go on loan which I think would be a big mistake the lad should be apart of are match day squad because he makes an impact when he comes on in games.

I wouldn't blame him if he has Guernsey, I still think he could do a job for us but can't see him getting a look in I can't even see where he'd fit it atm, even Cenk looked isolated against West brom which we definitely need to address along with our dedence, I just hope we are using this week and next to get on the training pitch and sort everything out we've got a few tough games coming up and we need to show a lot more fight and togetherness than we have done.
