I see Thomas Tuchel's odds have shortened for next manager.

Interested in eds views on him as a manager. From the media hype I would be very excited (he's talked about in the same breath as some of the best in the world) . However when you look a bit further into it, he struggled at Dortmund, fell out with the board and was repeatedly accused of playing players out of position with negative effects (Portugal LB Gueirrero in CM as an example) .

Strikes me as sounding very similar to Koeman 18 months ago. What is eds view?

Are there any top managers from the continent that would be interested in the job? Is there any interest in Lucien Favre?

Thanks Ed!

{Ed002's Note - Tuchel has been a mixed bag as a manager and is yet again taking a year off. I don't see him joining Everton and I don't see Favre leaving Nice for Everton.}

Hi Ed who would you think we could get as our manager thanks.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i think a lot would fancy it eddy, favre is a contender along with silva and tuchel i think, rhino is in the box seat for now so i think we should wait and see how he does first mate..

Thanks Ed. Shame about Favre - I've been following him a bit since you brought him to my attention on this site when Martinez left and seems like he has been doing excellent things at Nice. Liverpool in winter is a tough sell from south of France as well!

You spoke about Favre last time - who do you think would be a good choice this time round?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think he would be a great choice but I don't see it happening.}

I think we already have our next manager in place, his name is Rhino, like Ed said I would sit back and wait to see how Rhino does before jumping into the fire too quickly.

In light of the fact both Giggs and Neville have thrown their hat into the ring i would just like to put my name forward as well, not much experience but you know, i'll give it a go.

You can't do any worse than Martinez or Koeman Smit.

They have just turned me down,

Apparently I'm not happy enough.

Does anyone else think that Giggs and Neville are disrespecting our beloved club by putting their names forward. i mean were in trouble but were not that screwed yet.

Do we even know if Rhino wants it long term? He loves the club. If it doesn't work out that will most likely be his career at Everton over. I'm not sure he'd be willing to risk that. Sure he'll take it as a temporary but I'm not even sure he'd accept if it was offered long term.

I think he would rip your arm off for the job. I think he said after the Norwich game he would love the job but it's out of his hands. If he did get the job and it didn't work out, I'd like to see him kept at the club tho, back into the coaching set up.

That is a major concern for me too. Unsworth has done a great job at U23 but I think with this current crop of players in the form they are giving him the job full time may not be the best for his long term progression. Would love to see him succeed though.

With the search for a new manager underway would any of the Ed’s be able to provide some insight into how clubs would typically go about this process?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Clubs will often seek advice from third parties, sometimes they advertise and they will eventually turn up with a shortlist. The next move would be to approach the agents of the people they are keen on, and if employed, their clubs. If allowed by the clubs concerned, they will be given permission to talk with the person concerned.}

Ed 002. I’m not a betting man so don’t care much for what the odds say. So would you know if Thomas Tuchel is a realistic target or is he in all probability going to BM shortly.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No I would not see him as a realistic target and he has no agreement with BM.

Sky sports are reporting he’s open to the Everton job.

am I the only one who doesn't see the hype behind tuchel? he took a newly promoted team to upper mid table then walked away then got Dortmund job did ok then left I want our next appointment to be long term someone who has a plan and sees it threw, plus if your going off what he did at Mainz then isn't that very similar to what dyche has done up to now? all's am saying is I want the right man for the job not the most well known name. Unsworth for me full time if not then dyche has earned his chance at a club on the next rung than Burnley ( no offence to burnley)

What does "long term" mean in this day and age? It's an unrealistic requirement. We want the best man for the job. Obviously we want to get it right and obviously have a long reign. But that's something that happens very rarely. So I'll just settle for a manager that takes us forward.

Tuchel was disapointed his board took no consideration for shock or players feeling after the bomb attack. He left because he felt wronged. Now I think he can't be just or not seeing it through. He never got a pay off 3rd 2nd and a cup after klopp had a disaster seems strong to me.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - that is not true, he left because he was on the verge of the sack anyway. He had fallen out with half the club and his constant tinkering with tactics had lost him the playing staff. The board were forcing him out and he knew it. That is why he is still unemployed, because the kind of club he thinks he deserves has no interest in hiring him. I would steer well clear if I was Everton. It would be very much like rehiring Koeman.}

24 Oct 2017 14:38:22
by long term I mean someone who doesn't see us as a stepping stone, am sure unsworth would see us as a long term job and would we himself taking us forward, even dyche I think would be excited to take over us and take us forward. the likes of ancelotti would only be here to restore reputation before moving on again as soon as possible, tuchel would be hoping to do well with us with the hope of landing arsenal after Wenger or united after Jose, I no it's not as exciting for some people but we need someone who is at least going to try and see us as a project they can get fully immersed into and not a good opportunity to advertise themselves.

Any English manager would be grateful for the job. doh! Because British managers rarely get top jobs. Think you need a reality check mate. So you want a manager for 20 years Who is English and loves EFF? Great! See you in league 1. Idiotic hopes.

Best not have a manager with ambition. delusional.

25 Oct 2017 00:44:08
Ed01 he walked before a payoff really your wrong makes no sence.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how does it make no sense? You get the sack from a job like he had and it affects your reputation. It also helps that he was unhappy because he was at loggerheads with the board. No one wants to stay in a job where they are unhappy and he could afford to do without the payoff. Not everyone puts money first.}

25 Oct 2017 08:09:41
why will we be in league one if we have an English manager for 20 years? hahahaha.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2017 06:08:21
Who would you suggest e that is realistically achievable ed1?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - my suggestion was Gasperini of Atalanta. They are not in a position to turn down offers and he knows that they cannot reasonably expect to compete in the long term.}

30 Oct 2017 06:15:59
Thanks ed1.

Also where has Roger Schmidt gone to (I think China? ) ? Always loked him when he was at Leverkusen and I think he would be a good appointment for Everton.

Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Beijing Gouan mate. One of the bigger Chinese clubs so he might be out of reach financially.}

24 Oct 2017 00:38:31
For what it's worth, I think we need to hold back rushing in for a manager for the short term, let Unsworth have a go, only then will we know if he can step in and get the team believing and winning again, nothing lost and if it doesn't work out, we can then bring a manager in around December if needed.

Step up or not, we now have an Evertonian in who knows what it means to the fans and has a winning mentality who will not set up a team to get a draw, exciting times ahead.

According to sky sports Bill and the players want Rhino as gaffer.

Theoretical question? If he did appoint him and he went horribly wrong where would that leave Unsworth?

Yeah but does he want it long term?
