Would be great to have sneijder at the club. Would no doubt pass on a few tricks of the trade and experience to young ross and others. couple of seasons in the prem then a coaching role perhaps?

Murf he's good player but at 32 is really worth the gamble and to be honest we seem to be linked to every Dutch player going can't see us signing anyone till start of pre season except for maybe a goalkeeper.

would get 2 good years out of him Duke and apparently he is ripping the Turkish league up scoring 1 in 3, Id have him in an instant mate, small fee but wages would have to be a tasty 150k a week minimum, worth it for a 2 year stint, like you said though we seem to be linked with every Dutch player going and probably the Koeman factor again, can't wait for the season to start to see who we have, weird having money.

Seems to be about building a strong squad. Any player with the experience and calibre of this player would always be a good addition. Getting 20 strong players competing for places is always a good thing. Regardless of age imo.

Ed, any truth to Everton agreeing release clause for Sneijder? Seen some reports of £5.6m fee agreed.
Also what's the story with financial fair play? Technically are we allowed to have a net spend of the reported £100m we are supposed to be spending this summer.
{Ed002's Note - Southampton made an enquiry about Sneijder in December 2014 but didn't follow it up - although it substantiates that there has been interest from Kopeman in the past. Lazio have discussed him with Galatasaray but they have stepped back because of the wages being demanded. Their possible willingness to sell in the summer may be driven by a need to reduce wages rather than any transfer fee as he is still seen as an asset by the club - but the club has a European ban to deal with. Forget anything about any release clause. I am not aware of any firm interest from Everton at this time but it doesn't mean that there isn't.
The additional income is in next season's budget (starting July 1) and comes from the additional television money. If there is an issue it might be wages rather than transfer fees.}
