Wow Ed I really hope this is true about the takeover many many thanks for keeping all of us genuine fans with all the latest on this fantastic Christmas present, but as usual we get all the Doom merchants if only they would listen to people in the know, GuernseyBlue.

{Ed002's Note - John Jay Moores and Charles Noell are looking to invest in the soccer market and have the funding in place to buy the stake of present owner Bill Kenwight in Everton.

Bill Kenwight has granted a six week no fly zone around Everton to allow due diligence to be undertaken and discussions to be held on an exclusive basis. No doubt top of the list will be the stadium, but the investors are not going in to this blind and will already appreciate the situation. The outcome is unclear and I suspect Everton will not know either. I would throw my hat in the ring on the positive side and say that it can be done over the coming months with Bill Kenwright taking the role of club president (or something similar) for life.}

Not sure about these guys. On one hand Moores is a close friend with President Carter who I have a lot of respect for and Moores also gives away a lot to charity. So all positive so far and let's hope that he continues his charitable work with Everton. On the other hand he is a business man who has made his money by buying and then selling companies for a profit. One of the companies that both Moores and Noell were involved with is Peregrine. If you read this article it describes issues with that company.

http://goo.gl/YCf0bd

The other concern is what happened with the 30% investment in Swansea FC that went belly up due to concerns by the Swansea Supporters Association. What were their concerns?
I know that the Moores and Noell group are doing due diligence on our club. Let's hope that our club has done due diligence on them.

{Ed002's Note - I think it is a tough thing to do to call someone in question because of their friends. Quite frankly with the posts I have been seeing they investors would be best of forgetting Everton and the toxic fans and look to a club where they would be appreciated.}

Spot on ed, this is what annoys me, too many unambitious fans who are scared of change in case "we might end up like Birmingham or Portsmouth". So? We are going to end up like them in the not too distant future when Goodison fails it's safety regulations and we ground share with Tranmere, our best players leave and we are unable to attract quality. They think we can stay a "top 8" side so to speak forever. Well when Palace, Leicester, Southampton, West Ham, Stoke and Swansea overtake us permanently along with a few others we will have fallen. Most clubs are evolving, we are not, highly ignorant to think we can keep floating above teams with better stadiums, managers and fans by buying shrewd bargains and selling at a high price forever. Ken and co stay, we go down and stay down in a couple of seasons, they don't, we may actually achieve something. Baffles me why so many fans want to stay as we are.

1940Mike I totally see where your coming from about Swansea. If it was that good of an investment why did they turn it down? I'd love to know their concerns about it because its a bit obvious that any club wouldn't want to turn away money.

Also why are they turning to Everton now? Swansea was obviously their preference so I'd be a bit suspicious that it seems they don't care what club they take over. Make you think would they care about what happens to Everton. At least with Bill we knew he was a true blue. I really appreciated what Bill done for the club when he took over. There wasn't a big queue of investors then.

That brings me to my next point. After all I said there about concerns with the takeover I have to agree with Ed and Swan. We should appreciate the interest and the positive sign of someone looking into investing.

1940Mike you mention the potential owners made money by buying and selling clubs. I'd look at that in a very positive way. It shows they can see potential for Everton to grow in value. They must have a good idea of how to achieve that otherwise they wouldn't be looking into buying the club. And they also have a good history of doing exactly that.

Also as I said before I trust big Bill and that he will do what's right for Everton. He said that before and I have no reason to doubt his word. I trust his judgment and believe he will do everything he can for the good of Everton.

All in all I think its a positive development and hopefully it will help our great club to challenge at the very top again. I'm sure we all want to see that and all would be delighted to see it happen.

Why the fascination with being second choice because if I remember rightly Man City owners came to us first but we turned them away, so I bet Man City fans were not bothered about being 2nd choice.

Everton fans need to get real, so what if they want a return on their investment. If you were investing big money in something wouldn't you want a return?

A lot of fans accuse our board of wanting something for nothing it looks like to me Everton fans are exactly the same.

they walked away from Swansea because after there initial 30% they wanted to buy another 30% making them owners which the Swansea chairman didn't want.

I wasn't saying I was against the take-over, just trying to give both sides of the picture with these two characters. As with most of these groups they do come with some baggage and it is ridiculous to ignore them. I think it is reasonable to assume that the club has done due diligence on the potential owners since it is imperative that the new owners are good for the club. I am ambitious for the club Swan but I do believe that after searching for new owners all this time that Kenwright must get it right when he finally sells. As supporters we can only wait and hope all turns out well.

you can't get any more baggage than earl and green hiding in the back ground if they do invest in us it'll be more of an investment that kenwright and Co have put into us.

Wow I didn't realise the Man City owners wanted to buy Everton.

The rest of your comment Mike S is exactly what I said before about the current board. Overall I think they done a good job. The value of the club has increased. As you say no one will work for nothing. The board deserve a return. As far as I know they haven't received much since they took over.

Received plenty of criticism and abuse for no real reason. As far as I remember when they took over the club was not in a healthy state. It certainly is now. Therefore they deserve credit and a payout. Can't see where people can say they haven't improved the club. To me it's obvious they have.

If the new owners are looking to make a profit all the better. Because they'll obviously have improved the club to make a profit. They also must be capable and in the know how to improve a club if its something they have done in the past.

Seems good to me but of course there's going to be concern's. You can't walk into anything in life without giving it consideration.

Ed002 1940 Mike only mentioned that John Moore is a friend of ex president Carter no more than that.
But, to the matter of what shares the americans are after. Anyone who thinks that Bill Kenwrights shares will satisfy is very, very mistaken. Nothing but a majority will do. The last thing they will want is opposition in the board room.
This is only my opinion, but I would think that they would want unanimous votes rather than majority. They may well appoint a board of directors to run the club but I would think they would be none voting positions with all decisions being made by Moores and his partners.

With Everton in desperate need of a lift heading in to the January window, as they are in danger of being left behind in mid-table, despite Lukaku's goals, what are they looking at for January?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A great question Ed001. It is difficult to answer anything and pin it on January as clubs are not keen to sell – but I have tried to give a hint (but it is only my opinion about January). Lots of players are looked at over the course of a season and I will try and capture as many of the ones where there has been more than a glance or two:

Goalkeeper:

Possible: Aston Villa and Stoke are both looking at Marseille's Steve Mandanda with interest from elsewhere (notably Crystal Palace, Atletico, Spurs and Arsenal) seemingly gone. There was speculation that Everton had submitted a bid for a January move - but the offer that has been made is from Aston Villa. He is out of contract in the summer and Marseille would ideally like a new deal. They would prefer not to sell in January as it gives them a goalkeeping issue they don't want right now. I don't know where the supposed interest of Everton has come from but it would not be out of the question. (A side note that Marseille have a representative coming in to England today (Wednesday) and she will be staying for about a week – she will be available to discuss transfers but is concentrating on another for this trip (and celebrating Christmas).)

Unlikely: I am not aware of any but Everton interest is not out of the question as he is available and will be moving in January: Roma have dropped their interest in Dnipro's Denys Boyko who looks to be on the way to Besiktas - possibly even as part of a double sale including centre back Douglas.

Centre Back:

Unlikely: According to his agent there is interest in Nemanja Vidic from Aston Villa and Everton but the reported interest of Spartak Moscow is yet to be confirmed. Inter say otherwise, but would be open to a sale in January.

Unlikely: Werder Bremen's Yannik Vestergaard was subject of an approach by Newcastle in the summer but the club declined any chance to discuss a transfer. Southampton and Everton both watched the player at the start of the season but did not, according to his club, declare any formal interest.}

Left Back:

Possible and I think an attempt will be made: Everton, Southampton, Swansea, Sunderland and West Ham have all maintained an interest in Leeds' Sam Byram. Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal have had him watched but it is now Aston Villa who are making an active effort to bring Byram to the Premier League.

Midfield:

Possible: Dynamo Kyiv managed to persuade Yarmolenko not to move this past summer and managed to get him to sign a new contract. There has been interest over the past year from Roma, Spurs, Stoke, Fiorentina, Everton, Inter and Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, Napoli and Manchester City all dropped their interest and PSG, who were considering Yarmolenko as a possible option to replace Lavezzi this past summer, seem to have done the same - at least for now but there is a reasonable chance Lavezzi could move in January. Yarmolenko has expressed a desire to move to Barcelona or Chelsea - and there has been more than one approach made directly to the Chelsea to gauge their interest. Right now it looks like Barcelona are considering their options for a January bid, but much will depend for them on an entirely separate matter. Whilst an approach was made to the agent of Yarmolenko by Arsenal in the summer, nothing could be done. He spent the summer screwing everyone around and there is still a lingering view he could do the same in January. I don't know if anything can be done or if Everton, Arsenal or Barcelona will push, but Piero Ausilio was at a recent game to look again at him - so Inter might still be in the mix.

Possible but his club will try to resist a January sale: Auxerre midfielder Brahim Konate has been attracting the attention of a number of English sides with Everton, Reading, Ipswich and Brighton all having him watched this season.

Won’t happen: Liverpool have agreed in principle to the transfer of Red Star Belgrade's Marko Grujic after agreeing a record fee with his club and an astonishing wage offer. The player will almost certainly spend the rest of the season with Red Star and move in the summer. I don't know what promise of game time had been made but it has been suggested by his representative that Liverpool have offered him Gerrard's number 8 shirt as wel. This far outstrips any other offer, particularly if the club are promising game time. Inter could not match the transfer fee in cash and certainly not the wages even though they were his first choice destination. Chelsea offered a lower transfer fee (that could have been resolved) but would not be looking at him for the first team for probably two and a half years. That would comprise an initial loan back to Red Star (perhaps even next season at Red Star but that was not their preference) and then a year on loan in Europe as he is seen as being behind the pecking order of another midfield player who is going through that process already. Liverpool's offer has also ended interest from Napoli, Hamburg, Wolfsburg, PSG, Manchester United, Everton, Stuttgart, Manchester City and Roma - although none of these clubs put a firm offer on the table as I understand it. Much is expected of him.

Attacking Midfield/Wing:

I think Everton can complete a deal but not just yet – one for the future certainly and a real coup if the club can do it: Dinamo Zagreb's winger Josip Brekalo is on the "wonderkid" list but underage so any move is problemmatic in the short term. However, interest from Everton is sustained with both Dinamo Moscow and Monaco also showing an interest.

If Arsenal don’t revive interest, possibly one for the summer: Empoli's Riccardo Saponara continues to be of interest to both Everton and Juventus who have been told they will not listen to offers before the summer. Previous interest of Norwich has waned.

Unlikely: Genoa's Diego Perotti will be available in the summer and may just be available in January at the right price. Everton, Belgrano, Arsenal, Vélez Sarsfield and Milan have looked at him recently with both Arsenal and Milan open to making a January deal.

Very, very unlikely: Braga's Rafa Silva has been of interested to Benfica, Everton, Southampton, Wolfsburg and Schalke for a number of months. West Ham, Real Betis, Bayer Leverkusen, Marseille and Spurs have had him watched but to the best of my knowledge not enquired further at this time. Notably, Manchester United have watched in several recent games.

Forward:

Possible: Bordeaux's Wahbi Khazri has attracted the interest of several English clubs including Swansea (whose interest may have gone), Newcastle, Stoke and Everton (strenghthening) already this season. Previous interest from Roma, Fenerbahce and Sunderland has gone. Lille and Arsenal had the player watched but have no declared interest. Aston Villa are interested but may need to survive before anything could be done.

Unlikely but I expect Everton to maintain their interest: Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Napoli, Everton and Spurs have also been looking at Dembele since the start of the season. A move in January seems unlikely and the player will need to be advised that he doesn't end up moving only be sat on the bench or playing in the reserves.

Very unlikely: Mainz, PSV, Hannover, Bruge and Rapid Wien had shown interest in Sion’s Moussa Konate over the summer with most stepping back because of the asking price and Rapid Wien opting for Tomi Correa. Everton, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal have been represented at games this season and may follow up on their interest but all will be aware that it would be a big step up for the player who has struggled when chances came in Russia and Italy.

Won’t happen: Marseille have a sustained interest in Toulouse's Wissam Ben Yedder and thought they had completed a deal in the summer - they will return in January for the player who needs a change of club having struggled at the start of this season. Interest from Everton has gone and I suspect the interest of Spurs has now shifted elsewhere.

Won’t happen: Basel's Breel Embolo remains a target of Borussia Moenchengladbach, Spurs, Inter, Juventus, Red Bull Leipzig and West Ham with Basel aware of interest from all of these clubs in addition to Wolfsburg who have discussed a transfer with the club. Barcelona, Everton, Southampton, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester have also had the player watched.

I am going to say one possibly in January, perhaps two. The probable takeover will take up much of the Everton news in the coming weeks.}

It's a consortium not just the one guy. It could all just be smoke and mirrors to make us feel happy over Christmas then it falls through in January.

{Ed002's Note - These comments are why it is best to avoid discussion about finances. I have previously explained that there is serious interest from the United States. If the Everton fans don't want anything to change, why not get some hate campaign together to drive interest away - absolutely hopeless.

23 Dec 2015 07:49:38
As mentioned it's not just one guy it's a consortium and their combined wealth. What is not clear to me is if it's a takeover or merely an investment as there is quite a difference in the two.
Either would be a welcome boost just makes me wary as they have 6 weeks exclusivity which by my calculation takes us through until the end of the transfer window!

Ed002 - little harsh that comment. I Think we all want what's best for Everton and new investment is going to push us on but we also need to be careful as lots of clubs have got investment from people with around ' '490 mil' for example and they have failed. Think villa, the first yanks at Liverpool, short at Sunderland, etc.
We do need a new stadium and financial security and I for one will be happy if we had money to invest in the team without going into debt. as I said before just have to wait now.

If I was them and reading all of this nonsense from the fans, I would walk away - not worth the grief. And in a way I hope that they do - I do' know if it is a city based thing or a north of England based thing, but it is hard to see anything positive in this at all for the prospective owners.}
