Everton have tonight reportedly pulled out of the race to sign goalkeeper Joe Hart. efc deemed his £7million a year wages as too high and with the excellent form of Stekelberg thus far, Hart is no longer on Koemans wishlist. Other reports from France tonight indicate that Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal has informed Everton of his desire to stay in France as he wants to be playing regular European football - so won't be joking Everton either. not a particularly good day on the transfer front then, but hopefully some good news soon elsewhere.

I think the £7million was just the loan fee Soli, which if true is a huge fee just t loan a player. Not surprised that got knocked back.

Joe Hart's situation will change dramatically the closer we get to the 1st Sept, would not be surprised if he came in the last minutes of the window.

His reported wages are £135k so that is £7m a year plus whatever loan fee
I agree Murf Hart's situation will change if he doesn't get a move and a move to a club which keeps him near the top, he won't want this to cost him his England number 1 jersey!

The 7m included what he is paid per week, 135k apparently, Toffee ace. Bit steep for a year, wouldn't be worth loaning if we still had to pay around 20m to sign permanently. Not too sure this is dead in the water just yet though, doesn't seem to be many offers on the table if the press are to be believed. As Murf says, this will possibly drag on until the window is closed.

That is too much for a goal keeper especially for one who is not wanted at his club. Its reported he is on £120k per week and his contract expires 2018-2019 season. Not a bad wage for getting splinters.

My feeling is it's a tactic by city to make sure any transfer is a permanent one rather than a loan I think they know they are asking way too much, It's the same as we did with Lukaku slap 75 mil asking price hoping no one wants to pay it and we get what we want, we keep Lukaku. City are probably hoping we come back with a purchase offer instead of a loan offer.

It's even better if Everton go for Butland, then Stoke go for Hart.

{Ed002's Note - Not going to happen.}

Telegraph reporting that we are looking at lucas perez from deportivo. Good player and can play alongside lak or on his own. get it done ronny.

{Ed025's Note - i like the look of him fanatic but its just speculation at the moment mate..

True eds but itd be a good signing. Him or slimani would be great.

{Ed002's Note - This season has been a peak in an otherwise pretty average journeyman career. I suspect the English sides will see sense.}

Only thing is his last name is Martinez can see the headlines now Martinez back at Everton!

I trust Walsh if he sees something in this lad then I'm happy with that.

Ghezzal turned us down in lieu of a new contract at Lyon. Good luck to him.

Darren gibson linked with a move to hull and jimmy mc linked with celtic. If both went that leave, idrissa, Barry, davies, cleverley, besic (onjured) and maybe ross.
Personally I don't rate, clev, besic is gone for while and Davies is not the finished article yet. does anybody else think that if jimmy and gibson go we could be a little light in centre mids?

Perhaps, but SW might unearth someone more suited to RK's requirements :-)

RK and SW may already have irons in the fire and want to recoup a bit of cash.

Hope so sid. My worry is that either gueye or barry gets hurt and we're then down to the bones. Don't get me wrong I know we've got good prospects coming through and I can see williams and Davies as our future but there not ready yet. Any way in ronny and walsh we trust.

James MC to Celtic? We would end up paying most of his wages wouldn't we? I'd be surprised . He's a decent back up at worst.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 17:51:49
Cant see Gibbo getting much game time this season, but as a back up player he is experienced perhaps RK will keep him with that in mind, let's face it how much would it cost to replace him?
I can see McCarthy sliding down the squad order should we bring more in, but he is a good player and Barry is probably in his last season.

Tallaught I read celtic are looking at him and also Moyes is keen that he is included in any deal for kone. which is a possibility.
As sid said hopefully walsh will find us a gem.

Kone deal sounds more acceptable for me. Tuff to arrange a player swap in reality.

Sorry but I think it's a great move if we get rid of Gibson. I will take him to hull. Absolute drain on the club.

Brendan Galloway to WBA, not sure if permanent or on loan, really surprised.

Season loan. good for him to get experience in my opinion. We got baines, oviedo and garbutt (i think)

Season-long loan. Don't be surprised - see it as an excellent development opportunity for the player and for us in the longer-term.

22 Aug 2016 13:51:43
Garbutt has gone on loan too. Leaves us with an ageing lb (although I still rate baines) and an injury prone lb. Bit strange for both to go, unless we have recall clauses.

22 Aug 2016 14:04:08
We will have other options if bainesy and oviedo injured. We seem to be playing 3 at back with wing backs so lennon could cover or one of the other kids. I'm not worried. Rk and sw know what they are doing (hopefully)

At least when he returns he will be an expert in wasting time.

Think this is a brilliant move by RK. Ideal club to send a young defender too. Pulls will teach him how to defend, and we will get a player back ready to step straight in to the first team in time for next season.
