This doesn't sound too good .South American football expert Tim Vickery on BBC Radio 5 live: "It seems to me that Roberto Martinez has a blind spot when it comes to bringing players straight in from South America.

"He dropped an almighty brick with Mauro Boselli at Wigan. He was their record signing, and I don't think he scored a Premier League goal for them. I had a Premier League manager get in contact with me and say: 'Should I buy this player?' There were agents touting him around. I said: 'Don't go anywhere near him. He can't do it in the Premier League and he won't.' Martinez, for all his wisdom and experience, didn't see that.

"You'd have thought, after an experience like that, he'd have been scarred for life, but he's gone back twice. He's brought in Leandro Rodriguez from River Plate in Montevideo, and said that he's played lots of games in a really competitive league. Well if he thinks the Uruguayan league is competitive, he's living in cloud cuckoo land."

{Ed025's Note - an expert of spouting bollocks..

01 Sep 2015 21:35:53
Henry and 3 journalists have said he has great potential. Vickery said Paulinho will be a massive hit in the premiership so wouldn't listen to what he says.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:00:42
I haven't known Vickery to be right very often. As for the Uraguayan league, well, its a national league that produces top players. I'm not saying we've got one of them, but, you never know he may turnout to be a revelation.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:45:14
You don't get called up for Argentina yes the same 1 who was in the world up final, get a cap an then be that bad that you get called up again for there next to game an be poor

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 23:14:53
Give the lad a chance. Yes its a gamble but he's an argantinian international he must have something about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 00:34:49
Franco Di Santo was an Argentine International to be fair.

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Sep 2015 00:35:59
Every signing is a gamble when not played in prem it's a unique league di Maria a world class player, not one pundit would of predicted he would last less than 12 months lost £15m on him as well, that's why I will always say about Messi although best player in the world he would not score half the goals in prem every game is so different, these players have obviously been scouted, and paid very low prices on today's market unlike on the decline for last 2 years Everton pays 36m for a player there own captain does not even know who he is. Transfer deadline is getting ridiculously stupid and laughable at same time players tweeting they'll never play for them again, do me a favour get on and play, remember one thing fans pay your wages, you our playing for them and the club, shows how mature and classy stones is and weather you like it or not are club is classy sure we want better but we are professional and deal with things the right way well done kenwright, Martinez and the way you manage your staff, we have made big statement this summer and brought football back to reality nice to see player power does not always get you what you want, money can't buy you stones

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it metz..

02 Sep 2015 03:08:47
For the price that has been paid, i'm sure there were safer option (like the guy from celtic) but he may turn out to be a world beater, the very least he deserves is the benifit of the doubt inc, a reasonable time to settle in before people start giving him stick.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 08:28:51
Everyone is raving about Van Dijk but let's be honest he was at Celtic and that's a 1 team league. No offence to any of our Scottish fans but the SPL isn't very competitive. And in the games I've watched him in in Europe looks a bit dodgy. His marking was anonymous against Malmo and he's known to be rash and a hot head

Agree5 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 17:31:46
Franco di Santo is also starting for Schalke now in the Bundesliga. He has improved drastically since he left Wigan.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:42:52
I know we are not a selling club proved that by knocking back bids for Stones, Coleman and Naismith. But how will we feel if the club knock back a bid from Celtic for McGeady? Just having a laugh lads to cheer myself up.😜😜

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it cheered me up mate..

01 Sep 2015 20:28:24
Oviedo is injured again, you cannot be serious.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 21:20:21
I said before and I will say again Oviedo is never going to be available for long periods his legs our shot to pieces Paul McGraths legs are in better condition than his, I feel for the lad cause he has worked his socks off to make it back but this is what his career will be like now, life is cruel but for Everton and him we should of loaned him out for season just so he can get a good run of games if poss let's face it he is 3rd choice left back at mo and garbutt out on loan

Agree0 Disagree2

01 Sep 2015 21:51:01
Just read a comment by Oviedo saying he feels great and is looking forward to playing against Chelski. Oh and Trueblue, he's better than Garbutt.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:22:11
You having a laugh sorry garbutt was sent out on loan just so we would not loose him for me if Baines needed replacing and everyone is fit fans would want garbutt playing, Oviedo got the run around against Barnsley regardless of have not played much it was basic defending everytime he was the reason why Barnsley gave us a fright, I'm not saying he is rubbish but not good enough at this level

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 23:15:32
The lad Oviedo has just played two full games one with extra time. I'm sure the club don't want him flying to Central America and back and it's probably a precaution.
Think he's still got much to offer us.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 17:30:19
if true then its a good thing we bought mori as he can play left back also :)

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:00:24
Lennon has just signed a 3 year deal. I'm currently sat on the crapper hillucinating with uncontrollable excitement! ;)

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 20:22:53
So u don't like
Lennon then? Thought he was probably our best performer towards the end of last season

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:27:17
Thank god we did not sign renaldo.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - or even ronaldo!...there would be crap all over the celing!.. :)

01 Sep 2015 20:47:19
No pleasing some people.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:54:19
. I do Kingy & I think he's a good signing, but if you speak to Spurs fans they'll tell you he always started every season really well & then faded out by Christmas, I just hope he is consistent - I'll certainly give him his chance as I quite like the lad - certainly a lot better than McGready who should of been shipped out back to Russia by now imo. but we really should of added a creative spark for that no.10 role & when you get the gaffer almost promising it during every interview in the run up to deadline day it's very very disappointing.but hey ho, we have a strong squad imo & I think we'll be back in for Yarmalenko in January!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:01:28
Time for my turn to be negative now ha ha I think the yarmolenko ship has sailed unfortunately but back onto
Lennon I do know and speak regularly to a lot of Spurs fans and they all say the lad gives 100 percent in every game and if the opposition play a high line he can rip them to shreds

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 00:45:47
If Kiev fail in the champs league, I reckon he will be here in January, and a lot cheaper as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 08:11:36
There will be a bidding war mark my words and the players wages will get out of hand

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think your right kingy..

01 Sep 2015 19:22:12
Ed do you think we will go back in for Yarmolonko in January seen we didn't get the number 10 we were looking for?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - hopefully stef mate..

01 Sep 2015 19:59:56
Only risk is that Champions League clubs might want to add to their squads in January - although not sure if he'd be cup-tied with Kiev.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 23:18:05
He would be cup tied so most European clubs won't be looking at him until next summer although I think as he would only have 6 months left he could sign a pre-contract

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:57:36
Berbatov on a free

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not even if he payed us..

01 Sep 2015 19:53:15
Mcgeady should have been sold for whatever just to get him off the strike and Naismith I love him and his work rate but he is never going to take us forward . For that money If true I would have let him go and brought in Defoe on the cheap at least until we could identify the number 10 with the potential to be a great

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2015 19:51:01
What - sign Berbatov? Two chances of that: slim and none - and Slim just left town.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 23:35:21
Why would we just get rid of Naismith to sign Defoe. Hardly an upgrade, his best years are behind him.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:54:58
Sunderland came in for megeady and we said no. that's shocking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we dont sell our best players.. :(

01 Sep 2015 19:12:45
Ye I forgot about that sorry edd

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 19:33:57
Fail to see the point in that if true to be honest. Get his 50k a week of the books and all his debts to McDonalds he shares with Anderson, Grant Holt and Wayne Rooney.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 19:52:41
Just because there's speculation in the media about "interest" in a player, that doesn't mean that there was ever any serious bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:30:50
Well if folk didn't post rumours on what they've heard or read Cowpat if would be a very boring rumour site.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 21:30:32
Would have cost a fortune to rent a flatbed to take him there dazer :)

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:01:00
lancerboy: of course it's a rumour site - and anyone can post what they've heard or read - but I stand by my assertion that "interest" doesn't mean that a serious bid has been made.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:40:39
Thierry Henry just stated we have done a great deal with getting Mori, he said he is a great player, that will do for me

Believable2 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2015 19:51:43
I think people our concerned with his lack of pace but to be honest most of the top defenders never had pace if he reads the game well he will be a success. But yea if Henry said he's good that will do for me, as I think he was the best player to grace the prem some will argue but he was the royals Royce of players

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:23:49
I don't think he is Alcaraz level of slow, just not Distin level of speed. He will cope.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:51:25
So everyone's happy.
All well in the world eh?

So y'all. what are your expectations of EFC?
MID TABLE Mediocrity?
A cup every ten years?
The hope of a decent Europa cup run to the detriment of league placing?

I know what I want. Do you?

The thing is.How do we get there?

Keep out taking loans signed by MW dealerships in Sligo?

Ever been HAD?

I was listening to 5live about 8pm an they were saying that mori is piss pure. Saying he's less than ok. Don't know who it was talking at the time like but he den fancy mori at all

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2015 00:50:23
Be Jose, still smarting from the two finger salute to trying bully tactics to sign Stones, posing as a fan saying he's piss poor.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:52:03
We ant even getting lennen!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

01 Sep 2015 18:35:27
Are you surprised? Keeping stones was our marque signing

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:47:36
Apparently the paperwork was submitted in time so wait and see.

Would have loved Yarmolenko, but don't actually reckon it's as bad as people are making out.

We've kept Stones, Naismith and Coleman after receiving apparently quite sizeable bids. Bids which in the past we'd have jumped at.

We've signed Cleverley who's pleasantly surprised me (before getting injured) plus Deulofeu and two South Americans who nobody can really judge because we don't know much about them.

Plus Barkley has linked up with Lukaku well playing in a number 10 role and I reckon Kone has looked a real threat. Give them a few more games to settle and we'll get more consistency and more performances like Southampton away.

Other teams now have to bed in half a dozen players five games into the season after an international break.

Agree4 Disagree5

01 Sep 2015 19:18:56
Naismith. And Kone has looked a threat. Can I ask when. Hhhmmmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 19:54:48
Oh ye of little faith! It's just been confirmed that Aaron Lennon has signed a three year deal for a fee of around four or four and a half million pounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 20:09:46
Bitter John - I think he's probably put in more crosses that have landed than anyone else, plus he's at least looked like he wants it in every game I've seen him in this season. Naismith won't set the world in fire but he gets goals and works his arse off.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 21:37:18
Bitter John, Have you watched any games yet? All last season I slagged Kone, but so far this season he's proving me wrong.
He's putting a shift in and showing a good degree of competence. As for Naismith, he gets among the opposition and riles them, draws fouls, and gets us possession back. And that my friend has happened every game so far this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:07:53
Agreed Mike. I've slated Kone since he was at Wigan then was gutted when RM signed him. He was then injured for months and I thought he was just taking the piss. Since he got fit in preseason I've thought he looks intelligent and willing plus he isn't greedy. I'd put money on him providing more goals - assists and scoring combined - than anyone else in our team this season if he stays fit.

The only way we could've bought big this window would've been to sell Stones or Coleman, and who would've been willing to come to us in either position of the same quality?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 22:13:45
i can't beleave those of you who are getting at naysmith ,spurs were starting to get on top last sat until naysmith came on and got in their faces and caused them to commit fouls and got some of them booked I think if he had not come on we would have lost that game he is everton through and through and not a bad player to boot

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well you dont have to convince me jackdaw mate..

01 Sep 2015 22:36:44
Naismith is one of our most consistent performers mate, so totally agree with you. Great with the fans and community, never moans about not starting and gets goals. Plus he winds defenders up like mad.

Like a shorter, blonder version of Big Dunc. just with far less cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:51:03
Just seen riquelme jump out of a bright yellow ford Sierra estate outside the black horse pub on county road because there is a traffic jam and he legged it towards Goodson. Make of this what you will but he seemed to be in a hurry

01 Sep 2015 16:57:08
on sky we turned down 8 million for naismith we must be mad he not worth £8

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - lets see what we pay for lennon first woodsy..

01 Sep 2015 17:24:32
Naismith is a good player, he works hard and causes loads of trouble for the opposition defence, and he's one of the few players we have in the squad who can score goals. I wouldn't want to lose him.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you tommy..

01 Sep 2015 17:43:42
We shouldn't be looking to move SN on at all. He is a vital squad member who chips in with a few goals. Unless we are offered silly money, say 20m (which is totally unrealistic I know), then he has a part to play for us this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:54:22
also gives the ball away 9 times out of ten because he can't pass to save his life

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:04:39
I love Naismith but 20m come on mate I doubt even 8 was offered just made my day better after this tosh of deadline day haha

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2015 18:27:35
Mike, as I said it was an unrealistic valuation not one I expect to receive. The point was only a stupid bid should make us even consider letting him leave. Read it again and you will see what I was getting at

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 18:39:16
Naismith grafts his bollox off for our club on and off the field,,he is just wot our squad needs. gutted we did not get any more like him!!

Lennon deal all but agreed. Evrrton have left mori and lennon untill the last day to make it look like a successful day. i'm sorry but they've failed miserably once again. Weve needed a creative midfielder all summer deep down we all knew it was never going to happen.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Sep 2015 17:37:45
Did we.

I think the majority of fans haven't a clue or don't want to know what is really going on.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:42:39
Lennon close but a pretty poor window from the blues 1 hour left to do something though number 10 looks very unlikely.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2015 17:33:14
What do you expect?

It was identified that we needed a Creative player.
We still do and have cried out for one for a number of years now.

We offered to pay Kiev 14.5m.

Wouldn't you think a number of players would have been identified?

Is the answer that there is NO money.

All the info is out there its up to you all to look for yourself and make your own mind up and look beyond the propaganda of the club and newspapers.

As Johnnie Rotten said
"Ever had the feeling you've been HAD"?

As I said some days ago. The truth will out.

I'm sick of ecerton , other clubs buying people all over the shop we are meanwhile trying our best for Lennon .

I'd love lamela come in

Believable2 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2015 18:53:09

01 Sep 2015 16:34:02
I still think we gona bring 1 or 2 in before the deadline although I can't see a marquee signing at this point (I'm hopefully wrong on this). So Lennon seems to be the most likely, be happy to have him I the squad but can't help feel let down so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:58:48
. Here's a forward thinking thought for our Jurassic board of directors. why didn't they just buy Yarmalenko from Dinamo & then just loan him back until they get knocked out of the champions league. then he would be ours for keeps stopping any other club from getting him in another window.Surkis himself said he was happy with our monetary offer & all the details. so how about?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

01 Sep 2015 16:07:42

Spooky as I thought the same when reading the report

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Sep 2015 16:31:05
Would have to loan him back for the full season. Could only loan him til January or to July, but the CL groups will still be on in January? Correct me if I'm wrong - so we'd be paying 14.5mil for a player who can't play for us for a year who we could sign for free in a year. I agree with use sign the lad up now even if we do wait 12 months, but the board will see it as they can have a bargain next season, just for him to go to Stoke or West Ham United because they will offer him 90k a week and we will come in with £35k a week and a free half season ticket for his whole family

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:45:41

it stated somewhere on line yday, we can still sign from abroad, even though their window is shut, they just can't take players there with their window shut,, not too sure if its true, think it was on a sky site

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:48:24
Although the Spanish window is closed Ed, I think we can still buy/loan players from teams in that league. It's just that they can't buy players as their window closed yesterday. I'm sure someone (could have been ed002) posted something similar the other day

01 Sep 2015 14:46:47
lets face it mori is going to be are only signing today don't think levy will let lennon go for less than 9 mil as for the number 10 we left it to late to try to make a big sigining

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2015 15:04:04
Fully agree duke. Looks like we were never after a number 10 and if we were Martinez left with egg on his face

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:55:27
We would have got a number 10 if the people at Kiev hadn't been so hard to deal with. Other clubs have, funnily enough, also experienced brick walls when negotiating with these clowns. Blame the club/manager as much as you like but to suggest we were never in for a player in this position is a bit daft.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 14:45:07
Ed do you agree that there will be no number 10. Lennon will be our last piece of business. Another let down. And what the club will say is our best piece of business will be keeping stones. Another shambles of a transfer window. I'm sick and tired of hearing about how many Bournemouth and Watford are signing.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i hope not john, im not revealing my stance until after 6pm..

01 Sep 2015 15:35:14
Don't think we need to concern ourselves with how many the new teams are getting. They're trying to build new teams to keep em up and we just need to strengthen a few areas - calm down!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:29:34
I agree we have a good team just need to improve the depth

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 14:36:09
"It is being suggested that the reason Ramiro Funes Mori's price increased from £6.25m to £9.5m was because his River Plate contract entitled him to 50% of any transfer fee and, rather than risk the deal collapsing, Everton decided to pay the extra £3.25m with no central defensive alternatives lined up at this late stage in the window. Also claimed Everton only became aware of Funes Mori's entitlement late last week. Everton have not confirmed or denied the allegation." - Andy Hunter, The Guardian.

We are an utter shambles.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2015 15:23:24
Key term there is "being suggested." It would be nice if people stopped slagging the club off and waving their pitchforks every transfer window if we don't sign more players than someone else. Signing too many players does not promote stability, as clearly demonstrated by spurs, liverpool and man city last season.

Whispers that there's a deal to take McGeady from Everton to Sunderland before 18:00 - were not willing to sell until Lennon has signed though. Lennon in and McGeady out is just as good as 2 new signings!

I had to make short my self inflicted exile to report some disturbing news.

I emailed the Director of communication for Everton Football Club. My email was essentially a rant at how the club treat us fans with contempt in terms of their communication and to step it up.

The disturbing thing is the man responsible for our communications emailed me today at 13.51

You would hope he would have more pressing things to do than write me a long email. As much as I appreciated the considered response it did suddenly dawn on me that this is a sign that I guess we won't have too much to communicate today!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I don't genuinely think that fact that he was emailing me has any bearing on anything it was just a bit of fun. Although the fact he kept responding straight away did then make me think he can't be too busy.
I did tell him to get back to work on the press release for our big deadline day signing, he replied will do.
Not holding my breath though!

I can't see us bringing in a number 10 now, not a decent one who will have a first team impact anyway. I feel a little let down by the club. Had we really gone for it we could have brought in Yarmolenko, Ayew or Payet but we dither while other get there business done. As for Lennon he did ok last year but we don't use the winger we have and if it means playing him before Delofeu then I wouldn't really want him. Really plaesd we have stood firm over stones but is that just masking our inadequacies at landing player we need that would have an impact in our first team. Let's hope something late happens, I just can't see it. COYB

9.5m for a CB, not like us to spend that on a bench player.

Im sure stones will stay and our captain won't be dropped. could this finally be the point at which Roberto uses 3 at the back? He is a know admirer and now we have 3 quality CBs in his eyes.

A quality playmaker is the vital component for me, would change our season in my opinion.

More than likely he is just a centre half we desperately needed as cover and competition.

If we would have brought in a centre half for a few mil there would of been uproar we haven't shown ambition and bring in crap. We spend a decent amount and its must be because Stones will be sold. Club can't win!
