Hi Ed, hypothetically speaking, is it possible that Roberto knows he's going at the end of the season, and that we already have a manager in place, but we are holding the news back because he is currently in a job (e. g. someone like Pellegrini or Bilic) whose current team still have something to play for until the end of the season?

I confess I know little about the business/ boardroom practices of a football club, and realistically it would be difficult to keep news under wraps in this day and age, but thought it worth an ask.

{Ed025's Note - it is possible tommy and it would be ethically correct but whether that is the case in this instance i dont know mate, in these days with the internet and social media its quite hard to keep secrets but we have had nothing tangible this end up to now..

I'd think bilic was happy were he is and Pellegrino is basically a free agent, we need a fresh approach to the team though we look stale even yesterday was poor I can't see how with the pressure from fans we will just let the unrest continue into next season something has to give it's not good and it's frustrating to even watch.

I only used those two as examples, most managers who have been linked with us already have a club, so that situation could be applicable to many candidates.

However it was a hypothetical scenario and I doubt that a) we would have been able to interview suitable candidates (unless Bill and co have been wowed by the first manager they spoke to) and b) as ed025 said above, it's unlikely in this day and age that the news could be kept under wraps.

Well, I'm just going to sit back, relax and cheer my beloved blues on from now until the end of the season and what will be will be. I'm quite sure board will announce a change of gaffer at the end of the season and Ian Doyle of the echoe has said the same thing in an article he's written today. so hoping for Pellegrini though! C. o. y. b!

Hi ed. Can you clear up if a meeting did take place on Friday. Also in your honest opinion do you think martinez will go before the end of the season or at the end of season or will they sack him at all. Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - there was a meeting on friday john as there is most fridays, what was discussed im not privvy to though, will he be sacked?..im not sure, as i have said before he still has support from some in the boardroom, at the moment my guess would be that he will be in charge at the start of next season, but that is a complete guess on my part mate..

01 May 2016 14:17:14
Suppose we can put him with him until the end of the season but I hope to God he'said gone before next season. Surely the board members who are backing him one of them won't be moshiri. Will it be up to him if he gets sacked or will it be kenwright.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - moshiri is not actually on the board john but as the major shareholder will have a big say on how the club progresses, it will be a joint decision on his future mate..

01 May 2016 18:43:46
Ed if that is the case and he is still around for the new season then we are in deep crap no matter who we bring in the summer because he still won't be able organise r defence so next season we will be battling relegation plus if I was moshiri I be very reluctant to give him any money 13.5 million for niasse doesn't inspire confidence in transfer market.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if they wanted him out duke last week was the perfect opportunity, after the debacle at anfield and losing in the semi there is nothing now to play for and the time was right for me..but what do i know?..

Hi ed002 any truth linking us with the German manager or is it just paper trash cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Joachim Loew is not out of contract in the summer as all of the Everton supporters seem to think, and in a couple of cases insist. Joachim will be available after teh world cup in 2018 and Everton has made no approach to the DFB regarding him.}

01 May 2016 15:12:24
I red in an article that he is contracted till 2018 but there is apparently a clause in his contract that he can speak to interested clubs.

That is correct and roughly translated it states he can go to a "decent club". What exactly is meant by a decent club and if Everton would be considered one is a grey area. My ex German work colleagues I speak with seem to believe he will go after the 2016 euros if Germany do not win it. My ex boss who is a true blue scouser now living in Berlin reckons he is a terrible team manager and howled with disgust when I told him the rumour lol.

An interesting point that the ed might comment on. My friend today reminded me of RMs first season. It was apparently reported that Arsenal saw RM as the perfect replacement for Wenger. If that is correct then perhaps Mr Morishi will be pleased he has got his man.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Joachim Loew and his coaching team all signed new contracts last summer - taking them through until after the World Cup. There will be no clauses that relate to him being allowed to talk to any "decent teams" in teh contract and there are no grey areas. Clearly you have now grasp about any of this at all with your initial insistance that his contract ran out this summer. Everton fans seems obsessed with contract clauses for payments made before or after June 1, Chelsea having clauses which allow them to buy Lukaku cheaply and now the German national coach having a contract with the DFB that allows him to talk to "decent teams" in the midst of the Euros and a World Cup qualifying campaign. This is all very naive and no doubt found on Twitter. Loew is far from a "terrible team manager" and I suggest your "true blue scouser" chum in Berlin is probably teasing you. If Loew were to leave after the Euros it would take a great deal more than not winning it. A couple of clubs have expressed an interest in him and that interest has been rebuffed.

As to the other question, in the 9 months leading up to the Spring of 2014 Arsenal were looking for a new manager to take them forward under a transitional shift that was due to happen. They looked to Roberto Martinez as a replacement for Arsene Wenger. With an extension signed at the time that interest went, and the transitional shift.}

A newspaper reporting that Pellegrini's turned down jobs throughout the World in hopes of staying in the Premier League.
