Can I ask any of the Eds a quick question, mix of Everton and Chelsea related.

With Courtois apparently looking to leave, Chelsea will be in the market for a keeper. How do Chelsea stand on home grown quota for this upcoming season? I ask about homegrown because if they need to meet that requirement then it makes me more nervous about a Pickford approach, 2 birds with 1 stone and all that. Whereas if they are comfortably safe in that requirement then I can rest much easier because they can probably cherry pick whoever they want.

{Ed002's Note - They are fine right now but I am aware of three that will leave. Chelsea has not made any approach for Pickford and are interested in someone else. Right now, I would not worry Worcester.}

Thank you very much Ed02.

It aroused my suspicion as my gut feeling was that was one of their prime reasons in a move for Barkley. I'm probably completely wrong but nobody really believed he was better than who they already had.

Keep Pickford here as long as we can and we have a chance of building a team that can challenge top 6.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs have to maintain a level of HG and often use number 3 keepers if they are one short.}

Ed002: Aren’t the rules for UEFA completions (Champions League and Europa League) even tougher regarding the number of HG players in that there has to be a certain number of “club-trained” players amongst the “homegrown (I. e. association-trained) ” players in registered squads?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The rules differ slightly and may be adopted or adapted by the EPL at some point. The EPL rules are a max of 25 players over 21 of which a max of 17 can be non-Home Grown). The remaining eight have to be HG (spending 3 years between 16 and 21 with an English or Welsh side, regardless of nationality). If there are not enough HG players, then the squad size reduces, so if there are only six, the squad reduces to 23. In terms of UEFA competitions, the rules vary slightly with the eight "HG". A maximum of four of those eight can be trained by other clubs in the English and Welsh association. The remaining have to be club trained. So If Arsenal were to recruit John Terry, he would fall in to the category of being association trained (by Chelsea) rather than club trained. Again, if there are not sufficient club trained players the squad size is reduced.}
