Just been reading Everton have now withdrawn their compensation offer to Watford, interesting hmmmm.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

18 May 2018 20:43:13
Is this a new offer or the old offer from January?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 May 2018 20:46:28
They were offered ample compensation, they refused. They sacked him. If there was a case to answer it would have been answered in Feb not now. Cheap attempt by Watford to extort money over their own mismanagement.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 May 2018 20:55:04
My take on this it was for £1 mill which was rejected by Watford, but Everton have now withdrawn that offer because Watford apparently tapped up Marco while at Hull and have a document to prove it.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 May 2018 21:59:18
according to the Times we have proof that Watford tapped Silva up while he was the Hull Manager I wonder how we got that piece of evidence.

BLUEY79: I wonder - nudge, nudge - wink, wink.
If Watford want to play hardball, I’m sure we have people who can mix it with them!

19 May 2018 11:37:55
I'm at a loss why we should pay them anything anyway they had their chance and rejected our offers so that should be the end of it.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 May 2018 12:57:10
I'm sure we will sort something out and Silva will be announced maybe next week get him onboard and we can start to plan for next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 May 2018 19:08:56
All of this is irrelevant. Watford sacked the guy it is as simple as that. His 30 percent win record is the reason. All they are trying to do now is cite Everton for his failure. Absolutely ridiculous. If anyone tried that with you, me and any organisation or person of nounce they would fail. Incidentally if Evertons so-called involvement affected Silva, he is not the man for us.

19 May 2018 22:02:06
Everton made an approach for silva which wad rejected by silva but we still have to pay comoensation after he was sacked? Yet moyes admitted he was approached by alex ferguson directlyly who said he wanted moyes as his replacement and yet we don't get compensation. I know moyes let his contract wind down but surely i must be missing something here? We made an offer which was rejected. Our manager was argubly tapped up yet and yet we are offering compensation?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2018 16:21:18
I don’t think Silva was actually sacked as such, I’ve read a few times on here that he was replaced but he’s still on the books and collecting his monthly wages.

So I’m guessing that’s why they want compo and why there is some confusion about why we should/ shouldn’t not pay it.

Are these Usmanov rumours drivel, regurgitated paper talk and recycled rumours or may there be some substance to it?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

18 May 2018 18:53:32
Could be. There’ll be a lot of s*** over the next few weeks with no footy to report on. And with no manager and cash to burn we’ll be all over the rumour mill.

Is anyone else a bit relieved we didn't finish 7th? I know we would have had a European place but I think our season would have suffered again with the July start and all the newly discovered optimism would have evaporated before the season really began.
I'm actually really looking forward to next season now, there was a moment when I did regret renewing my season ticket and was not looking forward to the 180 mile round trip to watch the drivel we have seen this year. COYB!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

18 May 2018 17:08:19
Seems weird to say it. But yes ToffeeAl. Also getting into Europe would probably mean Allerdyce would be staying. The team isn't his apart from 2 and they've performed better than most. All things considered that's not actually hard to out perform the rest of the team. Tosun yoy can't really moan at because he didn't get the support.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 May 2018 21:15:57
Relieved we did not finish higher, of course not. I support Everton Football Club and wish them to do the best they can every season. Forgive me but by saying relieved we did not finish 7th is surely akin to saying we have no ambition to conquer the top six and finish consistently in the top 4.

18 May 2018 22:25:56
Totally agree TL, said this last year Watch Burnley struggle next season because like us not a strong enough squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2018 08:32:22
Spot on TA we struggled last year and the second year under RM. Europa league is a joke of a competition if you have to start mid July and don't have a massive squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2018 10:19:09
I’d love to finish higher, BUT missing out on the UEL next season might be a blessing in disguise while the club settles into its new structure.

I see usmanov rumours starting again. There must be something in this as it’s always raising its head. No smoke without fire. We have over £100m to spend with our new Brand.
I think then our new coach whoever it is can concentrate on coaching.

No hard evidence yet, just speculation.

It's Silva. Brands has been "stated" as saying that's who he wants too. Couple of weeks he'll be announced. So I wouldn't keep wondering who it might be. It's Silva.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

18 May 2018 08:20:55
It's good that both owner and dof want the same person as manager. Hopefully a united front all working together to make the club great again.

To the people who Thumbsed down. Are you saying in talking rubbish or disagreeing with the fact that he's coming.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 May 2018 12:14:21
Not sure why it would take a couple of weeks. Silva has been out of work and the club must have known Sam was leaving. Let's get it done and the team working on recruitment.

18 May 2018 15:52:06
Probably the compo with Watford holding it up.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 May 2018 17:18:01
The club courted Brands for two years it would be naive to think that a conversation to that end had not happened months ago about which manager he wanted obvs behind closed doors🙄
Big C.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 May 2018 20:34:40
Is this the same people who stated Brands wouldn't be done for 3 weeks?
Don't take it personally but I think a manager will be appointed much quicker.

I'd assume there was a major problem if it took 3 weeks to appoint a coach who is out of work and available. Perhaps with today being quiet, the new boss isn't as clear as we think?

Maybe a few more applicants are yet to have a meeting with the the club? Makes more sense than the club knowing who they want but having to wait 3 weeks to announce.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2018 23:55:43
OllBlue. That's exactly why it could take a couple of weeks. Watford have complained to the F.A. About tapping. What makes matters worse. Kenwright "supposedly" told Watford that we wouldn't persue Silva in the summer. It's been a week since the prem season ended and we already made contact. Upset Watford even more. They going all out to reap massive compensation. With the sacking of Allerdyce and his staff, keeping Watford sweet. It's going to cost in excess of 30 million to get Silva on the books. So be better be good lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 May 2018 07:31:04
I've read an article a couple of days ago saying Brands is all for Silva. So it looks like it's Silva. Moshiri isn't shy. Silva will be announced in a couple if weeks it says.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - that works for me mowfee mate..

18 May 2018 07:41:08
I think people don't like the fact he tried to jump ship and join us only after 11 games at Watford. I think people are worried he'll do exactly the same to us. His "supposed" track record says he only stays at a club for a year. That's the other factor I think people fear.

I imagine that the managerial situation is complicated - and various events have needed to be completed in a certain order (e. g. getting the other changes - DoF, CEO, etc., - sorted, resolving the Watford compensation, etc. ) , BUT I hope that wheels are already in motion behind the scenes regarding player retention, recruitment and release.
Notwithstanding what the new DoF/ Manager might decide once they've had a look at the players during pre-season - or what opportunities to trade may arise late on in the window - I’d hope that most of our transfers are done and dusted nice and early.

Agree3 Disagree1

18 May 2018 11:41:36
I’m ok with Silva he will need the time and support for him and brands to adapt the team he is one of the 3 I would say possible
Silva is the more likely
Emery would be the reach but still possible
And Rafa would be the experienced seasoned manager.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 May 2018 20:12:57
bobbyc I respect your post mate but I also fail to see what legal grounds Watford are working on. They sacked Silva with the bloke having a 30 percent win record, that is down to him and his staff not Everton. Bloke crashes his car because you told him to turn left, didn't he see the 'no entry' sign, he was driving.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2018 22:27:07
ducksflysouth: I don’t know - I’m just speculating, but there are reports that Watford have officially complained about Everton’s behaviour and Everton want this resolved amicably before signing up Marco Silva - PLUS he wants his compensation package for being sacked settled with Watford.

18 May 2018 00:48:47
I am not sure who I would want to get the new managers role but with Fonseca being out my shortlist would be:
1 Emery
2 Benitez
3 Silva.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

18 May 2018 06:59:11
that's my order as well although I will back whoever comes in our club needs backing and stability.

Emery for me but I have a feeling it's Silva.

We, the fans, have our own favourites for the Everton manager’s job.
Our opinions are valid and honestly held, but are based on limited information.
Objective statistics - like win percentage, trophies won, etc. - are obviously important, but they offer no guarantee that such success would be repeated at Everton. Whoever is appointed, there is a risk.
There are other aspects imho (many being behind-the-scenes) of being a football manager - man-management, player development, motivational skills, recruitment, relationship with club hierarchy, media relationship, personal ambition, etc., etc. - that we don’t necessarily have much knowledge of as fans.
I just hope that the club are genuinely sussing-out these factors as they interview the candidates and that the club makes its hiring decision based on a rational long-term plan and not merely some romantic short-term wishful thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2018 10:18:33
Good post. But I don't think we actually are interviewing candidates by the sounds of things which tells me silva is already done and dusted. Once this legal noncence is sorted he will be announced.

My choice never gets mentioned here or on radio/ television in the betting so I expect some abuse here but here goes.
Gary Rowett, I also like the Huddersfield manager even if he if friends with Klopp.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have to say dark clouds that i think you deserve loads of abuse for the gary rowett shout mate, but i think david wagner is a decent shout..

18 May 2018 18:17:43
Tbh ed I think Gary rowett is going to be a good manager, was unlucky to be sacked by Birmingham but think it's way too soon for us. He is also an ex player of ours (only 4 games if my old brain remembers correctly) so surprised he hasn't been mentioned more. I do think Silva is nailed on tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me too geoff, gary rowett may indeed become a good manager but at this time i would not be happy with him as our manager mate..

18 May 2018 20:16:44
Wagner is a cracking shout. Seems to me though that the man has totally bought into Huddersfield and appears to be a genuinely loyal person. Have to admit, even though I have criticised him, Martinez totally bought into Everton and left with dignity. If only he had addressed the build foundations from the bottom strategy we would not be in the position we are now.
