. Rory Smith of the Times has tonight reported that the Sevilla boss Emery would be willing to talk to Everton about the vacant managers job.

Has previously stated that he wants to work in the Premiership too.

Amazing. Better even than Favre. Tactically brilliant, develops youth - Juan Mata, Jordi Alba, Ever Banega. Won 3 Europas on the trot, best of all last night. Didn't think he'd be interested because they play champs league every season, but if he is, he'd be straight in as favourite for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 May 2016 05:51:01
After last night I'd have him in a heartbeat. Might even go as far as to say even more so than the special one (even though that's not happening)

Loved the way they turned it around last night. Excellent mentality.

19 May 2016 08:35:09
Sevilla have not won a single game at away from home in the league this season and have finished 7th. Great result last night and even better winning it for the 3rd time, ;but I wouldn't get carried away with him.

Agree4 Disagree0

19 May 2016 15:57:52
The guy has got Valencia and Sevilla into the Champs League in 6 out of 7 seasons he's spent with those clubs in a league with richer clubs than both and in circumstances where the finances and structure of the clubs were shot when he took over. At Valencia, he finished only behind Real and Barcelona 3 seasons out of 4. Pep apart, there is no manager in the world who hasn't had a disappointing season. If 7th and winning the Europa for a third season running isn't good enough, then you won't be happy with anyone. Pep's gone, man.

If its true big Joe to be Director of Football, makes me think they may have agreed this with a manager they want.

How cool would that be?

Apparently, the board will be looking at managers who are 'available. ' E. G. de boer, rafa etc. They are not looking at managers who are already under contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2016 06:38:24
Well that doesn't make sense as FDB is still actually contracted to Ajax for another year from what I understand.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2016 12:18:48
All i know is that the club are looking at managers who are available. I thought de boer was tbh, apologies.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2016 16:17:57
FDB is interested but still has time on his contract so probably an easier discussion with Ajax than trying to get Koeman for example
That's my understanding.

Lukaku wants champions league football again and will be soled by the euros well that takes Chelsea and United out then 65 mill what do you think Ed.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - he had a fine season AB but that price seems very inflated to me, PSG look like the only contenders at that price mate..

18 May 2016 22:07:21
He won't be going to Liverpool either hahaha.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2016 09:56:51
If he wants Champs league then his clubs are very limited PSG Real and some of the eastern european clubs if he takes a pay cut, may be his only options. Stick a decent price tag on him and that narrows it down to two clubs of which PSG looks to be the only viable option as I can't see him fighting it out against Benzema for the stiker role.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - benzema could be playing for the spanish prison team by next year sa, but i know what you mean mate..

Look on YouTube at the football Borussia Moenchengladbach played under this guy and then come back on here and say you don't want him.

Plays nice football and brings in youth really well, but nah, viva Moyes!

Agree3 Disagree1

18 May 2016 20:21:52
I don't want him we have a new chairman worth over a billion why settle for 2nd or 3rd best we just had a guy who wanted to play nice football and look where that got us we need someone who can mix it up not just have plan A we need a man who has won things not just a cup lots of cups a winner someone who knows how to win .

Agree0 Disagree2

18 May 2016 20:46:01
He transformed Monchengladbach from a relegation side to a Champions League club. Mixes things up. Plays 4-4-2. I'd take him.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 May 2016 22:05:08
Personally i don't care whos manager. Wether it be a world class manager or someone that's relatively unkown.

As long as he gets us winning and playing a balanced game ill be happy. Plus i'd prefer a manager that brings youth through. I don't want to be the next club that tries to buy success.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 May 2016 22:45:03
The way he sets his teams up make Pulis look adventurous.
He may get a few good results but he ground would be half empty through boredom by xmas.

konehead, eight other teams in the prem have major shareholders worth over a billion. Plus others in Europe. It is irrelevant to the revenue if the club. Their money is not the club's money. We are not even in the current top 20 richest clubs in the world by value, although we are at number 18 by revenue. We might rise up those lists with new investment, but we won't be anywhere near the top ten anytime soon. For perspective: the top club, Real's value is nearly 10 times that of the 20th club. This is why Jose will go to utd - their yearly revenue is €520m, ours is €165m. Let's say Moshiri invests £100m (€130m) and let's ignore the minimum €200m we need to spend on a stadium. Let's also ignore any potential investment other billionaire shareholders may make in their clubs. We're still nowhere near. "Let's splash the cash, we should break the bank to get Jose. " We're not there yet, even if we felt he was the right fit for us, which is debatable. It's going to get better but it takes time. Managers are judged in a season or two and we will be competing against far richer clubs for the next season or two. We want a manager who can do exactly that - compete against richer clubs - while developing our excellent youngsters, many of whom will either improve our team, boost our revenue if we sell them, or both. Emery, Favre, De Boer are all excellent candidates, in that order for me. Emery and Favre have over-achieved with their clubs - taken them to the champions league against richer clubs. All of them have intensity, intelligence, tactical nous, integrity and a record of making players better. Emery would be a coup, do not doubt it - the guy is a world class manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - a large proportion of Madrid's revenue comes from playing in the Champions League. Everton would immediately go way over 200m just simply by qualifying. Getting into the Europa League, even, increases revenue markedly and has long term effects on fanbase, as European football brings in more fans.}

19 May 2016 10:00:35
That's true, ed. But to qualify, we'd need to finish above not one, but 3 of the following 6 clubs, all of whom are still significantly richer than us: Arsenal, Spurs, City, Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool. All multi-billionaire owners; all will have world class managers next season, all of whom don't have to spend as much as we do on their stadium. I'm ignoring Leicester, West Ham and Southampton. I'm not saying we can't do it; I'm just saying there's no great likelihood of it happening in the next year or two unless you know of factors the rest of us don't?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was just pointing out that there are other factors at play than just current revenue. For starters it will go up due to the TV deal. Even the smallest English Prem clubs can compete with the likes of Barca and Real Madrid financially from next season.}

19 May 2016 16:11:02
But those six clubs we have to leapfrog also get the tv money - more of it than we do, in fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - true.}

18 May 2016 12:00:45
. so this morning the press are reporting on Lucien Favre as next efc boss. lol, it does make me laugh how the silence of from the board keeps everyone guessing. nobody's got a clue who it's going to be!

to be honest ed i know nothing about him do you rate him ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he comes with a very good reputation paul and his teams play attractive football so whats not to like mate..

18 May 2016 12:59:49
that will do me ed. as for the ground ed do you think that any new ground would incorpareate the famouse zig zags as it would be like being at home again. and i hope it has proper home and away ends to give ground a bit of identity and has four corners instead of a souless bowl like the new west ham ground or arsenels.

The owners of the land where Everton could build a waterfront stadium are 'not in a position to say anything at the moment'.

statement from Peel Holdings

Im guessing that we are moving to the docks then as if not they had nothing to lose by saying so, hope this comes off.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

18 May 2016 10:56:30
The way I understand it is that Peel have loads of land that they had plans for, but as yet nothing has been started.
I would imagine that a new stadium would kick start these plans and attract other investment, something Peel might find attractive.

I like Moshiri already, early days I know but he doesn't appear to be on an ego trip, he just goes about it quietly which is a good sign I think.

No way will he go before the euros, only after at the right price.
Besides talks of new stadium and a new manager it's too much hassle. Basically Moshiri has more important things to be doing than the hassle of Lukaku. I want him to stay yes. But he isn't top priority.

Roms dad coming out and saying he will be gone before the euros for £65m. Thanks for the memories Rom and good luck werever you go. can't argue with that price as long as it is invested wisely back into the squad.

Eds do you know if what the press is reporting is correct? They are saying that we are in talks with Lucien Favre for the vacant manager's post.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - lots of names are being bandied about tommy and favre is one of them, but nothing this end on talks with him mate..

18 May 2016 08:53:58
The more I research him the more I like.

Appears to be a very good coach and manager and very tactically astute.

Hasn't achieved much in terms of winning things but he has achieved a lot in terms of taking a down in the dumps team to a team competing against the best and beating them.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2016 11:25:03
I've heard (from a usually reliable source - has been reliable in the past) that Bielsa is going to be the next manager? What do the eds think?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You know he can't speak any English don't you?}

18 May 2016 12:25:37

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2016 00:05:44
Supposedly lukaku's dad has said he will leave Everton before euros. shame but he was a reserve team striker before he came to us and West Bromwich. he ain't the only striker to put a ball in the net. i'm sure if he goes we will get an adequate replacement. wilson from Bournemouth looks good enough.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

18 May 2016 00:29:17
you really think replacing Lukaku is that easy? he has scored 25 goals this season, i doubt Wilson would get anywhere near near that many.

Agree3 Disagree1

18 May 2016 08:54:35
That's the worst part of letting him go, his play is often frustrating but he gets goals, hence the price tag getting banded around.

I don't think it will be good for the team if we keep him against his will, bad sulker. Have to see if we get a manager in who can persuade him to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2016 09:05:18
Have other posters got any opinions on Rondom the forward at West Brom. Always keeps popping up with a goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2016 09:51:33
We don't need an odd goal striker like Rondon. Would take Bony and Berahino as replacements.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 May 2016 09:57:21
I'm sorry but a truly world class striker would have scored way more than 25 goals based on the amount of chances Rom had and missed!

Agree1 Disagree0

18 May 2016 12:23:47
Bluegray, you say you don't want an odd goal striker but youd be happy with Berahino?

Agree2 Disagree0

18 May 2016 13:28:22
Was thinking of Rondom as a second striker, say to replace Kome not as main striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Berahino as a second striker Lewis the lad is young and has goals in him.
