Saturday - Ross Barkley's passion going nowhere. Sign him up and give the lad the armband!
Michael Keane - Sign him up
Saturday - Goalkeeper=evident issue - can't stress enough, sign Jack Butland at whatever cost.
Finally, we shouldn't be resigned to losing Rom, he has a contract for another 2 seasons make him stay one more season. In order to make champions league next season we need him!

Exactly what i said last week. If he goes it is on our terms - ie £100m or thereabouts.

His value may drop somewhat by end of next season but if we get UCL then maybe he stays. And if he doesn't the asking price will still be in the region of what Chelsea are apparently talking about now (or at least the media is)

It is just a starting point for negotiations. we will probably end up with about £70 million. After all, it is a game.

It may be just a game to you but to a lot of blues it's a lot more than a game and to me it is certainly not just a game.

{Ed025's Note - he means a game between the buyer and the seller i suspect OL and hes right, its a game where the buyer wants to pay as little as possible and the seller is trying to get as much as he can, i also think milomj is just about spot on with his guess on the final price mate..

Hi Ed what do you make of the Echo saying Everton have put a £100 million price tag on Rom, is it a statement saying he is going nowhere and will be honouring his contract, or is it to put off major suitors, this could all end in tears, GuernseyBlue.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i dont know what to make of it GB, it seems its to put suitors off but do we really want him to stay if he does not want to be here?, i would prefer us to sell and use the money to invest in a quality replacement myself mate..

If rom stays we wil still sign Rooney and William jose as both deals are likely.

I suspect it's just to try and hike up the price for when suitors do come in for him. If we say £70m, the bids will start at £45m, so maybe saying 100 will mean they start at 70?

Agree Ander, papers keep saying £60 million so By saying £100 million we will not get that but making it clear he will not be going for the £60 million banded about.

Thanks Ed agree with you completely, GuernseyBlue.

I agree to a point Ed in as much as if he wants to go, let him go. The boy has made no secret of his intentions and has been straight up with club and supporters. Now it's time for EFC to be staight up with any prospective suitors, it's £100m or he doesn't go. Never mind "This is the starting price" let's go on from there, take it or leave it.
Pogba went for £89m and he doesn't score goals so £100m for Rom seems about right.

{Ed025's Note - in todays market its not that outlandish mike, goalscorers are the holy grail and say what you like about his overall game but the guy does know where the net is mate..

There is no doubting Lukaku has talent and why shouldn't people pay the money for such talent, show how much they value him as a player and Lukaku should be proud we value him so high.

When you go about telling all who will listen that you arare world class then expect a world class price tag to be put in your head. Personally I can't see us getting more than £60m for him but tbh I would rather take the money and move on, he has made it clear we are not his future.

Lets not forget Everton were prepared to pay £28m when no one else would, we have developed the player over the last couple of seasons and although not the finished article a much better player now!
I think a compromise would be made but really hope the lad could give us another season or two as I feel the club is heading for better times ahead!

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Everton had their chance to have him sign a new contract and the club blew it. He wants to leave, Everton can stop that and then have a disgruntled player on their hands who could potentially see his contract out and leave for nothing.}

its a catch 22 Ed002 let's hope an amicable resolution is forthcoming.

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope so.}

Hello ed

Are we still interested in martina at saints? We need a RB but surely this guy is not good enough if he is 3rd choice at Southampton. I know we nearly got him in summer and now he would be a free but surely we have moved on from lars Jacobsen type freebies.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - trippier at spurs has been looked at jbg, whether or not they would sell is another matter, martina would be very unlikely as i see it mate..

17 Apr 2017 10:56:09
Keep in mind that this is going to be competition for seamus. We aren't likely to get a top class rb just to sit on the bench. Either we go for a really promising youngster, which will depend on what's expected from people like kenny, or we get a solid back up.
