. I see Slimani link has resurfaced tonight and also Bony from City. I really hope there's some truth in this as they would both be very good additions to efc.

Agree bony is proven goalscorer in premier league and he was never going to be a regular starter at man city but think he be good signing for us and ronnie does like to play 2 strikers up front at times think bony and ROM if he stays would make good strike duo because bony is good at holding the ball up and that would allow ROM to run in behind plus give ROM some serious proven competition for his place in the side.

Sounds good rom, bone, slimani

Kone, niasse out.

Bony was good at Swansea and had to make the move to city, but aguero was always going to be number one, and bits hard to find form from the bench, I think he'd be a great signing, fingers crossed he comes to us, slimani has a record UN an easier league so is always a gamble but seems to no where the back of the net is and we definitely need that, Rom can stay another year with that competition and we will see just how good Rom is.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed041's Note - I like Bony, problem with city is Aguero is injured a few times a season but as soon as he's fit he goes straight back in. The back up striker will always struggle and get restless.

17 Jul 2016 11:17:40
Kone, Niasse and Rom out.

17 Jul 2016 11:47:09
Think we will only go for slimani if ROM leaves club but defiantly get rid of niasse and kone.

Agree Kone, Niasse out but the thing is having seen them, who the heck is going to buy them unless at a loss to us.

Also the GK rumour I mentioned previously re 19m offer.
Papers reporting 20m for scheimichel.

New look selection of strikers:
- Romelu Lukaku (Obvious starter, if he stays - I think he will)
- Wilfried Bony/ Islam Slimani (One of these. Similar style of player, good to provide genuine competition to Lukaku, an alternative style if we need it, or maybe even to partner Rom up front)
- (New Signing? ) A 'Shane Long', runner type player as Koeman seems to like playing with
- Oumar Niasse (Would still keep him, think he's not been given much of a chance yet)

That'd be ideal.

Eds I've seen were after mvila any truth?
I know where after axel and have offered him the better personal terms but if we miss out are we after any other cms as I feel we lack here especially creatively.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - M'Vila is available but his financial demands in terms of a signing on fee and wages are keeping the clubs at bay - Sunderland and Inter have both stepped back whilst his agent has approached Arsenal who have had long term interest. Another Martinez target who Everton could potentially consider. There is a certain amout of baggage that comes with him.}

16 Jul 2016 08:50:12
Ed's are we expected to make any moves over the coming weeks as everyone else seems to be
I am a little worried that other clubs are getting a head start ahead of us.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The club is trying Kev. A little update:

Everton have been speaking to Bordeaux about Diego Rolan but are still to agree a price which is acceptable to both parties. Something can probably be done but there is a gap between the offer and the asking price still.

Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly has continued to attract the attention of a number of clubs and there have been discussions with Chelsea, who have been given the asking price, then they made an offer and now they have been given a new asking price. Everton has also shown an interest and although the player's agent says the player wants London, Chelsea could step back if they cannot agree a deal and look to an alternative - leaving Everton as the only option for a player who has dug a hole for himself. Interest of Bayern Muich has gone, interest of Manchester United may have gone. Interest of Arsenal is rather tentative but will likely come to nothing. The player has been talking to Napoli about a new contract but his demands are higher than Napoli want to commit to. Napoli has a replacement in mind. Everton will have to keep their options open as the price is very high indeed - enough to make Chelsea think twice.

Roma who lost out to Newcastle previously are looking again at Wijnaldum but Newcastle will likely price him out of a move to Italy. Spurs and Everton are also baulking at the asking price.

Utrecht's Sebastien Haller has been playing well this season and yearns for a move to Ajax in the summer - and Ajax would be interested if Milik were to leave and if their offer is not dwarfed by another side. Inter, Marseille, Spurs, Brighton, Everton, Sunderland, Rennes, Monaco and Borussia Monchengladbach are just some of the clubs who have been attending Utrecht games to watch him this season. A move in the summer will happen - to where is unclear, but it won't be to Beijing Guoan, Aston Villa or Norwich. Don't discount interest from Crystal Palace or Lille.

Everton has been told that Georges-Kevin N'Koudou of Marseille will not be available to them this summer and have now looked to Besiktas' Kerim Frei who WBA, Milan and Newcastle were interested in taking in January - with WBA watching the player on several occasions leading up to Christmas. Besiktas were not keen to sell mid-season. Whilst WBA remain keen on the player, Everton has made an approach to his agent and to his club to see if something might be possible this summer for the winger.}

Hi ed

seeing as though you are dry forthcoming with info this morning, can you answer any below

Any news on witsel, and Mata?
Is kobuially a replacement for stones or in addition? We struggled with just 3 centre backs last season
Where are we at with. Goalkeeper?
How many new faces do you think will come in?
Why in your opinion have me not spent any money? Most blues I speak to are getting more pissed off by the day after the promises given

Cheers.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing new with Witsel - Everton, Inter and Napoli have pushed ahead and have made offers that would be acceptable to Zenit St Petersburg so Axel Witsel needs to see which offer suits him best or whether anyone else steps forward - and perhaps Leicester will do that to replace Kante.

I am not aware of any approach from Everton regarding Mata.

Koulibaly would be a replacement for Stones.

One goalkeeper has signed already - otherwise there is no change right now.

No idea.

The transfer window has only been open for two weeks, fortunately the club is not as stupid as many of the fans who want knee jerk reactions to everything and seemingly want money spent (it doesn't really matter who on - just as long as lots of meney is spent). I have stated before that many of the fans are very naive about the entire transfer process - you need to be tolerant that everything can take time.}

Thanks Ed2 for your in depth analysis. Do you know if there is any progress on the Steve Walsh front or is this just more media hot air?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of what is going on there.}

16 Jul 2016 11:37:19
good posts ed we have been linked with rugani is there any chance of him with juve getting bentia.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Juventus are not keen to sell Rugani but have had a discussion with three sides including Villareal, Milan and an English side (not Everton). But with Benatia arriving space does need to be made and it might be a loan to Milan that provides a solution.}

16 Jul 2016 12:08:58
I think we (Everton) are finding out that simply throwing money around will not guarantee that "top" players will come, like it or not European football or the distinct lack of it at Goodison is going to be a major factor in transfers, and I know people will point at Man U and Chelsea not having it, but they are fairly regular fixtures in the champs league, a season or two out of it for them can be dismissed as a blip, Everton on the other hand have never qualified for the champs league, I just hope we don't end up with a lot of overpaid mercenaries, the cynical side of me says we need to tread carefully, the Witsel saga and the rumours of interest in this Koulibaly have got me worried .

Hi ed the question about the goalkeeper above was referring to a new number 1 I thought stele burg was back up? Do you know if we are looking at any right backs? Desperately need cover there, remember besic in the cup semi?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - These were recent changes - the club remains interested in finding a goalkeeper.}

16 Jul 2016 12:30:24
Great post Ed not only has the window only been open a couple of weeks but also Koeman needs time to assess the squad and decide what is needed where. I am glad we are panic buying for the sake of it just because we have money we don't need to spend it!
Good coaching and better tactics will make a major difference to the teams performances

Well that's my thought.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I agree.}

16 Jul 2016 12:47:34
I personally hope Everton still keep a shewedness about our transfer deals, last thing we want is to be constantly overpriced and know to pay it IMO. If the deal don't suit I hope we move on. I know there is a lot of work surrounding a transfer, fee agreed is only the start, the whole package makes it a lot more expensive and demands can be stupid in requesting.

So my question ed, on average what's the expected time scale to complete a transfer, negotiation wise from club to player?

As always thanks in advance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There are some which can take all summer and others that can be sorted out over a meal. It depends on what negotiation needs to happen and how difficult the clubs are. Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

I know I said thanks in advance ed, but that's a great idiots guide, nice and easy for me and others to have a better idea of the process.

Appreciated, thanks.

As far as I am concerned the most important signing we can make is DoF. Now the clubs are brimming with cash not only are the selling clubs asking ridiculous sums (and that includes Everton) but the players themselves are looking to cash in. I will be happy if Everton take their time to recruit the right players, even if the process takes several years. In the meantime hopefully the new DoF, whoever he is, can unearth some good bargains who don't want ridiculously high wages.

Spot on Ed about knee jerk reactions, the Windows been open 2 weeks, we have had a work out for Ronnie to access first hand, why some are pissed off is beyound me, we will get the signings, Witzel seems like Yarmelenko all over again with messing around.

Where the problem is, is all the money we now have, lazy journal are linking Everton to every man and his dog, fans see this and wonder why we have not signed them, patience will provail fellow Blues, Rome was not built in a day, ignore the rumours from papers and the signings will come.
