ed002) everton have been linked with gabriel from lille just wondered is it true that we are looking at him and also do you think he can be a good centre half in the premier league thanks for responce.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Andy, Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) is one of the CBs Everton have been looking at. Lille didn't want to sell in January although Arsenal pushed - the player has signed a new contract but Arsenal could look to him in the summer - Southampton and Everton have both sent scouts to watch the player on a regular basis.}

cheers ed havnt seen him tbh mate do you think he would be a good edition for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is reasonably well liked as a player - would cost around €30M-€35M.}

thanks ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

With regards to our FFP issues, do the eds know if there have been discussions within the EPL as to the impact the postponement of the season will have on this? . Will clubs be given special dispensation given it will undoubtedly affect the profit/ losses of clubs? .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A very good question. It has not been discussed yet but there is a meeting on Tuesday at UEFA where it is one of the items on the agenda and my gut feeling is they will cut some slack - in which case the Premier League will likely follow suit. I don't know what format it will take. The Premier League rules are way less stringent in any case.}

Ed with all the uncertainty the postponement has caused, it seems Manchester citys problems have slipped off the back pages, are they to be discussed at the meeting, or will it be case of it being low priority at the moment, the two year ban from Europe I suspect has been given simply so they can halve it on appeal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, the Manchester City appeal is not to UEFA and won't be heard before next season starts.}

Great news coming out today that Usmanov is going to be investing a £200 million deal over naming right for our new stadium, that was done nice and quickly.

so, would we be able to use this investment to free up funds for a summer transfer budget, or is it a different thing?

It's 200mil for 10 years naming rights so I assume it's 20mil a year. Not a huge amount in football terms.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is a very large amount just for naming rights.}

18 Mar 2020 06:22:07
Why would he pay so much just for naming rights ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. The club is already aware that the fee paid for the option of being the preferred bidder for naming rights has attracted attention and will likely not be allowed against the significant FFP problem the club has.}

18 Mar 2020 20:35:12
So it's not really good news then all seems a bit cloak and dagger to me ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The money is spread over ten years.}

21 Mar 2020 21:31:39
Not cloak and daggers. Besides which this is now a whole new World. Society, Business etc! is now changed forever. It is no stretch at all to state that given this very serious change in circumstances Everton etc! will have their FFP held in abeyance. Besides our so-called troubles are but a grain of sand.
