No chance Yaya Toure would come.

16 Jun 2016 08:46:00
Good, I wouldn't want Yaya. Rather someone else. Anyway don't think that area is priority for strengthening.

16 Jun 2016 09:05:46
Yaya is on a reported £220,000.00/ wk do we really want him? He is driven by money and if we miss his birthday then we are in big trouble.

16 Jun 2016 09:12:36
I like that pauly.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2016 10:09:35
Why would we pay Rom that sort of money when he wants to go and we've got better midfielders than yay a anyway?

Agree1 Disagree2

16 Jun 2016 10:39:14
Maybe because there is nobody available to us as good as Rom and his goals.

16 Jun 2016 12:44:47
Have you not watched him lately? Adam Hills has better feet than him!

Players seem to be assessed on whether they are good or bad after every game nowadays. Some supporters views on players are up and down like a yo-yo.

Lukaku did play bad the last 10 games if the season and so far in the Euros but that can easily change very quickly.

I'm not his biggest fan but I will not slate him because he is imo a good player.

Is it 4 or 5 seasons in premiership under his belt at the age of 22? Not bad, along with having more or less a goal every 2 games for Everton.

I'm one of those who think we would have been relegated without him but he no doubt has talent. His first touch needs a lot of work. More headers needed also. Apart from them 2 things he is a top player.

His scoring record for his age is up there with the very best. Owen, Ronaldo, Messi etc when they were his age had similar goal records. This indicates his potential imho.

He does attract unnecessary bad press about a move. But he could be an absolute gem that could be well worth holding onto to help us get back to the top. We need to keep players with futures that looks good.

Still one of the best goalscorers around.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jun 2016 16:59:31
Sorry major omission of the word 'not' from above comment. For the record, I am NOT one of those who thinks we would be relegated without Lukaku. God how one word can change what a person is saying.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jun 2016 19:08:56
Unless someone pays silly money for him I would keep him, yes he still needs to develop aspects of his game and yes he dwindled for the last 10 games but then he didn't really have much in way of support or competition in the striker department Kone didn't do much and Niasse was bought and we never really saw him.
If he gets his head down works on his game and let's his goals and football do the talking instead of his father agent and 2nd cousin he is well worth keeping!
And also, as crazy as it is, I am sure he counts as a homegrown player which is an added bonus!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 09:14:14
Everyone seems to be focusing on Rom having a bad last few months of the season and glossing over the fact most of the other players had a bad last half of the season yes he should keep his mouth shut when on international duty and his agent should keep his mouth shut period but I think there's other players in that team that should take more responsibility for our poor season that Lukaku.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 13:39:06
If you give any player enough goes they will score. the difference with a world class player is they will score those guilt edge, match winning chances and he just doesn't seem to have that ability. FA semi is a prime example.

The funny thing is if you did sign kolo he would end up being your best Centrehalf.

Hi ED any news on a director of football yet now we have rk in place?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No and the first pick looks to be heading elsewhere.}

15 Jun 2016 16:21:45
According to liverpool echo everton identify Kevin strootman as summer target.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

15 Jun 2016 16:44:29
All this talk of Everton "identifying targets" is intriguing, as, although we've appointed a manager and his two backroon staff, we haven't set up the scouting and recruitment structure (i. e. a Director of Football) that Mr Moshiri supposedly wants to head up those areas. Who at Everton is handling those at the moment? Does it matter for the time being?

Agree2 Disagree2

15 Jun 2016 16:49:12
Not seen much of him since his terrible injury, prior to that he was genuine world class. If this is real it would be a bigger coup than Koeman.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 17:05:08
Fair enough he's only just come in but he knows the league, knows Everton he's played against them and scouted games he should know who he needs and have ideas from players he's looked at for Southampton that this squad needs.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 17:32:14
Sid, I think the 'scout' 'identifying' these players is the journalist and who he wants to pull out his a*se each day.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 18:05:40
This would be a great signing if he's fully over that injury. But I suspect we're going to be linked with every Dutchman on the planet.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Jun 2016 19:15:05
From previous conversations on here, if I understand correctly we still have our scouting network, it's not like every single person was sacked alongside Martinez.
But I would also guess a lot of the current identified players are from journalists trying to sell stories be that from agents making unfounded claims or from spotting an Everton scout at a match those sort of things.
I could be wrong though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the scouting network is having a major overhaul ST as moshiri is not happy that 2 of the main scouts have outside interests mate..

15 Jun 2016 16:11:25
On the subject of goalkeepers I think a few are available.
Stephen Mandanda is on a free having left Marseille, good experience in Europe etc.
Asmir Begovic should leave Chelsea, premier league experience and was very good at Stoke. Shouldn't be more than £10m
JASPER CILLESSEN From Ajax has been linked in the past.
Bernd Leno from Leverkusen is highly rated and may fancy a go at premier league.
Mattia Perin from Genoa, Italy number 2 GK behind Buffon and agent talking about him moving.
Just a few I would consider as better than what we have and all reasonably priced and better than KRUL.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2016 16:31:16
Either Leno or Perin would be great shouts for us.

Swiss keepr Yann Sommer looks pretty good so far, plays for Monchengladbach. Might be worth a look.

Not sure of the name, but the No 2 keeper from PSG, has been on loan to villareal and kept 15 clean sheets last season, anyone know the name, and is he on the market?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 12:29:26
Alright Ed, was on the Echo site few days back that we are interested in Nani, paper talk or any truth to this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

15 Jun 2016 09:28:27
Was saying rather get Krul and between him and Robles they would be surely a good keeper between them.

Maybe the media is linking Krul because of the Dutch connection. Be interested in what you have to say Ed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - As I said, strikes me as a risky plan if that is what the club are plotting.}

15 Jun 2016 10:05:05
Risky, yes. But with luck it could turn out to be good business. I'm sure the medical staff could assess him to see the extent of the injury.

We need at least one keeper. He's 27 and would be approaching his prime as a keeper shortly.

This is all based on him being lucky with injuries obviously. Don't think he'd break the bank and worth taking the risk imho. If it paid off it would be fantastic.

Other option is spend big and get an established injury free player. I just love getting bargains. Hate spending big wads of money. Have to be a dead cert to go into 10's of millions for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 14:25:41
I've always liked him, but I know a couple of Newcastle fans, who's opinions I trust, who don't rate him at all. May be a bit of a Howard situation where everyone in the league thinks he's good except his own fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 09:26:36
Ed, I see we are linked with Krul in some reports. Are you aware of any interest?

Not the 'marquee' signing some would be looking for but could be a very good addition imho. Between him and Robles they could compete and keep each other on their toes for number 1. Get the best out of both of them then.

Can't see many top keepers available. Is a position I'd like to be very strong but Krul could turn out a shrewd bit of business with a bit of luck.

Being linked with Hart for £40m is ludicrous in my opinion. I'd rather get Krul for a fraction of the price and the best out of him and Robles for.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any approach for Krul but given he has been out for nearly a season with a very serious injury it has to be considered a risky approach to take.}

15 Jun 2016 10:58:26
Can't see us being interested in krull especially with being out for a year with serious injury goalkeeper is not a position we can gamble on and he would be a big gamble ed we have also been linked with Alex witsel for 30 million do u know if we have an interest in him and do u recon he be a good buy for us plus 30 mil for a player with 1 year on his contract seems a bit excessive to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Axel Witsel was looking for a new challenge; Juventus, Milan or Olympiakos thought they may be able to provide in the summer of 2015. Juventus put an offer on the table that got as far as talks taking place - but it was not enough for a deal to happen. Milan stepped back due to cost - as Olympiakos have already done. Chelsea were approached in October but the requested deal was a little unusual and not suited to the club - they have since been approached again but are not keen. PSG were also approached and they may look at Witsel again but have other priorities. Spurs, Milan and Napoli have maintained a position that they "may" be interested in a deal but want clarification on the proposed transaction. In the interim, Roma and Bayern Munich has been approached and offered a deal that was thought that they may find acceptable in January - but they didn't – it is unclear if they will look toward a summer deal at this time. With the ban hanging over Atletico Madrid it would not be out of the question of seeing an offer from them in the summer. Roma may be an option – if the deal is right. Juventus may well return with a cash offer once they have secured sales. Don't rule out Spurs. I am not aware of interest being shown by Everton nor any approach to his agent or club - nor if he would be interested in a side not involved in Europe with limited prospects of getting in to the Champions League.}

15 Jun 2016 07:58:24
Looks like both Manchester clubs are in for Stones for 50mill what do you think Ed would you let him go for that mucu?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Putting aside the amount, if the offer is acceptable to Everton and if the player wants to leave then in needs to happen.}

14 Jun 2016 17:37:17
Good news about RK but why only 3 year contract Ed let's hope he get us to where we should be top 4 will do for a start.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the contracts are a joke to be honest AB they are not worth the paper they are printed on, if a player or manager wants to leave then he will do so i would not let it bother you mate, RK has design,s on being the barca manager at some time and you never know 3 years might be enough for us depending on how it goes..

15 Jun 2016 07:06:56
Three years was enough to put Chelsea and Man City on the map when they received their investment. So I'm thinking it's enough to keep both party's and the fans happy at this stage.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think your right ace..

15 Jun 2016 19:22:15
I agree, we can always revisit the contract later, let's just concentrate on pushing for Europe and that top four and some great football that gets everyone talking about the rise of our great club!
