The Everton fans do seem to be more fickle and bigger moaners than many other clubs’ supporters (especially if you read this forum’s posts! ) , but that’s because they believe it’s been a case of too many false dawns while other clubs have stayed at (or come to) the fore.

Likewise, I can appreciate the club feeling badly let down (to put in mildly! ) when previous attempts to inform and involve certain “official” fan-groups led to some “sensitive” conversations being widely released by those groups (at best inadvertently, at worst nigh on maliciously) .

Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, the club should not retreat into a bunker mentality - which only encourages speculation and suspicion amongst the media and fans - but rather embrace the opportunity to really communicate, control the narrative, and engage with the fans - be that through traditional media, social media, the club itself, or supporter and community organisations.

Everton do excellent work in the local community and surely could apply the same professionalism and care to other ares of the club’s activities off the field?
It’ll never be perfect and there’ll always be issues that aren’t liked by different sections of the fanbase, but previous incidents shouldn’t stop the club - especially the board - realising that communication and engagement are vital in modern football.

Not sure what you want them to divulge Bobby. As far as the Manager's job is concerned what can they do. Unless they are after a Manager who is not working they have to go through proper channels and it would be wrong of them to inform the fan base before those discussions were completed. The stuff in the media is pure speculation and the only thing that is certain at present is that Unsworth is acting Manager.

Not many people know what’s going on re Everton and Silva 40% Everton will go again because silva wants the move 40% say Silva doesn’t want to leave and the last 10% satin Everton have moved on after the first offer.

and the missing 10% said?

We have moved on after our first offer.

If Silva doesn't want it, then ask Tonto.

sky reporting we are no longer in for silva and Sam as Sam isn't happy with a short term deal and Watford are unwilling to let their manager leave so it's back to the drawing board.

Good get Dyche in better than Silva, i don’t know why people would rather have Silva, if they were both British it would be a no brainier.

What do people think about Micheal O'Neill?

Think he's Irish. 😀.

Not enough experience at club level so would be a big gamble.

Only 2 clubs Michael O'Neil has managed are Brechin City and Shamrock Rovers. Not exactly a CV to set the pulse racing and the expectation levels at those 2 plus Northern Ireland are nothing to what he'll encounter at Everton. It's a massive no from me.

Anyone got Roberto Mancini's phone number, I think he's at zenit these days?

Scoundrel, Mancini is a decent manager but his signings and constant fallouts with players makes it a big risk imo and not one we should take.

Hi Ed 025,i see a few of the rags are saying Watford have denied us permission to talk to Silva, anything from your end on this, I presume until we make it worthwhile ie offer loads of dosh for him this story is going to run, cheers mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - obviously watford wont want to lose one of the best up and coming managers GB but if he wants to go then there is not a lot they can do about it mate, there will have to be compensation paid of course but just like lukaku with us thats just the way of the footballing world im afraid, i have not heard anything yet on how are persuit of him is progressing..

14 Nov 2017 09:02:41
Usually Ed once the cub have approached Watford it will only end one way mate, cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Watford having been embroiled in regular losses of managers.}

am I the only one not sold on the idea of silva he went to Hull and did ok but as expected when he went there hull went down then he joins Watford starts off really well but has lost his last 3 games and after 12 games what kind of manager jumps ship where is his loyalty what happens say if we get him then the Arsenal job comes up in the summer and then he wants to go there how will us Everton fans feel then this is a really big decision by the board as it has to be right and I'm not so sure silva is the man.

Kinda agree with you bluey. As ed2 said before he can be a nuisance forcing his way out of clubs and although a good coach his managerial skills are iffy. Plus he has only been in premier league for 12 months or so. Too many questions for me.
I think maybe we can do better.

I second that BLUEY79. I don’t understand this one either. I understand whoever’s appointed isn’t going to please everyone but I’m quite sure Koemans record (which didn’t set the world alight) was better than Silvas before he arrived. Surely we need someone who is actually proven and let DU take the reigns until that sort of manager comes available. Hoddle’s a great shout from one of the Ed’s, Dyche before Silva (for me anyways) . I think a bit of patience is needed here.

it seems we go for flavour of the month managers they should seek outside advice because this a big big decision and our board can't afford to get it wrong.

Agree mate must wait and get this appointment of manager right, i think the board know who they want by now, its just the usual rags dishing up their rubbish to make nonsense headlines to sell papers.

I like what Silva does but yeah there is an aura of Martinez about him.

14 Nov 2017 16:45:04
I agree Swan. Martinez was supposed to be "the man". And look how that worked out.

14 Nov 2017 19:32:56
His attacking set up but shipping goals has all the hallmarks of Martinez.

Agree with above. Another Martinez. We need someone who can organise a defense.
