Among all of the patronising comments made by the media about Everton over-achieving on no money, the relationship between BK and DM is lauded as being one of the best (if not the best) Chairman-and-Manager relationships. I wonder if everything that's happened - no sign of new investment, the contract situation, the team's earlier good form disappearing, results getting worse, the increasingly restless fans getting more vociferous in their disenchantment - has seriously jeopardised this relationship. Even if it hasn't broken down, I doubt if the enthusiasm and optimism between them, that was there only a few years ago, still exists.

I see McAleny is doing well for the reserves, 5 goals in 6 games since he came back from a nasty injury. Anyone know what he's like at defending corners and running the channels? Got to be worth a place on the bench at the moment, he can't do any worse than big Vic or Jela surely.

Believable18 Unbelievable3

Agree that he's worth a go, but it's a big challenge to progress from reserve (U-21) matches to the first team. Then again, every young footballer in the world that's gone on to become a top player had to be given the opportunity to make that step forward at some stage in their career.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anything has to be better than Jela and Anichebe. Those two are stealing a living, both poor strikers who are probably at least one division higher than they should be.

Agree0 Disagree0

The season for us is dead we are safe from relegation so why not bring in the young lads to have a go, they could do no worse than the current crop, Rooney was 17 when he played for us Vaughan 16 so why not. it might just be the tonic we need

get a grip person above how can you say that about jelavic when he had an amazing start to his toffees career so he is going through a baron spell just now but so do the best strikers in the world and then they come roaring back to form ( may I add I am not counting fernando dud torres he is the exception) he is what you call mince.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you will find big Vic as you like to call him, goals to games ratio is pretty impressive this season, not to mention his assists, so if he is as good as Anichebi is this season, get him in the team. Mind you this lad got in the team once before and looked way out of his depth. Place on the bench maybe warranted for his form of late.

Everton to sign brede hangeland from Fulham on free transfer at end of season

Believable11 Unbelievable23

Thats really going to bring the age of the team down isn't it.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a done deal this one

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, he'd be better than Heitinga - who's been very poor this season - but where would it leave Duffy?

Agree0 Disagree0

They would like him to go out on loan for a season to get experience

Is this poster mad get rid of jelavic he is a class striker that is just going through a bad spell at the moment it does not help that moyes is asking him to do a lot of chasing back when he is best at being in the box. I am sure lots of everton fan's will agree that they need to keep hold of him. his form will come good again and also leighton baines needs to stay and is probably worth close to 30 million so your mad if you think 40 million for the 2. love to know ed's thoughts on wether jelavic should go doubt he will say he should go though. {Ed007's Note - I woulkd say Jelavic will go, whether he should or shouldn't is immaterial IMO.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Our squad is thin as it stands - and the younger players have yet to prove they're ready to compete as first team regulars - so I don't see how the original poster's suggested transfer dealings would help give us the quality and quantity we surely need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to get real with valuations, full backs, no matter how good just don't go for much more than 15m, even that lad at Barca only cost 18, so don't think for one minute we would get any more than that.

Ed007 Can I ask what you've got against Jelavic? Just seems to me that you rip into him a lot when he's done nothing but give 100% every game, never moaned and has been a real team player.

BitterBlue {Ed007's Note - That is exactly what the fans of his previous two clubs said about him, just before he spat the dummy and went on strike to get a move away. And I don't think I ripped into him in that reply, I just said I don't expect him to be an Everton player next season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yea I know you didn't rip into him on that reply it's just that you always seem to have something to say about him and it's usually critisism.

I think the OP has his valuations pretty much spot on, we won't get more than £25m for Fellaini, as it's been well documented he has a buy-out clause that's a little higher than £22m. And the fact he's vastly over-rated and petulant means there won't be too many interested parties. Baines is worth between £15-20m dependent on who's buying.
Not sure I agree with the rest of the post though, further depleting the squad serves no readily apparent purpose, aside from ridding ourselves of the dead wood and the over 30s. Get rid of Fellaini, Heitinga, Naismith and bring in some fresh, energetic, enthusiastic legs and gently phase out the old guard, ie Neville, Osman, Distin for starters.
Might take time and a little money but Sly money and the sales of Fellaini, Heitinga and Naismith should mean we can bring in more than 4 or 5 quality players and slowly rebuild. Most of our youngsters aren't yet ready to step up to the plate aside from maybe Barkley, who looks the most likely at the moment.

ed can I just correct something jelavic went on strike at rapid vienna to force a move to rangers but at rangers he didn't go on strike for a move he was sold by the previous owner craig whyte who we subsequently learned was a person and a con man he kept all the jelavic transfer money that everton paid to rangers. my guess is if jelavic doe's leave then it is going to be to one of the top clubs in germany or even the likes of valencia or atletico madrid. I know for fact that atletico madrid owner enrique cerezo is a huge admirer of the croat striker and would be keen to take him to estadio vicente calderon in the summer. anyway let's hope he hits some form before the end of the season and if he does go then it will be for a bigger fee than everton paid rangers for him. good luck to everton for the rest of the season.

sats game v city will probably be the same line up as the wigan game! moyes won't play barkley in center mid he rather play osman and neville and let our mid get over run with the like of silva, nasri, toure, but toure ain't the fastest and i'm sure barkley could out run him i'm just hopeing if felli does play sat he gives 100% because he ows that to the fans after last sat so do most of the squad rant over COYB

Believable8 Unbelievable8

You can bet your bottom dollar that ManCity will try to wind up Fellaini and he'll have to be very disciplined and not get frustrated and react like he did at Stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea i'm sure they will and I hope felli doesn't go off on one I just hope we can scrape a 1-0 win not lose like 4-0

A little article in one of the national newspapers today and I quote:-
"It's not the best of timings for Everton to have sent out their season-ticket renewals just after their horrendous FA Cup defeat by Wigan. And it is noticeable that manager David Moyes does not feature in any of the season-ticket promotional literature".
DM to my knowledge has always done the intro but this time it has been done by Phil Jagielka.

Draw your own conclusions boys.

I think he is going myself mate, looks that way, but no one person is bigger than the club and we will move on.

Have Schalke got a new manager yet??

To be honest I have always been a fan of Moyes but getting a bit disillusioned now, think it has gone stale and we will also cash in on Felliaini too which will give us a few bob and a new attacking manager hopefully.

Our priority should now be to get Baines on the biggest contract we have ever offered any player for the next 5 years otherwise we will lose him and I personally think he is our prize asset and not Moyes/Felli

Tv Black smoke coming out of Goodison Park,. David Moyes is still the Manager!.

Agree0 Disagree0

He should sign with agreement with bill to leave if someone comes in for him then the club can get money for him that's what we do with players easy {Ed007's Note - Isn't that what compensation is?}
