Not bothered about pre season results to be honest yes it's nice to win games but honestly people will be saying Martinez out next Manchester United and city lost as well give it a rest we probably played most players that won't be starting 11 anyway first game of season is when results matter

I pretty much agree with what's in the OP. Just wish posters would leave their name - especially registered posters since their names are highlighted in blue and are therefore the genuine named poster.

To read some posts criticising the performances in today's first pre-season match it seems IMHO that those posters have overlooked the fact that it was just that: the first pre-season match. Sure, some players made mistakes and some looked off the pace, but a few of the U-21 players got some time on the pitch and there were some good/promising performances - Gibson, Kennedy, Oviedo, and Grant - amongst the general rustiness. Add in the fact also that the players were having their first competitive/proper (well sort of) match with Roberto Martinez having made a few adjustments to the shape of the team and the tactics. I expect it to take the remainder of pre-season for those changes to bed in. On top of that, we've several other players - senior and youngsters - to become available for he rest of the pre-season. It's great to win matches, but pre-season is about fitness, team-gelling, patterns of play, etc. , in readiness for the "real" matches during the season. Once a blue, always a blue!

Put things into perspective for f sake. They are 10 days short of starting their season, far ahead in terms of pre season training and a Champions League team. We played many youngsters including Velios (about time) and he scored and I hope he gets hos chance.

Pre season is about experimenting and not about results.

Feck me, it was a warm up game (fitness) against the champions of Austria who start the defence of their title next week. Our first game back with several youngsters playing, several first teamers away and the rest running off their holiday beer bellies.
If we look like this with a week to go to the season then is the time to start criticising, not now.

I agree with the replies from Mart and others. Let's keep things in perspective.

Whoopee doo, the Champions of Austria, ok we where sloppy today fair enough, and its the first warm up game, but don't make it sound like we've been playing Barcelona, it doesn't mean they're good because they're in CL

Still though, you can be as bias as you like that's the first defeat. would've been nice to start with a win, even 1-0 would've done. Get used to it lads, said all along this fella will take us close, if not down. He will hopefully be gone by Christmas, although we are now a going to become a bit of a laughing stock so not sure who will be next in. let's hope someone better can save us!

You are entitled to your views but seriously we are going to struggle. everyone is smiling and saying the right things but we are going to struggle. He hasn't got a clue. I don't want to go on about it and spread doom and gloom but rather than saying get a grip to me take a good look at what we are and what is on the horizon. All I am saying is its going to be very tough.

To the poster who wrote, "it's going to be tough", I also believe that everyone is entitled to express their views - albeit within the realms of some decency - but posters who don't (or won't) leave their names lose some credibility IMHO. My name is obviously made up, but others recognise my posts when the name is highlighted in blue at the end of a post.

Cowpat why do you get credibility for leaving your name, are you going to research them like to find out if in your opinion there worthy enough to comment? its all about opinions you don't have to agree with them, you can even argue with them about there point but the name thing doesn't make a jot of difference, unless you think you should be only allowed to comment because your a regular?

Rolando, Diame, Honda seem the most likely in my eyes. 13. 5- 16 million. We will replace any player we sell. If Baines and Fellaini go, we will make atleast 2 massive signings as we intend to reinvest any potential transfer income back into the team with immediate effect. It will be devestating if we sell felli and baines but big names will come.

Only Diame and maximum 5m. one enough. No need massive signing reason is we should keep Felli and bainsey here.

We need to progress, which means we need to add. We need more quality if we are to get champions league football.

What do you think of that ed? {Ed025's Note - seems a bit far fetched to me mate..

Anyone else heard that Fellaini is supposed to be not bothered about leaving. Looks like he wants to give it one more season with us if he can play in his preferred CM role rather than as a striker. I'd personally take the £££

Fellaini is a class act I'd rather keep him, he can play his DF mid role no we have more attacking options. Who's better than him that we could buy for 24 million he would go for?

If felli stays and is played dm there is no1 better in his position in our league. I wouldn't take the money. and even is buyout is met it up to him if he goes. guess we just have to wait and see what happens

I don't think he's said he's ever wanted to leave though? Of course, he'll eventually leave for CL football; but who could blame him for leaving to a bigger club if his clause is met.

Felleni is class and can't see many teams winning the midfield battle against us with him in as long as he is happy to stay would not sell him as can't replace his quality for less than 25 million

and another attacking player. list of 5. only know two & one was moses, which now appears dead. the other is gary hooper. don't know the other 3. sorry. back up plans are in place if baines felli and johnny leave. james mccarthy is the number 1 target if money becomes available via felli.
