Batten down the hatches Ed, i've caused a revolution. The minute these guys actually fork over 20m that they don't have will be the minute we'll hand Baines over. Tell me Reddy, how many season tickets does it take to pay off an 800m and rising debt?
MikeyBlueNose.
Agree0
Disagree0
Silly toffee. The existing debt stands at around 426m and is decreasing steadily. We have the biggest revenue in the premier league ( that excludes oil merchants own money ) and are infact one of the most valuable clubs on the planet.
sparky
Agree0
Disagree0
Silly Manc. The debt is far higher than that and isn't decreasing steadily at all. The Glaziers are in panic mode trying to flog off small shares in the club at the stock exchange just to generate enough dosh to sustain the club. You won't be selling many season tickets this year either. Lack of economic growth in Britain and your season tickets are still 700-900 each. You're pricing your supporters out of watching you which is disgraceful. The club should be more about the people rather than filling it's greedy pockets to get rid of the burdening debt.
MikeyBlueNose.

reddy {Ed025's Note - lets keep the banter friendly guys..
Agree1

Fair comment Ed, I was thinking the same when the rumours started, but no action from the club made we wonder if DM was looking at him for left midfield in January and managed to get peanuts at the last minute when Pranjic fell through.
If that was the case and we are doing a deal with the spuds for peanuts full time, it may explain the lack of action this time around? Either way it is a pity I would have liked to have seen Pranjic at Goodison.
WtG.
Agree1

Or are we just forgetting players own greed? We could well have been in for him but even though a free transfer he was asking for too much a week? I suspect that's what happened with rodegella ( spelling?) but was being too greedy!
To be far I would be the same in my own job but football players these days are another level!
I hope, no I believe Baines shows loyalty and knows even though things are tight the club on the field are going placed!

Believable11
Unbelievable34
Interesting. Remember the two mistakes in the semi final? Distin's back pass and Coleman's foul that each led to conceded goals. I get the impression that Moyes blamed Coleman (stupid foul) more than Distin (genuine mistake). Also, every player has his price - perhaps Coleman's is being met.

I'd take 3.5M for him as I think he's had his 1 good season! If he goes, good luck to him, if he stays, he needs to concentrate on his defending and become a right back not right mid!
Agree1
Disagree0
I dont understand where this one has come from. He struggled with injury last term but the season before he was superb, he has performances under his belt where he has roasted Cole and Bale (remember his league debut) why let him go, I don`t see it happening. Moyes loves player who can play in multiple positions as well and Seamus can play I in defence and on the wing also on either side. would be madness.

Rumours are that Rodwell is looking to leave as he wi
will struggle to break up the Felli/Gibson partnership
and Moyes has grown tired of his injury record
and big boy attitude that has hardly been backed
up.
He has already visited Southampton after realising
Man Utd/Chelski are not interested but the real
opportunity is Spurs. AVB likes Rodders and wants a
squad of young players to mould and not answer
back like what happened at Chelski where he lost the dressing room ala Clough at Leeds style.
The maths is simple AVB wants to get rid of Defoe and Peanuts and Moyes could see an opportunity
to trade Rodders for both and get a few quid too.
Now that would be canny business. COYB!
Believable13
Unbelievable26
I'm a Liverpool fan but surely Rodwell will start ahead of Gibson. He's a much better player IMO. I'd rather have Rodwell than Pienaar, Gibson and Defoe. {Ed025's Note - as you say..your a liverpool fan!..

A liverpool fan? And you admit to it in public?
WtG.
Agree0

Swapping Rodwell for Pienaar and Defoe would be a bad deal imo. Rodwell needs a bit of time but will be a classy and valuable player for us. Defoe is 29, Pienaar 30. Short term additions to an ageing squad... Rodwell is young and 3 decent CMs is not too many
Agree1
Disagree0
Is Rodwell not that rated by Everton fans then. I've always rated him quite highly. Havent seen as much as you though obviously. It was just my opinion, didn't mean to cause any offence. {Ed025's Note - he will become a great player, but not yet imo..
Agree1
Disagree0
Why is a so called Liverpool fan trawling an Everton rumours page? is that because you have no rumours of your own to read?
I would never waste my time trawling RS pages. Maybe there is some sort of sado-masochistic thing going on here...

Make a straight swap, Pienaar, Defoe and Naughton for Rodwell and I would go for that.

The last few seasons ive been saying sell rodders 4 funds but now i feel hes gunna become world class if we get 2 seasons injury free he will be 1 hell of a midfield enforcer
griffo
Agree1
Disagree0
I believe that moyes wants to make an assault on the top 4 this season! he going all out to get there, and for that to happen, he knows he needs a strong squad! and that will mean one or two players being patient! as we all know! injuries will play there part, so it vital he dos,nt let the likes of rodwell, or anybody else for that matter, to leave!!........johnmacfromfazak
Agree0

Why Defoe? We already have a forward who is something of a poacher how about someone who can create chances or work hard.
Agree0

Why are people so desperate to get rid of Rodwell in two years he will be a great midfielder and we won't have a shot at being able to afford him.
Agree0

Personally I see Rodwell and Barkley as one hell of a future centre midfield partnership for us.
WtG. {Ed025's Note - 2 really good players there wtg..
Agree1

Utter nonsense this post, people seem to think that Everton Have first 11 and thats it, and that there is no plan for competition for places.
Moyes is looking to build a squad that can perform all season rather than just the second half so all the midfielder will get a chance a some point and they will have to perform to a higher standard to keep the place. I don't think this scares rodders in fact i think it will bring the best out of him.
Agree1
Disagree0
Plus get into you your head, after canny business at the end of last summer we do not need to sell first team players, if you don't believe me believe Moyes He has said it several times. Moyes had a chance to leave but stayed why? its simple because he had the assurances he needed so al the kopite who come on hear cos they are bricking it about the own clubs business can do one. and the blues who a feeling pessimistic please keep the faith and unlike last season with the farce of the blue union lets show we are the best fans on the planet and sqaush stupid negative rumour like this nonsense. I just don't see Defoe wanting to move too far north from London.

If and when the big Zlatan Ibrahimovic deal to PSG goes through Guillaume Hoarau will be offered to Everton for little amount of money. Don't know much about him but I remember us being linked with him in January.

Seems overpriced. I think we need to look at younger players, not buying 30 year olds.

I agree, 5 mill well too much. Move on unless cheaper

So you would rather spend 5 mil on a younger player who might not fit into our team, or you could get pienaar for 5 mil and we play the same if not better than the back end of last season, easy choice for me mate, pienaar all day.
ewefc {Ed025's Note - he just fits ew..i agree..

I agree. even at 30 or so he will have 3-4 good years left in him. Whcih is the length of an average contract. But more important - we know he fits into the team and the team knows him. Thats worth paying a few million for by itself. Imagine if we could buy another Jelavic for the same price we paid for him before. wouldnt you snap thier fingers off {Ed025's Note - yes

Pienaar is vital to Everton he had the biggest impact on us finishing strongly last season. His partnership with Baines is the best left sided partnership in British football. So yes, if it is 5m we must pay it, (SIMPLE) really.

Pienaar will be the only signing from this point - unless we sell Baines, Fellaini or Rodwell.
An on-loan striker (as with Straq last season) will be the only other new face. Michael Owen an option but RS links make this unlikely.

Piennar will be signing according to Radio city this morning, plus he's been given the number-22 on his shirt. As for Rodwell i'd swap him for Defoe, Owen is a proven Goalscorer but i can't stand the Guy leave him alone Mr Moyes.

Owen aside i would take getting Pienaar back and Naismith in as a cracking summer, a lot of people want a right winger and new right back but i honestly think we are ok for that side we use the left to attack so need a rb who can cover in the middle Nev and Hibbo can both do that and Colemanwill come good again
Mike aintree {Ed025's Note - i would like to see another forward brought in mike as well..

Am afarid that cant be rite. moyes sed himself there is more to come so a fink we shud b seein sum new faces and micheal owen will neva play for everton, youve got more chance of getin dixie dean on the team sheet.

What was the source of the original rumour? Plenty of sources (eg David Moyes) suggesting more signings. Agree with Mike except i think we need a RB. Hibbo has be great but I think its time.
