Hi ed's and fellow blue's, went the game today for the first time since the 2-2 draw against Newcastle. Weren't at our best today but still played some great stuff Osman, Jagielka, Baines, Fellaini were outstanding and the Gwladys went mental when Jelavic scored, hopefully he can go on a run of goals, we create chances and if Jelavic gets on the end of them we will give someone a hammering soon.
Just wanted to comment on people criticising Coleman, the lad cost 60 grand from the League of Ireland 3 years ago and has played right mid for us for 2 years, he is now getting a run of games in his preferred position at right back and is quality going forward, yes he is naive at times defensively but he WILL improve and the only way he can improve is by playing a run of games and getting support of our great fans so give the lad a break, he actually played well today but I still heard a few fans getting on his back. He might be 24 but he still inexperienced at this level and lets be honest for 60 grand he is a absolute steal, the way I am looking at it and the way I think everyone should look at it, is he IS improving defensively each game and will only get better especially learning off the likes of Neville and Hibbert and he is always going to have the quality going forward so just imagine how good he can be eventually !!!
Hope Mirallas injury isn't too serious because he really does give us something different on the right wing and I don't think Naismith is quite ready to effect games as good as Mirallas does at the minute.
Anyway, were 4th and with winnable games coming up we need to stop conceding goals first because we can't rely on our character to get back in games every week. We have a great chance with the games coming up too get to Christmas still in the top 4, strengthen the squad in Jan, (I would like another centre mid and a striker) and see where we can go from there.

Mike your spot on with this, and i think Coleman has alot of ability and pace, i think he is going to be a cracker, and at 60k, of course a snip

Coleman is hopeless and will be dropped as soon as hibbo or gibbo is back - it doesn't matter how much he cost us if he ends up costing us a champs league place - as that will cost us tens of millions

I think Coleman is decent. He has made at least one very costly mistake, like at Fulham, but he wasn't at fault for Sunderland's goal yesterday was he?

I agree that he is getting better every game and it will obviously be a lot better for us when Hibbo is back. Coleman seems to lose concentration towards the end of matches so perhaps Hibbo could come on for him before he starts to lag a bit.

Got to be a red with that comment give the lad a chance he works hard for the team and gr8 goin forward and crossing the ball to imwt

Agree give him a chance and get of his back he is playing well going forward yes he not as good as hibbo defending but we are attacking now, and another point if sunder lands goal would have been on the right hand side people would be having ago at Coleman but because it was on the left nobody will question baines position because he is quality England lb. why do we always have to have someone to have a go at.
Robbie

Looked me like Coleman was out of position a few times and from what I heard from in the after match interview DM he may be looking to change the defense. I do agree Coleman will get better but we need a clean sheet to boost confidence.if we started keeping clean sheets even the big boys will start to fear us and top three may well be in our grasp.COMB

I agree Coleman is a decent player, just needs more playing time and he will cone better!! COYB

Coleman is good going forward but am sure a defender is meant to be albe to defend

Good post. Whilst some of the criticism of some of our players may be justified just what do the boo boys think they will achieve by getting on the players backs during the game. We are supposed to be a "knowledgeable" crowd so surely the boo boys can appreciate the drain in confidence that their actions will lead to. At the top level of any sport...confidence is everything ... And at 4th in the prem we are very much at the top level!

Totally agree, we as Everton fans have always used a player a s a scapegoat, It was always Hibbert and Osman back in the struggling days because they are the local lads! When we win no-one mentions Phil Neville, if we draw or lose it's Neville is too old, he is not a midfielder etc etc, at the minute it's Coleman, he is young at this level and as the original post says cost 60 grand, Hibbert is 1st choice, but whilst he is out we have Coleman there and he offers something different, and will only get better so support the lad and eventually he could become a great modern day full back he has all the attributes! and seems like a hard working lad who is willing to learn so give him a break
