I know that some people do not agree with me about the good quality of football that we were served up under Moyes in his last 2 seasons, but now people must see that Martinez inherited a very strong squad with goalscorers all over the pitch and with an age group that could have been improved by adding lots of promising youth to it. Although Martinez has added Besic and McCarthy and Lukaku, he has not replaced the creative midfielders such as Pienaar and Osman or Gibson at all. Bringing in ageing players like Eto'o, Barry and Kone is now starting to show the problems of short term views. As these come to the end of their careers, add to that Howard, Jags, Hibbert and even Baines.and this after losing Distin shows just what a vulnerable position we have been left in. I have gone on and on about this I know, but it really is coming to "fruition" now and no team can incorporate wholesale changes with new players without disruption. It takes half a season minimum for them to bed in (unless they are real super quality like when Chelsea or Man City spend big time. We really need at least 3 signings now and probably another 3 next window. and move on some of our older players. This really is crunch time for our team. We are playing absolutely boring football and you can see the fear in the players eyes.that's another bad thing to consider. I really fear for us and just hope for a miracle. Stoke, Palace and others are still signing players and I hear Stones is going and yet another lazy signing in Evans from Everton is on his way!?

Very valid points degsy, they seem to bring up the problems most are worried about. Do we have the resources to replace these players? Or is Martinez going on about these youngsters because he knows sooner or later they will have to play them? Do we trust Roberto to replace the players? I dont, his wigan team got worse every year & his everton team seem to be going that way! Interesting & worrying few weeks ahead

Totally agree. It's very worrying times for Everton. I was gutted when moyes went. I would have him back in a heartbeat

Evans has won premier leagues with man u, this is where people like you don't know anything. He did the job and won the league 3 times, he's decent and would do the job when stones leaves.

Agree2 Disagree4

11 Aug 2015 01:04:31
I have mentioned this before go look at the stats for definitively moyes first six months of his last season And we all know what happened round Christmas with fergie, it's like moyes tactics were shared with RM in his first year then he took over last season and well, it ain't good, plus do we not have basically the team from two years ago, maybe if we had a decent signing the team would have a lift

Lanny Toffee, Anderson won the PL. Shall we sign him aswell?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 03:14:05
LannyToffee-i have had my fair share of debates with Degsy and I will not argue with you, I just don't feel it is fair to say he knows nothing for saying some facts. Those facts being, we have a lot of issues and they need sorting out. On Evans and I promised to lay off commenting on players but Evans winning trophies with Manchester United does not mean he is a good player nor does it make him an adequate replacement for Stones. Bad players have won things before and good players have won nothing. Casing point, Matt Le Tissier won absolutely nothing with Southampton because Southampton at the time were not a good team. Anderson won things with Manchester United because Manchester United were the best in the League at the time. If you compare these players trophy wise and base their ability off of this, Anderson looks like Zidane and Le Tissier looks like Kilbane. From a standpoint of analysing them as individual players rather than players simply there to take credit for a team effort, Le Tissier is the better player. I used Le Tissier simply because he seemed like a necessary player due to how good he was against the team he played for and same with Anderson. It is a myth imo that players who win trophies are automatically better. I probably did not change or even affect your opinion but I hope it is an example worth looking at.

Well thanks guys for the support.appreciated.I will try and substantiate further. If you read all my post.it is mainly about unbalance of squad, youth and up and coming players versus "lazy" signings. Stones is 21 and obviously one of the best if not the center backs around. Evans is 27/28. Add him in to the squad with the following players signed by Martinez (I know some have gone. but in 2 years these are the players we had at center back) Distin, Alcaraz, Jags, Evans? When we signed Galloway and a couple of other kids.eg Garbutt.they were good future signings. Signing the likes of McCarthy too. But Barry, Kone, Alcarazand now Lennon and maybe Evans. to me it is adding age to an already ageing squad. One or two mature players are needed.not 7 , 8 or 9. Especially when you already have 26 and 27 year olds. It all catches up later on and gives future problems. this is what I was frustratingly trying to point out last year. as players age, they are also more injury prone. Evans may well be a decent player? But without looking for another Stones from Barnsley or another Coleman from Slithgo (both signed at 20 years old) we accept that we have other clubs cast offs. Players deemed not good enough by their clubs! And I can guarantee Evans will be out injured more than Stones over the next 3 seasons. Just because of his age.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 08:34:22
Evans is a player on the wain hence Everton are willing to sell him, he is not even an expensive signing which says it all, I would much prefer an up and coming player like Van Dijk, who is more athletic stronger and faster also has good touch and hopefully a more commanding figure.

how embarasing to see your manager being taught a tactical lesson by an ex red , what the hell is going on with this club giving martinez a free run to bring the club down , the cert signing will be lennon and can see evans as well , I have watched van dijk play for celtic and he looks a classy player but why would he want to come to everton the way were going or anyone else half good I hope I am wrong and rm supprises us all. I have supported this club for over 50 years and looked foreword to every game but now I just bite my nails every time I watch

Can somebody explain to me which of our 3 targets STRIKER, CENTRE BACK or NUMBER 10 is Lennon? Is it really going to be 1 season forwards and 2 seasons backward|

Agree6 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 00:14:50
Even if Messi decided to come to us folk would moan! Lennon was a bright spark second half of the campaign head down and run his arse off on the wing with a couple of goals also. It boils my piss that the critics and boo boys at Goodison treat players the way they do, the buck stops at Martinez not the players and if not carefull the said boo boys etc will drive certain players away. Stick by what we have and back our glorious team.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 02:00:57
The point I was making is that RM stated positional targets and Lennon fits non@. BTW our last glory as 20 years ago Dogs of War etc. We need new blood in the right positions to give us impetus and not playing like crabs

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 04:47:41
To be fair Lennon revitalised our team last season. He put that much effort in that the rest of the team had to follow suit. If the price is right (5mil-ish) he would be a great signing. A proper right winger who hugs the touchline. We definately let ourselves down not signing Payet or Wijnaldum, and Gestede. Not sure about Shaqiri, thought he was a quality player but as someone else mentioned, he must have his baggage or there would be a lot more teams in for him

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 11:00:25
I completely agree with the fact that Lennon was infectious last year, he worked harder than all of them, also do not forget that he is a right winger, that does free up maybe mirallas to play 10 and also that naisy and Barkley can also play that role. Not to mention I have wondered a lot over the years why pienaar has never played there, him and Osman both would of played well in there

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2015 22:04:58
Ok I know this is clutching at straws but it's all I have left.

Martinez is in west brom. A stop off at Stoke on the way home to speak to Mr shakri?

He hasn't signed on the dotted line for them yet.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

10 Aug 2015 22:31:25
RM was not at West Brom - he was in the studio (in London) and left before the match in order to get back to Merseyside. I imagine he was in London earlier in the day to meet with BK (at his London office) and discuss transfers, etc., - or he might have met agents and other concerned parties in London to discuss possible transfers. I missed the start of the Monday night football show, so I don't know if his presence was explained further. Clearly RM was a short-notice replacement for Gary Neville who was absent due to family bereavement.

10 Aug 2015 22:32:13
What questions were asked to make the club to talk to us

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2015 22:50:10
Where's all the money, why have we only got 2 players in when Bobby said wanted business done early, who owns Everton, is the club for sale, if so how much, why have we not had any investment, why no new ground or redevelopment of goodison, what plans are in place for us to push forward! That's just what I can rember

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 04:52:15
Was good to hear Collymore referring to us as one of the biggest clubs in England as we all know we are, but a lot of people forget. I've never really liked him but the way he talked about us changed my opinion. We need transparency so we know what to expect

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 09:02:43
There all the questions every single everton fan has asked for the Last ten years But I don't think we're going to get the answer's just cause collymoore asked them questions

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 15:57:38
Who own Everton? Go to Companies House and see who owns what shares and in what amounts, it's not hard. Where's the money gone? The accounts are published every year, read them if you want to. Why haven't we got a new ground? Well for one, we can't afford one without a commercial partner, something we don't seem able to attract. Maybe now we're not in debt and our finances look healthy our fortunes will change for the better. On the whole, poor questions by a poor self opinionated presenter. But, his job is to get people to rise to his provocation and spend their money on calls to his radio station and that's what he did.

10 Aug 2015 22:35:55
Del boy and Lennon out wide would allow mirallas to play the number 10 role! Which for me would be his best position

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - square pegs round holes for me smeg, just buy a decent No10..

10 Aug 2015 22:39:57
Someone will surely have to be offloaded if we're also getting three other incoming experienced players and we want to name all of the aged-over-21 players in the 25-man squad. We have 23 at the moment - 22 if Garbutt is omitted because he's on a season-long loan. I imagine the three players (centre-back, centre-forward and number-ten) that RM has said he wants to bring in as being aged over 21, as they surely wouldn't be experienced enough if aged under 21.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2015 20:32:42
Absolutely agree with Mirallas playing the no 10 role, he is the direct threat at the heart of opposition defence that would scare the crap out of em. With lennon and Delofeu out wide and baines coleman behind that would make us a real threat. Now whether Mr Martinez would drop his favourites to accommodate or even compromise his pass every where as long as it is in our own half attitude is any one's guess.

10 Aug 2015 18:00:35
Hi ed, please tell me the signing you say we are close to is not Evans. I'd rather give youth a chance than waste the money on him. If we did sign him we'd be a laughing stock. I wish I had kinder words to say about him but I haven't.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - names have not been mentioned darren, but its a well known fact that we have been courting him mate..mores the pity..

11 Aug 2015 00:52:14
Way do we want evens, their is no aspect of his game that brings anything to the side. Slow, weak, no vision, poor in the tackes, worse in the air, and always has a mistake in him, in fact, a perfect replacment for the guy he brought from wigan.

Just noticed in Saturday's Daily Mail football section a table of the top passes in the Premiership. Everton have two players in at 9&10, namely Barry and Jagielka. They are behind the likes of Fabregas, Y Toure, Cazorla, Matic, Hazard, Silva, Nzonzi and Henderson.
That speaks volumes of where Evertons passes take place ie in the defence.
Table for top scorers no one listed
Table for top dribblers. No one listed.
Enough said.

Hi Ed, please tell me you have some good news for us? I know there's still 3 weeks left of the transfer window but with our current injury list and lack of cutting edge on the field surely we need to be acting quickly (and I don't mean panic buying). TBH I'm not that bothered about missing out on Shaquiri - greedy and lazy, which we have in abundance but Charlie Adam, Van Dijk and either Nolito or Sergi Roberto would give all the blues a massive lift. Cheers TBJ

Ed we been linked to Christian Zapata of ac Milan u know if there is any truth to it. It's starting to get a little consering that other teams around us in the table or lower r strengthing and we still seem to be dragging r heels once again if we don't watch it we will be lucky to finish mid table

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nothing this end on zapata duke, but its getting desperation time and we do need to strengthen mate..

10 Aug 2015 15:03:49
Hi ed, are we actually looking at anyone? Anyone were ever linked with go to other clubs, something seriously wrong if we can't compete with Stoke for shaqiri.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we are apparently looking hard for some players Bman, and talk is of us being close on at least one, who that is will become clearer towards the weekend mate..

10 Aug 2015 10:56:58
Hello eds long time no see. Have been away abroad for sometime. What is driving me mad are the media saying that everton have to sell Stones to pay off the rebt for Lukaku. This is rubbish, the debt for Lukaku is been paid by the Mancs who are paying for Fellaini. Is this true eds.
Also eds will you let me know about any other transfers.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - nice to see you back emerald, im hearing that not all the lukaku fee has been paid but most of it has, we are all in limbo over transfers mate but im hoping to hear some solid news later in the week..

10 Aug 2015 15:28:34
Heard that we've made a last ditch offer to Shaqiri of 70k a week. Previously we apparently offered 55k but obviously Stoke are willing to pay the wages he seeks. if the money was equal, being completely unbiased i'd struggle to believe that he would choose Stoke over us.

Unsure if this is true but either way its too little too late in my eyes, poor from our club.

Ive seen a few posters with the suggestion 'where we actually in for him?' Payet, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri. these are all quality players and begs the question if we were not. why not. The talent pool available is becoming shallower. I hope we don't end up with Victor Moses.

Atteveld, we can only be humiliated if we were in for him and actually made a bid. I'm pretty confident he'd have chosen Everton over Stoke had he had the choice. He's a talented player , and I would have liked for us to get him, but, it looks as though he's not a priority in RM's eyes.
