Preston manager raving about Harrison Armstrong and Rotherham manager raving about Martin Sherif looking good for next season.

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Nov 2025 23:11:59
Might need them in January if a bunch of our players head off to AFCON.

12 Nov 2025 04:39:44
Loan contracts are normally for the season, compensation would have to be paid, that is if the Prem even allow it. Reasons why DM thought long and hard about Armstrong in particular.

12 Nov 2025 04:46:55
3 Aznou, Gueye and Ndiaye are off to Afcon. Ruhl and Mcneil will come in, £40 mill pfaffed against the wall for Dibling.

12 Nov 2025 09:06:59
Sheriff had a good review, based on potential. but has hardly ripped up league 1 has he. If we are to bring them back or integrate into the 1st team, players like Sheriff need to be tearing league one apart. Think has only played just over 300min all season.

I hope he comes good but that's not PL stats is it.
Armstrong is doing well, but to bring him back is madness unless injuries. Let him play every week. We have Gana, Garner, Rohl, Dewsbury-hall, Tim, Alcaraz, Dibbling.

12 Nov 2025 11:34:08
Watched Sheriff a few times, on tv not live. Reminds me of a poor man’s Lukaku. Big and strong but is a mile away from Premier level at the moment.
As for Armstrong, well he’s in the right place right now. Playing every week and not sitting on a bench watching the game. Think next season we will see the benefits of that.

12 Nov 2025 15:49:44
Exactly BMD, the Rotherham manager said some nice things but needs to work on touch and bringing others into play, so give him another couple loans to work on those then see how he fairs.

11 Nov 2025 09:14:53
Closing in on the transfer window. keep reading all kinds of rumours ranging from moyes asking for another statement signing to us not having much cash to spend. But what would be your ideal window?
Mine is:
- sell beto - appreciate the few goals he scored for us last year but let's be honest, he isn't good enough. Rumours Italian clubs maybe interested.
- sell mcneil - come on dyche do us a favour and take him
- bring in a stiker to replace beto (keep seeing richy rumours and apparently spurs feel like they can replace him so can let him go)
- bring in another striker (would be my statement signing if there is one) . Its a mistake for the club to have to rely on beto and Barry (he will need time) .
- bring in a right back (would love someone who can play lb as well but may be pushing it) . Although I do think garner can do the job.

Whats yours?

{Ed025's Note - yeah a Right back and a striker for me as well Cropper, jimmy can do a good job at right back but we need him in midfield mate..

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Nov 2025 09:54:06
Think a striker is what we’ll be in for.

However notoriously hard to recruit in January so not sure there’ll be any statement signings available in that department.

Richarlison rumours resurfacing but for me it’d be a no as never works returning to a previous club he’d also cost a few quid.

Toney been mentioned, brilliant goalscorer for Brentford but did drop off a cliff last 6 months for them before move to Saudi. The fact Saudi team willing to let him go speaks volumes.

Vlahovic been mentioned as he’s entering final 6 months of contract and juventus will want to make some money on him if doesn’t renew with them.

Think that’s the sort of player we’ll be in for one that’s nearing end of contract and will be available at a decent price as clubs will want to make some money rather than lose on a free in summer.

11 Nov 2025 11:13:38
Statement signing or not, as long as any forward we bring in is an improvement on what we currently have then I'm happy. With only one or two goals between them, that can't be too hard to replace. Definitely need a right back as well. Fill those two positions and we are looking a lot stronger.

11 Nov 2025 11:32:05
Striker it has to be.

11 Nov 2025 13:26:44
Don't think we do ED. Watched him as did you, hence my comment on our new Bainsie/peanut right side combo. He was RB one minute and running into midfield the next. O'Brien couldn't do that. I would rather gather our Shekals and go big on a striker.

{Ed025's Note - we all have our own views on that DMS and thats fine mate, the one thing we can agree on is that Jimmy has been excellent..

11 Nov 2025 15:03:38
I think he has been our player of the season Ed. You could put him in most positions and not worry about too much of a drop off, his IQ is that good.

I can't see us getting a Vlahovic GD. He won't come to a club that is not in Europe and he is on about 250k a week. With regards to people returning. Pienaar didn't do too bad. Rush, Shergingham, Klinsmann, Defoe, Gundogan, Ronaldo are all other examples. That being said, I don't want Richy back but wouldn't necessarily be against it. He won't come cheap, is soon to be 29 and don't feel that he has improved his game since being with us.

Not as established as Vlahovic and on nowhere near the wages. However, both still in Europe, I would try and target Nikola Krstovic from Atalanta or Cardoso from Leipzig. Both clubs like to make profits on players and trust their scouting system to find more than capable replacements. Neither would be cheap but would sort the no9 position out for us.

More reasonable and achievable targets would be Asllani at Hoffenheim or Panichelli at Strasbourg.

No point me mention Franco as I have already posted about him enough times now.

Left-field shout would be a seasoned Breel Embolo who we were linked with many moons ago in his younger years at Monchengladbach. Not an out an out goal scorer by any means but capable of goals and assists and is strong and pacey. Think he went to Rennes for just shy of 15 million in the summer, however is behind 2 strikers in a 3-5-2 formation.

{Ed025's Note - good informative post that BN...cheers..

11 Nov 2025 16:41:29
Pleasure Ed.

11 Nov 2025 17:20:58
Clearly lots still to do but a striker and a single striker to maximise this season. RBs LBs and even another striker and or CM can all wait to summer. The priority is goals.

11 Nov 2025 18:22:01
Need a striker more than any other position. That my friends is very apparent.

11 Nov 2025 20:09:45
Get a striker and we can limp through the rest of the season with the squad we have and do alright.

Fail to get a striker who knows where the net is and we’ll be bottom half and possibly hanging around just above relegation zone.

I think they will look to loan someone in. Any decent strikers laying second fiddle anywhere and needing game time with the World Cup on the horizon?

And before anyone says it, Toney ain’t coming to us. More chance of getting Tony the Tiger though I hear he’s grrrreeeaat!

12 Nov 2025 00:58:11
Garner slows us down too much in midfield, at right back that isn’t a problem

We need a new left back more than a right back this season.

12 Nov 2025 04:48:53
Zirkzee mentioned, not impressed, media hype hopefully.

12 Nov 2025 19:07:15
He made some good runs into midfield from RB, I think that is his position (RB)

11 Nov 2025 08:52:59
Not just Everton related but I've just watched through MOTD's from the weekend and I'm totally shocked at how some of the penalties these days are given for nothing!

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Nov 2025 13:27:23
I am shocked at most that are not given.

11 Nov 2025 16:47:26
Many are given against us but many aren't given for us. I guess that's equal?

11 Nov 2025 18:22:55
Nothing shocks me when talking about VAR.

Matchday 11 - Quick Round Up

11 Nov 2025 07:39:03
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Matchday 11 - Quick Round Up

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 10:30:55
Good win the weekend I was sceptical about the team selection but I got absolutely got proving wrong but nothing new but anyways back to my point ed 001 just 3 var things I want to pick you out on mate obviously the 1st one was vvd my opinion that goal should of stood just wondered what you're opinion was on that disallowed goal me second point when I watched everton vs Fulham we conceded a foul and it was a free kick but tarks an bassey where both grabbing eachother shirts 20 yards further an before Fulham took that free kick the referee for some bizarre reason gave Fulham another free kick where tarks committed that foul which I have never known you can give another free kick before the previous one is not taking also watched Brentford vs Newcastle and think burn commits a foul for the 1st penalty decision but var overturned Brentford decision which in my opinion was a penalty so just basically my real question whose at fault for these decisions is the var booth getting involved to much are the referees relaying on var before making a decision why is the linesman not getting involved as much IE he should of waved the flag after vvd goal which he didn't appreciate for foughts an opinions mate.

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you on the VVD goal, not that it would have mattered as Liverpool deserved nothing from that match, but it should have stood. However, it is subjective, so I could understand if it wasn't that the same ref had allowed a goal in almost the same circumstances previously.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised, as I thought when the ball was dead free kicks could not be awarded. I need to read through the laws of the game again, as I might well be wrong, but I thought they could card people but not give a free kick.

The Brentford one was weird, as the one they stood by was less of a penalty than the one they decided wasn't one. It is getting ridiculous as they are so inconsistent, when VAR was supposed to make it more consistent. Even though I make a point of quickly rereading the laws of the game before the start of each season, I am completely lost by at least one decision in each match I watch this season. It feels like the officials are poorly trained and do not know the laws of the game as well as they should, so they get decisions wrong. VAR should be there to step in when they make mistakes, but it seems to be even more prone to mistakes. They need to get specialist, independent VAR operators to run it, rather than these useless cretins who officiate the matches.}

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 12:30:47
Great feedback ed 001 yeah that everton free kick what I mentioned in the post was really baffling but my personal view the refereeing this season has been so poor you mention the rules I totally agree they need adjusting the hand ball rule also needs to be addressed woudnt know where to even start mate if am honest ?.

{Ed001's Note - they keep making things more complicated, when they should be trying to simplify it.}

10 Nov 2025 12:37:44
The biggest issue with VAR is that the people using it in this country have a very low standard of refereeing. It’s just simply poor and unless the officials are schooled better then this will not change. I have no issues with the system itself, just the quality of officiating on and off the pitch.

10 Nov 2025 20:05:37
Rules constantly changing. I remember when a goal kick had to be kicked out the 18yrd box, ball was in quarter circle on corners and at kick off you all had to be in your own halves and ball had to be knocked forward into opposition half of field at kick off. It's all too complicated now. Rules change every year and even players can't keep up.

That Fulham player who was on a yellow should of been red carded after pulling KDH back when attacking. There's no consistency in refereeing now. And var supposedly only there for clear and obvious errors seem to stick their noses in to every single aspect of the game.

10 Nov 2025 20:36:23
I don’t know why but that corner thing drives me mad. It’s more like a free kick now.

11 Nov 2025 18:40:34
Think he was deemed offside interfering with play which he clearly wasn't, there was another one where a player was called offside when he was clearly (clear and obvious) pulled offside.

11 Nov 2025 18:42:40
Better swing, I remember the days when we took the flag out and the linesman (assistant referee and all that danglers) put it back after the kick.

10 Nov 2025 10:20:54
Just a Quick Look back after 11 games
23-24 we were bottom on 3 points with a good of-4
24-25 we were 16th on 10 points with a good of-7
As of today we are 13th on 15 points with a good of -1
Steady progress in my opinion obviously we can get better once the goal situation is sorted one way or another excited for the January window.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 11:24:39
Notoriously bad time January, very very hard to achieve aims.

10 Nov 2025 12:28:36
Good post Big C definitely the, Team has improved and hope we can bring in a striker in Jan, but as dms says it will be very difficult mate.

10 Nov 2025 13:10:32
Surely it depends on who you have played so far that season?

10 Nov 2025 14:05:23
Don’t expect us to sign many, despite Moyes saying he thinks we’ll be active. Even covering those off to AFCON will be challenging. This is when Rohl, Dibling and others will need to step up. A couple of loans perhaps.

10 Nov 2025 19:56:49
Really BMD! , we’ve played city, the neighbours and spurs, out of those 11 games in the grand scheme of things it’s probably a fair comparison with those previous years . Sometimes on here I feel as though posters just look for an opposing view just for the sake of it.

Banter and differences of opinion are fair enough but your reply seems a little petty.
Maybe I’d like to thinki caught you on a bad day
UTFT.

10 Nov 2025 20:43:57
Not really. Of course it’s relevant who we’ve played. But hey if you don’t want people to comment then that’s fine. Oh and would that be the Spurs who are bloody awful? that’s how bad we were. So it’s Man City and Lpool both of which we lost?‍♂️.

11 Nov 2025 04:36:17
And everything was going so well in here ?.

11 Nov 2025 07:55:35
The big problem for me those two seasons is that we never looked like ever getting any points. The football was utter garbage. We were playing like we were inferior to every team and almost apologetic for being in a league we are founder members of.

Now we look different, we have more bite in midfield and are just one average striker away from challenging for top half comfortably.

It’s definitely positive Big C and like you I hope additions in January can further improve us.

11 Nov 2025 09:45:37
Hi BMD, I welcome comments it shows you’ve made either an interesting comment or you have an opinion that’s worthy of debate.
The facts I shared were merely to show that we’ve made an improvement and we are steadily improving. I am aware we lost to both Liverpool and City away and we were awful against a poor spurs. My point was despite those losses ;possibly expected again up for debate; was that it is a representive mix of teams that we’ve played this season and without doing a full comparison game by game it does show that we are making steady progress.

My response to you was that it seemed it was an off hand glib comment without substance, being negative for the sake of being negative. I await and welcome your response.
Have a lovely day everyone.

11 Nov 2025 10:12:55
Fair enough BigC but it wasn’t. Just my view on how things are not as straight forward as people think. Bit like this XG rubbish. ?.

11 Nov 2025 12:25:56
I agree XG is a nonsense it’s a bit like Bullseye with come and see what you could have won . The reflective view on how we are now and how we’re back then will really only show at the end of the season, should we carry on with this steady improvement it should see us somewhere around the 50 point mark at the end of the season, not brilliant but definitely an improvement on where we’ve been, maybe after 22 games it will give us a better perspective as to how or if we’re improving.

As an early indication it bodes well for the future. The impact of the January window, the bedding in of our summer signings and the recovery of players out injured plus AFCON will all play a part come the end of may. Until then I’m in a positive mood with where we are compared to where we were.
At the risk of being repetitive have a lovely day everyone UTFT.

10 Nov 2025 09:26:53
Watching the full game again. 2 things, Garner is our RB, (the Bainsie of the right flank Ndiaye the Peanut) , Barry starts, think he is going to come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 12:59:03
Yep Garner worth his weight in gold good player and Ndiaye excellent, as for Barry he had his best game for us last Sat hope he continues to improve.

{Ed025's Note - had his best game yes GB but its a very low bar he has set mate, i think it may be more in hope than expectation..

10 Nov 2025 14:06:33
Sorry to say, I tend to agree. Barry was better, but not as good or effective as others have put forward. Some promise though - Hope he continues to improve.

10 Nov 2025 20:10:27
Km not sure which prem team it is but pundits focused on the RB for them. He was a centre midfielder who was played at full back, but the formation changed when attacking for the full back to take up his natural position of centre midfield.

i'm sure it was a man city player bit may be wrong. But garner was outstanding for England u21 at RB but he's also very good passer and has bundles of energy for playing his CM role.

10 Nov 2025 22:56:36
Bit like that ex liverpool player now with madrid, who was he again ?.

10 Nov 2025 08:35:22
At a season high 22 place in the fantasy footy league.

Hows everyone else doing?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 12:31:23
That’s good Bunkbeds I had 24 points last week best ever for me mate.

10 Nov 2025 13:44:14
If your on about the Football rumours league BB I’m sitting pretty at the top ?.

10 Nov 2025 18:00:48
Yes mate the football rumours FF, Nice work dude, I did my Bench this week as well so added a few extra, even with Bournemouth getting hammered.

10 Nov 2025 18:02:08
I can see there is another Evertonian in the top 10.

10 Nov 2025 07:11:48
Just curious £40 mill for Dibling, never starts him and rarely brings him on. He must have been scouted.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Nov 2025 11:20:23
Also only 19yrs old and competing for a spot with Ndiaye and Dewsbury-hall. Sure he'll come good dude.

10 Nov 2025 12:32:37
Davey keep saying he is one for the future and will not get much game time this coming season mate.

10 Nov 2025 20:12:27
Dibling can come good. Alcaraz supposedly 'looks mustard' in training according to a reporter but hadn't been used for 2 games. Strange one that.

{Ed025's Note - im still unsure about Dibling Dentie, we paid what is a ridiculous amount for him considering we bought potential imo mate, now if we paid that sort of money for a young Ronaldo or Messi then i could see the logic, but Tyler is behind McNeil in the pecking order it seems so that tells me everything, of course i want him to come good and he is still very young but i cant help thinking this is just another one of our scouting networks cock ups which is part of a long list, but my god i hope im wrong..

09 Nov 2025 16:41:57
Just watched our match again and have to say I'm so glad we beat Fulham yesterday, they must be one of the most dirty Teams going and very lucky none of their players were shown a red card, also blatant cheating hope they go down playing like that, rant over roll on to our next match.

Agree6 Disagree2

09 Nov 2025 17:19:16
It's football GB, they were no dirtier than us or any other Team. Blatant cheating! Thisn't croquet with cucumber sandwiches and pimms on the lawn.

09 Nov 2025 17:57:21
Don’t need that at all ask anyone that’s had a leg broken.

09 Nov 2025 19:40:21
What tickles me is the way players (of all teams) hold their faces and then look at their hands to see if their bleeding ?.

09 Nov 2025 20:16:06
Like they have been hit by an express train.

09 Nov 2025 20:59:59
I have twice, football, collarbone rugby.

09 Nov 2025 21:06:11
All teams do it to an extent. Thought Sunderland were far worse to be honest.

09 Nov 2025 21:15:16
Yeah hit in the knee but clutch their face lol. Before a yellow or red card is issued, VAR should decide if the player is feigning. If so he gets the yellow or red too.

09 Nov 2025 21:57:48
Please, no more VAR. I was in favour initially, but for me is spoiling the whole live football experience. Can't celebrate a goal anymore because you just know if VAR is going to have a say.

{Ed025's Note - im with you TBT, i jumped out of my seat 5 times yesterday mate only to be thwarted for 3 of them..

09 Nov 2025 22:56:41
At least it gave you some needed exercise Ed.

{Ed025's Note - i certainly got plenty of that BR..

10 Nov 2025 09:21:30
To build on that GB 1975 just met my future wife and madly in love. Wanted me to come stay for the weekend. Played a game midweek, 2nd busted leg in 3 years. She sent her Mum for me. Picked me up in a mini, across London with my left leg hanging out of sliding window.

???. I am sure many of the old sods on here have many such anecdotes, f*****g lucky to still be here, living the life ?.

10 Nov 2025 09:50:38
When I was 14 I played for the local men’s pub team and left there defender on his arse. He told me do that again and he would break my effin leg. At half time my grandad ( my biggest fan) asked me what was wrong, when I told him he went over to the bloke and had a word.

Bloke didn’t come out for the second half, and I scored two more goals. ?.

08 Nov 2025 21:46:42
Hope that you had a great day Ed025? You must be our lucky charm, maybe we could have a whip around and get you a season ticket.

{Ed025's Note - yeah it was something else Mike, a bit overwhelming at first but it was top of my bucket list (before yesterday i only had a bucket), a bit knackered today though mate as i tried to cram it all in..

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Nov 2025 11:57:10
Great Ed mate, made up for you, get some rest you deserve it. It was a good day for me also, we won and I shot 79 at golf and I am almost 86. OK I play from the senior tees but the course is still almost 5000 yards.

Shooting under 80 at my age was on my bucket list also, now the next one is the new stadium visit.

{Ed025's Note - 79 is excellent at any age Mike but especially at 86 mate, i tip my hat to you, try and get to the stadium because i assure you you wont be disappointed..

09 Nov 2025 14:45:32
80's the new50/60's I reckon, 86 is brilliant, lost count of the men and women doing the same stuff they did as kids, long may it continue. 75 now always been fit, major op (8 hrs) last year, made me grumpy and frustrated ???.

Back to 1hr swim twice a week and 2 hr gym twice a week now, including pull ups, my bucket is to do a muscle up. Keep going BlueMike, I reckon we must have lived a sinful life ????.

09 Nov 2025 15:37:47
You too dmsblues, always tried to keep fit, bit of a passion really, know it can't last for ever but enjoy it while it lasts.

09 Nov 2025 16:10:45
We won't know ????.

09 Nov 2025 19:42:27
67 now play golf three times a week and am still hanging on to my seven handicap. Mind you I haven't won sod all for years.

09 Nov 2025 20:10:51
Keep fit lads whatever you do but most of all keep posting you guys make this a brilliant read.

09 Nov 2025 20:33:50
Congratulations BrassingtonBlue, seven handicap is excellent. I also play three times a week and my goal these days is to shoot my age. I moved a year ago to the senior tees when I was having trouble reaching the 150 yard mark from the regular tees.

Can still hit it straight though which helps. It's a great sport that you can continue to play at an advanced age, I'm hoping to be able to play well into my 90's, can't imagine having to sit at home watching the TV all the time like some old farts I know.

09 Nov 2025 21:15:49
Tried Golf gave up, absolute rubbish at it.

09 Nov 2025 14:28:53
Give him nought, up there scoffing his prawn butties ???.

{Ed025's Note - it was salt and pepper chicken in the basket actually DMS, im still doing the lottery and if i win we are all going to the game together mate, and GB will be flying over first class, thats also on my bucket list mate.. :)

09 Nov 2025 14:59:00
A day to remember ed 025. I remember my first day at Goodison and the thrill it gave me. Now looking forward to my visit to BMD.

{Ed025's Note - it took my breath away Nick, loved the old lady of course but this is another level mate and i was overwhelmed to be honest and tried to cram too much in, my legs were aching at the end but the pain was worth it so if you can try and get there even if its only for one visit..

09 Nov 2025 23:04:26
I’m hoping to take my lad to the Summer friendly as we won’t get time to get up from the south coast before then due to work, school and the simple fact it’s hard to get a two seats together for a reasonable price. Tempted to do a corporate hospitality thing and make a full day of it but it costs an arm and leg.

I’m also playing the lottery Ed but my last £3.40 win wouldn’t even buy a toffee doughnut!
