We're being linked with dragovic at centre back now. £9 million and apparently we've jumped ahead of Napoli in the race for his signature. Worrying that all the reports of centre backs are marked as stones replacements rather than distin and alcaraz replacements that we need!

BlueClarkey

1.) 29 Jul 2015 11:45:07
Thought he was solid against us last season for Kiev. Liked the look of him throughout the tournament in the games I saw. If we lose stones I will be gutted but Dragovic & Van Dijk are not bad replacements. Ashley Williams/Scott Dann type players are however bad replacements and should not be considered!

2.) 29 Jul 2015 11:57:46
It is likely that they are Distin and Alcaraz replacemennts, but the papers can't resist a go at Everton as per. Just because we look at centre halfs they assume that its because we have to sell one of our current centre halfs, lazy journalism.
As far as the John Stones rumours go, I doubt he's leaving, as he surely wouldn't of played any of these pre season games recently. He'd be off trying to sort out a move. I'll never believe anything out of the papers until its official on ssn

3.) 29 Jul 2015 12:27:26
Even if stones stays which I expect him to the papers will always say x y and z are stones replacement not taking into account that we need at least one cb anyway and that's before stones leaves if he does leave then we'll need 2 cbs Imo alcaraz doesn't need replacing as our team would of performed better with 10 men on the pitch

4.) 29 Jul 2015 14:03:11
We really shouldn't be responding to all the hype in the papers. The one about Lukaku and Depay is just hilarious. I will be surprised if we sell anybody, and if we do it will be because of an incredible record breaking offer that we couldn't refuse. Yes, Lukaku and Stones will eventually go, but we should have them both for at least one more year, when they will be worth more

5.) 29 Jul 2015 14:58:37
We defo need 1 centre back already. If stones were to go we would need two. I would like to think that Galloway/ browning or even Pennington could cover that 4th Centrẻ back slot.

6.) 30 Jul 2015 17:38:42
I think Clarkey, that Martinez has more in mind for Galloway and Browning than being 4th back up. These two boys are quality, especially Galloway. I think maybe he may be earmarked to partner Stones in the middle. That is of course if Stones stays. Either way I think he'll be a starter at CB by the start of the 2016-17 season.

7.) 31 Jul 2015 20:10:50
agree mike two quality players both ready to help if needed imo could see more of dowell and mcaleny also dowell looked class the other night love to see more of him

16 Jul 2015 19:01:43
Jonny Evans for £7M apparently

BlueClarkey

1.) 16 Jul 2015 19:21:25
Hope not

2.) 16 Jul 2015 19:32:43
I hope it's a pay when u play deal as he injured most of the time.

3.) 16 Jul 2015 20:25:59
hope he is going to pay us.if this rumour is true, its shows lack of ambition from the club :-(

4.) 16 Jul 2015 20:45:59
If we have £7m for Evans would we not do better offering that to Celtic for van dijk? That's Virgil not Dick ☺️

5.) 16 Jul 2015 23:11:49
Dik Van Dijk would be preferable to Evans. Just can't see us paying that for a bench warmer.

03 Jul 2015 23:02:26
Any truth in the rumours about Gamboa from west brom? Seems a weird one as he barely played for west brom last year. Would like a back up right back though, if Coleman got injured for the year we would be stuffed.

BlueClarkey

{Ed025's Note - i cant see it clarkey, surely are sights are a bit higher than that mate..

1.) 04 Jul 2015 08:14:55
I'd hope so too just a bit of an odd one to be linked with so thought it might have something in it

2.) 04 Jul 2015 16:17:37
I'd definitely prefer Byram or Odubayo. Both have been linked and both look promising.

3.) 04 Jul 2015 18:17:04
Who do you realistically think we will sign and sell? what's happening with Jimmy Macs contract and if Lukaku or Mirallas does go then who do you reckon we will replace them with?

{Ed025's Note - if i could answer all them joe i would have to be the manager mate, but i think lukaku will stay and mirallas is 50/50..

04 Sep 2014 20:48:34
Does anyone know if a free transfer were to sign now, who was not homegrown ie older than 21 and foreign, would they be allowed to be added to the squad list? Thanks in advance

BlueClarkey

{Ed025's Note - someone would have to be dropped i believe clarkey..

1.) Ed025: For the Premier League, we've named just 23 aged-over-21 players and, as these include the required minimum of 8 homegrown players, we could bring two free agents into the squad in addition to the current 15 non-homegrown players thus making the squad up to the permitted 25.
However, for the Europa League - and I've yet to see our squad list for that even though it should have bee submitted to UEFA a couple of days ago - there are a couple of quirks.
Firstly, the minimum of 8 homegrown (UEFA calls them locally-trained) players must contain a minimum of 4 'club-trained' players. Since Duffy left, we only have 3: Hibbert, Osman and McAleny. So, that reduces the squad to a maximum of 24. Our other 5 homegrown (locally-trained) players are 'association-trained': Baines, Jagielka, McCarthy, Barry and Gibson. Assuming all 8 locally-trained players are included, that leaves places for 16 non-homegrown players, which is 1 more than the 15 we have - therefore giving us just 1 spare place.
However, the second quirk is that any player who's under 21 BUT who's not been with us for two years (such us Lukaku, Stones, Stanek, Galloway, Henen, etc.) has to be included in the aged-over-21 squad of 25 in order to be eligible for the Europa Cup. So, for Stones and Lukaku to both play in the Europa League, one of the other players has to be omitted. My understanding is that we can't add to the Europa League squad - even free agents - until after the group stage.
I'm intrigued as to who's been omitted in order to accommodate Lukaku and Stones - both of whom I'm sure will be included in the Europa League squad.
Simples - not! :-)

{Ed025's Note - good info as usual sid...cheers mate..

2.) Great Sid, cheers!

3.) Why? You expecting a phone call BlueClarkey?

4.) So, the UEFA website is now showing our squad. In their regulations, they call this squad our List "A".
Our List "A" contains 22 of the same 23 players as our Premier League squad - Junior is omitted from the Europa League squad. We can only name 24 players in our List "A" because we only have 3 "club-trained" players - as I explained in my earlier post.
Lukaku and Stones are included in our List "A" because of the rules about under-21 players that I also outlined in my earlier post.
All other under-21 players who've been with us for more than two years - that's Barkley, Browning, Garbutt, Long, etc., - will be on what UEFA call our List "B". However, recent (i.e. less than two years) under-21 additions, like Henen, Galloway, Stanek, etc., won't be eligible as part of List "B" for us in the Europa League yet. They'd have to be in List "A" until they've been with us for two years.

5.) Always available svenny, hope bobbys been scouting the park!

6.) Hahha

7.) Out of interest. can Jags be included in Cowpats first list (Hibbert, Osman, McAleny)as he was with the Everton youth set up before he moved on? Does his time in his early spell at Everton count?

8.) Original AJ: nice try ;-) but unfortunately not, as he didn't spend enough time with us between the required ages.
On the same theme, if we'd brought back Rodwell from ManCity, then he might well have been considered to be a 'club-trained' player for us, but I'd have to check that. For ManCity - and now for Sunderland - Rodwell is an 'association-trained' player, which is just like Jagielka is for us.

Apparently everton in talks to sign £1.2 million rated Gambian striker barrow from Sweden

BlueClarkey

{Ed025's Note - oh wheelie.. :)

1.) I think that's his agent trying to wheel him out to a Prem team!

Have seen a few links to behrahino. Anyone think he could be a good signing at the right price?

BlueClarkey

1.) 28 Dec 2016 11:15:20
Good player on his day but I worry about his attitude. Maybe Koeman would knock some sense into the lad.

2.) 28 Dec 2016 11:45:32
I wouldn't touch berahino with a 10 foot barge pole. massively bad attitude.
Although if he did sign and started playing up. I'm sure dunc could have a quiet word.

3.) 28 Dec 2016 11:49:22
Really good player. He just got peed off that wba refused to sell him when bids came in. He just needs a fresh start imo.

4.) 28 Dec 2016 12:20:30
Whilst his attitude has been poor and the club acted naively over his transfer I think without the whole story it's very difficult to see why it escalated to the pantomime that it turned out to be. I don't blame the lad for wanting a bigger club move. But looking at the way the club acted by refusing his transfer then having a demotivated player who is losing transfer value rapidly, I wonder if they should have just swallowed their pride and let him go.

Now they will either lose him for nothing or very little value and not really had the player in the right frame of mind throughout it all.

Let it be said though that when he is in the groove he's quite a talent.

As EFCfanatic said. Let him have a spell with Dunc to see if there's anything the club would like him to work on. 😉.

5.) 28 Dec 2016 15:15:05
I think he wanted to move but wasn't granted the move, I think that has effected him over the past season, I think a move would be good for him, he was a very good player before the circus came to town, I'd give him the chance and he scores goals, remember if he can score 20 goals for WBA who play very defensive style, what he might do put into a team with a bit more attack minded, and still very young, he has time on his side.

6.) 28 Dec 2016 15:29:59
Free transfer in the summer. I wouldn't want to spend any money on him. His fitness is way off so wouldn't be much use this season.

7.) 28 Dec 2016 19:55:38
Agree Koeman will want players coming in January to make an immediate impact I. E. ready for the first Team. He won't want the likes of Berahino to come in and spend the next 5 months getting him fit for his summer holidays.

8.) 29 Dec 2016 11:43:18
has not really contributed to WBA for a couple of seasons and does not make their starting eleven.
Has a proven attitude problem, and think he needs to knuckle down and prove he can still do it before I would take a punt!

06 Aug 2015 12:06:56
Apparently McCarthy and mirallas to be signing contract extensions soon. Would be very good to keep 2 important players on board

BlueClarkey

1.) 06 Aug 2015 12:47:30
Thats as long as Mirallas plays to his potential BC, a pay bump may motivate the guy until his next dummy out the pram episode

2.) 06 Aug 2015 13:00:13
Dodgy attitude at times but undoubtedly one of our better players. We would be a worse team without him and it will also reduce the chance of us losing him on a free in a couple of years.

14 Jul 2015 21:58:34
Seen an interview with cleverly and he said Martinez wants him to score 5-10 goals this year. Also said he was going to play him further up the pitch. Targeting that number of goals suggests he is going to play lots of games! Please don't tell me he is Robertos answer to the no 10 role after missing out on payet.

BlueClarkey

1.) 15 Jul 2015 01:25:15
He will never score that, but should not be written off the way we all are, also know may sound stupid everyone keeps mentioning no 10 what bout Barkley naismith mirallas delefeou?I have also stupidly thought over years our best player for role is pienaar, he is creative and so is osman

2.) 15 Jul 2015 09:00:27
With Martinez mentioning a European type no 10 and saying that nobody from England could fulfil that role I'm just hoping that he hasn't backtracked. Delboy and Kev are both wingers and as industrious as naisy is he clearly hasn't got the same creativity of a payet for example.

14 Jul 2015 07:30:19
Sergi Roberto is being linked with a season long loan I have seen. Don't know much about him but would he be the player to fill the No. 10 role? As a barca player you would think he would have a bit more creativity something that was missing from almost everyone but gibbo last year.

BlueClarkey

1.) 14 Jul 2015 10:42:12
to be honest I see as more of holding midfield player

2.) 14 Jul 2015 21:56:17
Ok cheers Bretto. Don't think we need yet another cdm to be honest!

10 Jul 2015 16:42:52
Mcgeady out of the squad vs Swindon with a hamstring injury, maybe I'm just being optimistic but could that mean he is off?

BlueClarkey

1.) 10 Jul 2015 17:55:19
fingers, toes and everything crossed!

Would love us to sign song, think he would be an improvement on Barry in the DM position and would allow more rotation to keep everyone fit.

As much as I loved naisy many people seem to be sad to see him go, as am I however just as many people have said previously that he was not at the level required. I know he works and works and is a great player to have around the squad however he is never going to be a starter for us in the long term and for us to get up to £10M for him bearing in mind that he's nearing 30 and that we ourselves have only ever bought about 5 players for more than that sum it seems a good deal for the club and the player alike. Yes I'll be sad to see him go but long term I don't see it being a massive loss to us. Many have said they'd have rather got shot of Kone, I'd probably agree on ability basis but we'd have never got anywhere near £5M for him let alone 8.5 rising to 10 if Norwich stay up. Top bloke, wish you well Naisy!

Think of all the players named as future stars who fail, the pressure put on some of these young lads before they've even kicked a ball in the first team is crazy
