Just got back from the game, don't get up to many these days living down south but I must say the highlight of my day was meeting Speedo Mick.

Must have been a rubbish day if that was your highlight!

Worrying when manager keeps talking about unrealistic expectations, and seems in awe of other teams.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

the blame for yesterday's defeat falls directly on Koemans feet poor tactics and poor team selection how Williams and Martina get picked is baffling.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that bluey..

09 Sep 2017 20:31:55
What I witnessed today was a system that does not suit the players on the field, Spurs play with wingbacks yet we had no width and everytime they spread the ball they had acres of space. We played with 2 sitting midfielder in Schneiderlein and Gana and yet when Spurs went through the middle again they had acres of space, how and why? Schneiderlein has been poor so far and looks like he is still on holiday, do we really need him and Gana on the field if its not protecting the back line?
I believe Ronald is trying to accommodate players and not actually selecting an 11 and a system to counter the oppositions system. We had no urgency in attack today and Martina although he takes stick was whipping decent balls in and I feel sorry for him because our system left him exposed with no support when defending.
I ain't the manager but I would have to have went with a flat 4 in midfield with Lookman and Vlasic/ Mirrallas out wide pressing Spurs fullbacks who may I add ain't blessed with pace, something we didn't expose at all.
Sandro ain't ready to be a starter, Klassen and Sigs can't both start as it means one of them is out of position and Schneids needs to be dropped until he gets up to pace .
I don't mean to be negative as I know its a transition, the blame for today lies solely at the managers door for a poor system which left players exposed and therefore used as scapegoats.
Let's get some width please Ronald, Lookman and Vlasic need a run in the side, let's inject some pace into this side please, then maybe the backward and sideways Matinezesque play will stop.

Spot on that bluegray.

I also felt sorry for Martina as just like under Martinez one of our full backs was left badly exposed I can't remember how many times I looked over at martina and Davies was just hugging the line waiting for a ball to be shipped out to him but his big problem is Martina can't actually defend.

10 Sep 2017 11:05:33
I have said this before why do we play a back four and two defensive midfielders at home, we do not set up to attack but seem to want to only play on the counter?

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Sep 2017 12:43:58
Agree with most of that. I still believe Koeman is better than our last one but also believe he has fallen into the trap of having bought these players then he must play them. With what we have at the moment then imo it has to be a
back 3 of Keane, Holgate and Jags, with Martina (Coleman) , Baines as WB. Gueye, Davis, then Mirralas Siguurdson Rooney and Sandro, Calvert up top.

Ok, maybe we could of been a little bit better today, but let's look on the bright side we did not lose 5 - 0 at city like some other sides have.

We have 6 games coming up in a very short period of time and it only takes a couple of wins back to back to instill the confidence we are so desperately lacking. Today we had a team of players still trying to get used to where they should be and trying to learn how their team mates prefer to play.

Contrary to popular belief we do not have any bad players, we have a team with plenty of potential and it's only a matter of time before we see it.

By the time we beat Burnley that will be our 4th win on the bounce preceded by a Draw with Utd and a win against Atlanata. See things are already starting to feel better.

Lets just relax and get behind the team, we now have to go out and perform to prove a point.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

09 Sep 2017 19:28:45
No the team needs to go out and make us proud which is not what they did today. Stoke showed how to play United, attack them.

09 Sep 2017 19:50:57
One shot on target today at home, zero shots on target v Chelsea almost 2 weeks ago. Says it all really. Can't blame Europa league for this capitulation at home. If our defence goes missing our attack certainly doesn't look like it is capable of taking up the slack, not yet anyway. More work on the training ground Mr Koeman, these are mostly players you bought in so show us why.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 19:08:06
Difficult to take any positives from today really. Although, I will say that we were well and truly beaten by a much better side. I'm hoping that the signings are just needing the time to adjust and not bad buys. Do I sound like I'm desperately trying to see the glass as half full 😂.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

09 Sep 2017 19:31:28
Absolutely right. Impossible to take any positive today. Back 4 looked like amateurs and the creativity was boring. I'm just hoping it's because we've been playing top 4 therefore the class is different. Top 10 finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 19:31:52
PLB hopefully you are right, I have been criticised on here recently for being a bit to negative in my posts specifically around our transfer window, however one thing is for sure is that the new players will need time to play together in order to gel and therefore inevitably get better as a team, however unless we start an illegal doping programme there is no ammount of time that is going to make any of our players faster. I firmly believe this is the most important aspect of our game that is failing and will do unless we just become defensive focussed and try get goals from set pieces / dead ball situations which would be a discrace. Koeman will soon find himself on borrowed time, I quote Moshiri on SSN "this is 80% effectively Ronald squad"!

09 Sep 2017 19:02:41
Does anyone have any really really fat mates? I mean world record big, because I'd think they would be a free agent and anyone could sign them outside the transfer window.
We could sign him and play him at right back until Coleman is fit, if he just stood still he would be harder to get round than CuCo the clown.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

09 Sep 2017 19:36:12
As a defender I whole heartedly agree after today's performance, however the lad needs time and will get better although i still don't think better than JonJoe who isn't getting a look in. I don't blame Cuco one iota, I blame the person who purchased him having previously manger him and the diabolical system he played the rest of the formation of the team in today. I cannot wait to see how he answers the questions from the press as had that had been Martinez at home we would have the lynch mod out for him! Said it one and I will say it again.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Sep 2017 22:32:14
Totaly agree
Jon jo would make a Big impact, but would also raise questions as to why he was not even considered in the first place, but i'm sure we will be told he was,
, he is up there at the top in imo and should be given some time to prove it, hope those, who in the know start pulling the strings on this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 18:22:27
so. what's changed? The one team we are trying to emulate just took us apart on our own turf! I am however taking a positive from today and that is that Spurs found themselves in the same situation following the sale of Gareth Bale. loss of star player and multitude of new signings. we will come good. I have to believe!

Good post Nev. It will be interesting to see which players last. Imo Klassen will be gone in less than 2 seasons. Sandro is a bit of a luxury player (without the luxury in his case) . Keane, Siggurdson and particularly Pickford were great signings for you.

As for Rooney, i have strong opinions on drink drivers i'm disgusted you even picked him today.

You know I have a huge soft spot for the toffees and I hope you go on and have a great season boys and you are definitely a club on the up.

Although today was poor, I think RK will be smarting too, and he will learn from today's performance. The encouraging thing for me is that for 1st half there did not seem to be a great deal to separate the two sides ( at least that's how it looked from my family enclosure seat) . Neither side looked great but after the second goal spurs held a firm grip. back to my original point. it looked even Steven until 2-0. Not singling out individual performances, I think there is quality in the squad, and RK needs to find the winning formula. I actually think it needs jags involved and not trying to squash all midfielders into the same starting 11. Chins up for next game!

From where I sit Ellis. which is low down in family enclosure. I'd say that before the first goal. it looked like a scrappy game and neither team stood out. although I would say we were out muscled by your back 4.but really spurs never did anything special. After the first goal u improved. and then after the second goal that was it. but u were not that impressive from my seat until then. What I would say about Everton is that klaasen looked light weight, sigurdson on left wing was a waste, and we had no real creative threat or pace in our side to threaten u. but as I said first half. wasn't that great from either side. second half different story. spurs dominant. my original post wasn't about how good spurs were. about my assessment of Everton's squad. Bare in mind. after I've seen MoTD. I'll have afresh perspective. And my change my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 19:54:33
Fair enough. From where i was watching and it was pretty even until about 20mins gone and then spurs were totally dominant. Was a lucky first goal but we should of been ahead by then anyway. What i noticed about you was your lack of pace which is still a weakness of spurs in the attacking end of our team. Could take a while for you to get used to playing without Lukaku aswell.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 20:13:54
Ellis differences aside. absolutely spot on on lack of pace. coupled with a lack of power (now lukaku gone) Everton are going to have to look at how we can start to dominate games. lots of negatives right now but I think there is talent in the squad, and we'll get there. Njoy season!

I was really critised on here other week with my assessment for this season .
Before you all start shouting we only played 4 inc 3 top teams I expected some loses BUT IT IS THE MANNER IN WHICH WE HAVE LOST THESE GAMES and also the team selections.

I guess RK statement before the game about no striker coming in and it was going to be difficult was getting his excuses in before people like me came on .

You will all say I am wrong but I have been going to Goodison since 58 and I am 100% convinced we will not be in the top 7 so we will be worse off than last year .
I base this on no Lukaku and being in Europa and a manager who does not seem to be creating harmony in the camp .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 15:48:20
Davy Klassen is not good enough. Really poor signing. So many opportunities to break or build an attack breakdown because of him. Until their 2nd thought we did ok against a better side. Since the 2nd we have collapsed.

Going to take more than a couple of beers after this. We may have made many signings but watching this I just do not see the quality. We bought and strengthened the wrong type for the wrong positions (excepting Goalkeeper) .

Us Spurs fans had to deal with the frustration for a while of not winning games after a big outlay on players. Hopefully you back your manager and it'll come good! Cheers for the 3 points though! We need them as we have a tough time back at Wembley.

09 Sep 2017 17:13:55
Hopefully Ryan some of our supporters will understand like you that it takes time for a massive influx of players to gel together.

They were like this last season when Koeman first came in and wanted him sacked after 10 games only for the team to start gelling from Xmas onwards.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Sep 2017 17:38:22
Sacking managers justs means you start over again, komeman got it wrong today. Should of started with Lewin as you seemed to be having more luck with him. Our first 11 has had 2/ 3 years to gel. It takes time but you seem to have decent enough players to make it work!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right, what goes up, must come down.}

09 Sep 2017 19:00:23
Lots of clubs looked at Klassen including Tottenham. I know that our scouts thought he would be too slow and lightweight for the Premiership.

09 Sep 2017 19:14:01
Sorry Svenny but it's way too soon to be coming out with statements like that the prem is a dam sight harder than the Dutch league you won't see the best of him or Sandro until after xmas maybe even next season
The problem as I see it is we've got 2 holding midfielders and everyone in front of them is a number 10 no real width or number 9 the shape is all wrong.
