Surprise Surprise. One boring International weekend, Jelavic, Baines and now Fellaini all being talked about in the media. They have nothing better to do. I take no notice of them and their hot air. Fellaini  less than a month ago, helped get his friend Kevin Mirallas to the club. The 3 players in question would most likely command a combined transfer fee of at least £70m. I repeat, that's £70m for 3 of our players. If we ever lose them, we move on. We buy again, only this time, we have big big money at our disposal. Then we can buy 4,5,6 quality players for honest transfer fees. Our standard line is we are prepared to sell, but very expensive to buy off. This will never change, so long as our players are on long term contracts, we have no fears. The fees will keep going up for our players but given our quality scouting network we will deal at around the £3-10m on players coming in. enjoy them whilst they are here, and then look forward to watching their replacements flourish when they are gone for their inflated transfer fees. A few interesting deals happened this summer:

Rasmus Elm to CSKA £6m...Miguel Veloso to D Kiev £8m
Niko Kranjaer to D Kiev £6.5...Kim Kallstrom to Spartak £3m
Milan Badelj to Hamburg £4m...Greg V D Wiel to PSG £6m
Bas Dost to W Bremen £8m...Eljero Elia to W Bremen £5.5m
Frederico Balzaretti to Roma £4.5m...Borja Valero to Fiorentina £7m
Michael Krohn Delji to Celta £1m...Fernando Gago to Valencia £3.5mj
Sergio Canales to Valenica £7m...Kevin Mirallas to Everton for £5.5m??

The point is, we could afford at least 4 of this kind of player with the sort of money we are talking for say, Fellaini. Not necessarily the players mentioned above, but that's the sort of list the manager could work on. But right now, our players are OUR players. we have started well. We should never be getting down, things are good right now and whatever happens, Moyes calls the shots and he will deal with it. We should just make sure we create an epic atmosphere for Newcastle and ensure nothing said these last few days affects how we greet a certain talked about player when he steps on that pitch. Big match, under lights, We can have 9 points on the board after 4 games.

direct from fellaini fb page:

"Guys,

I was very surpised to read in some newspapers that I will leave Everton very soon and perhaps next January.
Let me remind you that I am very happy in Liverpool and our start of the championship was good. Kevin Mirallas and some other good players joined us to make a better squad in order to realize a good championship in the line of the end of the last one.
So with Everton, I am ready to play all the season and to reach our goals of this season. However, my only concern for the moment is of course our (Red Devils) Tuesday's game against Croatia.
Whether you're in Belgium or England, thank you from my heart for your support …

Marouane"

I've been reading some posts and replies form other people and it's made me think. Before I start, I'm going to say a little and I will say more in time to come when we get more info. I'll judge Felli when we know the facts.

Basically, one person said when he (Felli) is in Belgium his dad gets his way in terms of what his son says, but when he's here it's life as normal. Last time he linked up with his country for an international he said that if a 'big club' comes in for him he will go. Now if Felli said that then he'd of forced a move because we obviously wasn't, and by the latest interview sill aren't, a 'big club'.

Now there's only one way to go from here - wait! Moyes will know about this interview and will subsequently do two things. 1) talk to Felli and if it's true he will take action, like he did in the past Jo and Drenthe, to name a few. Those were different issues but if he doesn't want to play for us, Moyes won't be treat like a mug. And 2) Moyes will find out if it's BS and that will be the end of it.

I don't know what else to say apart from wait 'til you know more facts before you judge either party, unless you know what goes on behind the scenes.

And I don't know if I'm right or not Ed, but, depending on what is written into his contract, wouldn't it be a breach of contract for Felli to say something like that as, by law (well, contract laws), he is contracted to us for now?

I will be gutted to see Felly leave. But if he does go then fine. £30 mill please.

It's a football fact that we will lose our players to other clubs. As long as we trade with agents we will experience this dark side of football. And of course when we replace our players we put our woes on the clubs fans by causing their prized assets to join us. It's football, love it or hate it.

Paper talk should be taken with a 'pinch of salt'.
However, the key point is if a player genuinely doesn't want to play for our great club let him go with the understanding that DM will always look after the Club's interests.
Recent history of people leaving EFC, believing they can further their career, is testament to misguided thinking or advice.

Fellow blues just ignore this Felliani tripe doing the rounds, the press/ssn have nothing else to report so manipulate things to get reactions, if Felli wanted a move he would have made waves two months ago. If this is true then we will get a great season out of him and sell for top dollar and move on

IMHO, until Everton are regular Champions League participants - perhaps with the Europa League being a stepping stone for a year or two - we won't attract and, more importantly, retain top drawer players. I've no doubt that the mid-80s European ban - followed by Agent Johnson - put our club way behind the other clubs financially and now we're in a Catch-22 situation: can't afford a modern stadium without external investment, but can't attract investment without the sort of income that would be generated by an existing modern stadium. We can't attract the top players without Champions League football, but won't qualify for - and couldn't compete in - the Champions League without top players. I'm all for being confident about our prospects, but be realistic about the depth of our squad. Having said all that...once a blue, always a blue.

Whatever the facts about the "this is my last season" Fellaini comments, I've no doubt that he signed the new contract with the understanding that DM/BK would let him leave for a Champions League club if Everton don't qualify themselves. In return, a long contract would mean a big fee when he leaves, as he wouldn't be near the end of said contract. Even the most successful clubs have their top players leave, so why should we be any different. If Ross Barkley progresses and we had £30 million plus for Fellaini would that be so bad in the great scheme of things?

I posted after deadline day to say, who knows what happens behind the scenes and that baines and fellaini looked unsettled against west brom, that may or may not have been true but if it was one thing is for sure its no good trying to keep players if they want to go. I,M sure moyes will be saying any transfer will be on evertons terms and they will have to give 100% in the mean time. I personally would love to see what moyes would do with the 50million he could raise for 2 of the most sort after players in the premiership and they have become so because of moyes. thgfest

I'm not going to comment on this Felli situation. Mainly because this could be mis-translation, etc. And I don't want to say anything on either side until we get more info.

Anyway Ed, say it is true and we decide to cash in on him either in January or next summer, what would be the price you'd estimate we would get? I mean all things considered, we bought him for £15m and he's a far better player now, so you'd be estimating more than £15m-£20m, but then you take into consideration he still has 4+ years left, so surely that must bung on a fair amount to.

Keith EFC. {Ed025's Note - I would think in the 25- 30m bracket keith..

fellaini wants to leave in the next transfer window. what the f**k? im so gutted by this news. my guess is to one of the big clubs, chelsea, man city, man utd, arsenal or spurs. if spurs were gonna pay 22 million for moutinho then this is the figure we can command for fellaini.
im certain moyes will have replacements in mind, hes a clever guy who alwys has a plan. the only advantage to felli coming out and saying this is that moyes has plenty of time to prepare.
Now we will get numerous rumours about who we will sign but can everyone please not start listing mediocre players like wolves, wigan and stoke rejects. expect someone big (ish). i think it will be a quality signing, a house hold name. who is out there that fits into our wage structure (around £75,000 a week)

"I begin now to my fifth season at Everton," Fellaini told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. "This will be one of my last. I've seen everything. In January or at the end of the season I would look for another club or league."

No doubt it we will be fobbed off as a 'lost in translation' case but these rumours don't go away. If Felli does go we need to get the best possible price. We have seen what a good job Moyes can do with a bit of cash.

Everton have to sell our better players to make signings, most clubs are the same. There are very few cubs in Europe who can spend the kind of money that we need to get to the next level.

Hey Ed's what do you make of this supposed quote from Fellaini? I have a feeling it could all be part of a master plan, there were plenty of rumours before he signed his new contract. Did he genuinely want to stay, was he promised things that haven't happened or was there an agreement were we would let him go if he resigns just to get top money for him? Either way I hate how professional footballers talk do openly to the press! If he doesn't want to be at our club then he doesnt deserve to be at our club! I think we should demand a ridiculous fee and cash in, no player is bigger than Everton football club. I've said it before and I'll say it again great players have came and gone but Everton has and will always be a great club!

Here we go again. According to The People "Arsenal could rekindle an interest in Everton left-back Leighton Baines during the January transfer window."

Do they ever stop? I suppose the papers will soon start with the Caught Offside rumour about Jelavic suggesting that "a £20m double raid will be made by Arsenal for Everton pair Leighton Baines and Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic."

Anyway, let's make this the last post about Baines for now.

Just seen fellainies quote saying he is in his 5th year and wants to go, I hope he has been misquoted just when things are looking promising something like that happens. I am sure moyes wont be impressed because he may have kept rodwell and sold fellaini as I say hope its been taken out of context but surely professional footballers should be wise by now and not go saying things to the press heitinga has done it in the past. And so what if fellaini been for 5 yrs its called loyalty and if thats how he feels his timing is totally wrong.

Then we can all get back to being positive again and get the other belgium lad either through appeal or get it in place for January.
