England related.but Baines, Jags and Stones are involved.does anyone give us a chance of winning even one game over there? I can see maybe a couple of goalless draws and a defeat. Anyone accuses me of being negative probably needs psychiatric treatment!

I think England will draw against or get beat against Italy but will beat uraguay and Costa Rica and probably finish second in the group!

Agree0 Disagree0

I will throw my hat in the ring Degsy, I can see England winning at least one game. Either against Italy, Costa Rica or both. The defence looks good at times although Johnson wasted so many chances breaking out in the last game but hopefully things will improve for him. I will admit they will have to improve on finishing but it shouldn't take much. Barkley could do with considering an earlier pass sometimes but that's just my opinion.

As for Stones. I haven't heard he is playing but in my opinion he could fit in well if he is and I believe assist more in bringing the ball out and on to attack.

I think we could do pretty well. We are horrific at the back at times so that will no doubt cost us but going forward this is the best England team we've had for years and we will cause problems for any defence. Provided Welbeck doesn't play anyway

Sones and Flanagan are not part of the final 23 so won't play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Italy are traditional slow starters so I'm happy to be playing them first

Agree0 Disagree0

Play 3 lose 3 ( or draw 2 lose 1) all our players home safe and sound hopefully no injuries and more importantly not burnt out

tbh honest I think we will do ok, I think we will surprise a few people, I don't think we will lose a game in the group 2 wins and a draw I think, it all depends on if manager has balls or trys to plays safe. I think quarters, with some good luck semi's. just my opinion tho

Papers today linking us with Samuel eto'o who to clarify is 33 not 40. Though he does not immediately fit our playing style as a striker, he seems a better version of Naismith who I like and depending on wages could be feesible. Somehow though I doubt his will happen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It says he is only 33 on Twitter does it?}

Better than Naismith? I wouldn't say so and if he is 33 (but according to Mourinho it could be closer to 43) he is too old. What would his wages be? I hope this is another example of lazy journalism because there is better out there we can get.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be another ibrahim Bakayoko incident, there were rumours he was more like 35 than mid 20's when he signed.

I see Lukaku is again saying he is staying at Chelsea. He is, he isn't, he is again. oh no he isn't. I wish the guy would make his effin mind up. He's more indecisive than my missus buying some clothes!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And the worrying thing for me is Martinez is hoping he comes to us, I say just forget him now and try get Bony we need a prolific goal scorer for next year Lukaku is doing my nut in, and the same goes for Barry what is the hold up with him he either wants to play for us or not.Really need to move on from these players now they don't seem to want to play for us let's bin them now and move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a Chelsea so whether he wants to play for us or not isn't really up to him I don't see the point of even bringing it up unless Chelsea are looking to sell

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't worry about what is in the papers Stef. With Everton we never know who we are signing until they have signed. Just about every signing under Kenwrights leadership has been a complete surprise to the fans. I can't think of one that we knew about until it happened? Any suggestions?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you on that degs..

Mcgeady I knew he signing and posted it 4 months before he did, also Naismith was well known, and then we had Mcarthy so not all suprises Degs but I understand what your saying in a way.

Here is a wind up for all of you. I see that people talk about "squad" players being signed. I assume that means we already know that they are not good enough to get in the team. In which case why are we looking to sign them? The likes of Johnson and Davies are being mentioned as signings as squad players? My humble opinion is that the phrase "squad player" actually seems to mean a crap/not good enough player! Surely we have sufficient "squad" players already. ie players who are coming to the end of their careers.eg Osman/Pienaar/Alcaraz/Hibbert/Kone etc. Surely we should be looking to sign young players capable to immediately go ahead of any of the above in their respective positions? Raiding the lower leagues and foreign leagues for good young players capable of challenging the 1st team for a place. Even using our own youth squads. My feelings are that we need to be careful not to fill our squad with average older players who do not bring anything different to what we already have. Even Distin might struggle this season with Stones and Jags? Youth is the way forwards now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree here buying players for numbers depth etc isn't how you progress you either buy players to go straight in the first 11 or the potential to do so. That way you gain depth but more importantly quality depth

Degsy, I agree. I would take 1 or 2 big signings with 1 or 2 loans everyday over 4 mediocre signings. Push Ossie, Peanuts, Super Kev, Jags to perform. Nothing worse than a stale XI knowing their place is secure. Let's get some proper quality and freak out the senior squad members.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the way to build a squad is to buy better players for the first team and then current players become the squad players, if we only bu players to fill the squad roles then the first team will not get stronger.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sounds right to me al..

I use the term squad players, and I don't mean players who are not good enough, I use it as a term referring to a player that is not on the ideal first 11 but is used in a rotation and has the quality and ability to play to a sufficient standard and help us achieve what you are aiming to achieve. Quality depth is important but we can't have an entire squad of players who are the same standard as our best players. nobody likes a rigid 11, but in a squad you have varying qualities but the important thing is to have the lowest quality players meat the minimum quality standards, i.e contribute to the first team when required.

Suprise suprise as cilla used to say! The neighbors in red next door have suddenly shown an interest in Adam Johnson, I'm sure they just watch our interests in players day in day out and then just to jump in at the last minute for their own gain. GET YOUR OWN SCOUTS OFF THEIR BUMS AND DO THEIR JOBS!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hardly need scouts to know he's nothing special, let them have him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt that's true Lancerboy you know mate. If anything they have identified their targets and are actively seeking/signing them where we, as per usual don't seem to be able to sign our own name.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read the article there's absoloutley no substance to it at all. The ' journalist ' states because we've hesitated it ' could ' open the door for the rs. Just complete guess work like the majority of the rubbish pedalled out this time of year
i'm not even convinced were in for him to be honest though personally I'd welcome him with open arms. The lads a threat, 8 goals and 6 assists in a team fighting relegation ain't bad. An improvement on doofy loofy in my opinion but it doesn't make sense for sunderland to loan him out unless they can't sell him and they need him off the wage bill.

Johnson ain't as bad as people are making out. He was brilliant at boro, got a move to citeh, did ok and then to the mackems.considering they are quite poor team, we all still know that Johnson is capable of being unplayable on his day. He would be a good signing I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

When he is good, he is brilliant. Problem is for every good game he has, he goes missing in another 5 games!

Fellaini rumoured to be leaving utd £15m. Who would have him back? I would bring him back as a squad player only because he would give us a physical presence and something a bit different if we need to change a game in the last 20 mins. I would not pay£15m though £10m maybe.

I wouldn't pay 10 Rob, maybe 4 and he would have to take 50% wage drop just for being a whopper

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you murph..

He can rot at United for me. Mr Big Time Charley handing in a transfer request because he thought he was too good for us. Best bit of business besides Rodwell we've ever done. He doesn't fit into our style of play now and never will. See ya Marouanne.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think your right PB..

I think I remember RM saying during the season that he didn't think that Fellaini would suit our style of play and would of struggled to make the team

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a brilliant player for us, tortured teams in the box and was a real weapon. However it was obvious that he didn't fit into the style of play so a transfer was smart. We then got a cracking fee for him, what a deal! His career took a massive dip last season and we got a record points tally. Good luck to him in the future but everything has worked well for us regarding Fellaini, and we should move forward not backwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would. He can't pass, his link up play is awful, he's slow at times dis interested, clumsy gives away stupid free kicks CONSTANTLY and would never fit into a slick free flowing footballing style like ours. He thinks he's best as a defensive mid presumably breaking up play and distributing the ball. See all of his bad attributes I've listed above and that puts him being a good defensive mid to bed. He is good behind the striker though when the ball is lumped up to him as a target man and he chips in with goals. Not for us IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree paddock. I wouldn't have him back. He chose to leave with that transfer request on deadline day leaving us no time to find an immediate replacement. Good money though!
After his displays last season, Utd will struggle to find anyone paying anywhere near half what he cost them. Let him rot. The grass is not always greener.

Davey I don't even think they would get anywhere near half mate, severe dip in form and apparently on 90k, he will not be leaving there except on a free transfer in 4 more years, love it

The only teams who would be interested are hoof it / physical teams like we used to be
Can't think where he's going to be honest - other than David moyes's next club

Superb business by us - moyes was desperate for a signing and signing and we took advantage
He and his dad were always playing the big time Charlies saying he was too big for everton - now he's in free fall and will do well to get a relegation standard team
Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he is proof that the grass is not always greener latch..
